Infrastructural achievements :
The newly set up Audio-visual room of the school has been able to create an environment and has made learning more joyful and long lasting. The science lab also has ample of apparatus and equipments now and started functioning smoothly. Many teaching aids and maps have been purchased this year.
Our activities of the year :
Parent Teacher Association :
Pehachan, A programme for parents was organized, wherein the teachers introduced themselves and briefed the parents about the programmes planned for the year. The PTA met 4 times in the last year as per the norms. Due to healthy interaction between the parents and teachers the year 2005-06 brought along with it, loads of activities and laurels to school .
 
Excursion & Field Trips :
Field trips are arranged to give first hand experience to students and to expose them to the world outside the classroom. Students of std.V toVII visited Mahim Nature Park at Dharavi and std.8 th enjoyed the nature at the mini forest of Bombay Natural History Society at Goregaon. At these both places, a slide show and an informative talk on wild animals were organized after the Nature trail. Students of Std.X went for a study tour at Dronagiri node, Uran, to see the shrimp culture project of Blue Star Fisheries. Std.IX visited S.H.Kelkar & Company at Mulund to understand the working of small scale industry and to learn the procedure of production & marketing of the products. All the students made beautiful reports of their visits. In addition to these visits students of std.5 th to 7 th enjoyed their excursions at Kaman Village, Vasai and std. 8 th & 9 th at Nagao beach, Alibaug.
 
Monsoon week was observed wherein different competitions such as Poem writing, Drawing & Painting were organised on ‘Water’.
 
Consumer Club :
We have aunder the banner of ‘Consumer Guidance Society’ and the guidance of Smt.Pramila Mardikar. Various activities like essay writing on :Tulsi"- the Herbal Basil, discussions and lectures were arranged to make the pupils aware of their rights and duties of the customers / consumers.
 
‘Nature Club’Avani :
This year our club has become active under the guidance of Mr.Sherkhane. The member-students participated in the various competitions held by WWF.
 
Exhibition:
A Three day Geography Exhibition, titled ‘Avani’, was held on 25 th, 26 th and 27 th January 2006. It was based on the various aspects of Geography. The entire syllabus of the subject was covered through the charts, models and illustrations by the students of Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary classes with the help of their teachers and parents in the School premises. On this occasion, Smt.Achala Joshi, Trustee, IES, gave an interactive powerpoint presentation on ‘Galapogas’ to the students of std.7th. A debate was also organized on the topic related to Geography.
 
Science Experiments:
A programme was organized with the help of Marathi Vidnyan Parishad, to give opportunity to students to explore the world of Scienc. There were hundreds of experiments set up for students to perform and the students enjoyed to find out the scientific reasons and facts through experiments
 

Informative Talks:

1) An interactive A.V. show with a talk on Environment, its protection and conservation was organized in school. Our Parent, Mr.Tikare was instrumental in arranging this informative programme ‘Det Norske Vertas AS’ the Norwegian company, which work for ‘safeguard life, Environment and property’ through their training activities.

2) An informative talk with a slide show on water management, water conservation and water harvesting was conducted for Std. 9 th & 10 th. Prof. Mungekar, from IES Architecture College, was the speaker. The pupils prepared charts and projects on the same.

3) A special programme was organized for girl students of std. 7 th & 8 th and their mothers on the occasion of Mothers Day. An informative talk and a film show was arranged by ‘Johnson & Johnson Co.Ltd.’ to give information about their health and hygiene. For the boy students of Std 8 th to 10 th a programme was arranged where Dr. Vitthal Prabhu briefed the boys about the facts they need to understand at the age of adolescence. Smt.Thosar, our parent organized this programme with the help of the Lions club of Shivaji Park.
 
School Band:
We have started training students for the School Band. An able Band Master, Mr. Pradeep Indorkar is specially appointed for the same. The band group is now playing at all official, school and interschool functions adding, the final flourish of thrill and touch of class.
 
Competitions :
Competition is the best way to bring out the latent qualities of the students and canalize as per their potentials. We encourage them to participate in various inter school competititons and also in the In-House competitions specially designed to catch their needs and aspirations. The students have participated and won prizes in Inter School competitions organised by the Education Dept. Bombay Arts & Sports, Devavani Mandiram for Sanskrit Shlok Recitation, Singing, Drawing, Elocution and Group Dance.
 
Sports :
This year we have started coaching students for Handball. A camp was organized during Diwali Holidays to train students in Handball. Presently our students are being coached at Shivaji Park for cricket. We have achieved prizes in interschool sports. Students participated won prizes at the sports organized by the Bombay Arts & Sports Association & IES inter school athletics meet. Our team of Handball reached till District Level in DSO sports. They played at Panvel in the event organized by Raigad Dist Handball Association and reached till semi finals. At MSSA handball tournaments the team reached till Quarter finals.
 
Competitive Exams :
Every year students appear for many competitive exams and show their excellence in studies. We encourage the students to appear in various competitive exams, such as Maharashtra Talent Search, Bombay Talent Search, National Talent Search, IPM Exams, Homi Bhabha Jr. & Young Scientist Exams, Maths Concept, Pradnya and Pravinya Exams. Hindi Rashtra Bhasha, Marathi Nimnastariya Bhasha Exams. From this year we have introduced Two new prestigious exams, and many students participated in it. The Green Olympiad Exam on Environmental studies was conducted by Terry and another was ‘National Science Olympiad Exam’.
 
S.S.C.Examination :
We are very happy that our school gave the Cent percent result in S.S.C examination this year and Ms. Renuka Purohit made us feel proud by her excellent performance. She was 16 th in the merit list scoring 92.53%. For better results at SSC exams, we organize guidance lectures of experienced teachers, examiners and moderators. And arrange test series.

IES Manik Ratna Award -
Mast. Ashishrao Busi made his school proud as he was amongst the 10 best students of IES Secondary schools vying for ‘Manik Ratna Award’, the most prestigious award of Indian Education Society. This is a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, awarded to two All Round Meritorious students – one boy and one girl student - who not only excel in academics but also actively participate and show talents in other extra curricular activities like sports, performing arts, drawing, elocution etc. Mast.Ashish was nominated for the finals and received a cash prize of Rs.3000/-.
