Parent Teacher Association :
P
ehachan, A programme for parents was organized, wherein the teachers introduced themselves and briefed the parents about their respective programme planned for the year. The PTA meets 4 times a year.
Excursions & Field trips :
Field Trips are arranged to enlighten their minds and expose them to the world outside the classroom. Field trip of Std. I was organised to ‘Traffic Park’ at Ghatkopar, where as Std.II went around ‘Bandra’ and visited places like Mount Mary Church, Bandra Fort, Band Stand. A field Trip for Std. III was arranged to ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya’. Students were briefed about the area & its landmarks. Students visited Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalayawhere they witnessed stuffed wild animals, fishes, birds and reptiles. This trip was planned based on their history syllabus and the Museum gallery of Maratha Regime and Pre Historical Period. Std.IV visited ‘Kora Kendra’ and observed small scale industries. Excursions are for fun and frolic.We also take care about the learning factors while selecting the picnic spots. This year Std. I & II had fun with the animals at Jijamata Udyan where as Std. III & IV enjoyed at Chhota Kashmir and visited Aarey Colony.
‘ Special Days’ -
A special week on ‘Safety’ was observed to create awareness of safety on road and at home. Special days as ‘Monsoon Day’, ‘Flower Day’ ‘Coconut Day’ and ‘Shape Day’ were celebrated wherein the topics were taught by co-relating them with other subjects.
‘Lets Read:
A special week was observed to stimulate the reading capacity or skill in student where in various activities were conducted. Each pupil was given a book to read and conducted activities in class to evaluate the pupils' comprehension. Oral presentation through dramatization and story telling and written presentation through worksheets and writing of book review were the activities.

Work shop for Primary teachers:

1) Shishu Pahel - a workshop was organised for KG teachers, wherein they were given first hand experience to handle KG Children by considering their mind set and their psychological behaviour.

2) The teachers of Primary Section attended a workshop held to discuss the problems related to physically and mentally challenged pupils.
Class Decoration :
An activity involving class decoration was conducted, wherein each and every student showed his/her creativity.
Projects :
All the festivals are celebrated & different projects are displayed in the school in order to acquaint our pupils to the Indian culture & tradition & to inculcate in them the sense of unity & integrity. The students made colourful rakhis on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and they made Ganesh Idols with clay on Ganesh Festival as a part of follow up activity. Teachers` Day Celebration was held where elder students took charge of younger ones.

Examinations:

1) Our students appear for Maths, English, G.K. and Drawing exams conducted by Navhind Dnyanpeeth and many of them achieve merits.

2) The Scholarship exam. is conducted for Std. IV and VII for which we guide students, provide study material and evaluation is done frequently through test series.

Competitions are the best ways to bring out the latent qualities of the students and channalise as per their potentials. We encourage them to participate in various inter school competititons and also in the In-House competitions specially designed to catch their needs and aspirations.This year the school conducted competitions such as Drawing competition, Singing competition, Fancy dress competition, Elocution competition and story competitions. The students participated and won prizes in Inter School competitions organised by BMC Education Dept. Bombay Arts & Sports, Karuya, Devvani Mandiram for Sanskrit Shlok Recitation, Singing, Drawing Elocution and Group Dance. etc.
 
Achievements 2005 -06

Every year the students of Manik Vidyamandir Primary participate in Intra as well as Inter School Competitions. This year the school has been awarded the Trophy as the best School. The various achievements for the year 2005-06 are as follows.

Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai adjudged Manik Vidyamandir as the ‘Best School’ for getting maximum prizes in co-curricular activities conducted by BMC during 2005-06.



  1. BMC Competitions : Various competitions were organised by BMC during the year and our students bagged prizes as follows.
    i) Solo singing
    : Master Alankar Aparajit bagged the 1 st prize.
    ii) Fancy Dress : Master Raiba Anjalee Dileep bagged 2 nd prize.
    iii) Chorus singing : A group of students bagged consolation prize.

    vi) Solo singing: Miss Gayatri Pore - consolation prize.

  4. "Bal Mahotsav" organised by Prempuri Ashram:
    i) Instrumental Music: Master Prasad Gaitonde - 1st prize.
    ii) On the spot drawing competition: Master Suyash Jagtap won the Gold Medal
    iii) Story Telling: Master Aditya Joglekar - consolation prize.

  5. " Bombay Arts & Sports :
    The one act Play, ‘Gopal Da’ fetched us the 1st prize under the category of Primary Section and also the rotating trophy all the 3 sections i.e. KG, primary & Secondary. Smt. Vaishali Swamy – teacher, won the ‘Best Director’ award Smt. S.S.Vinekar, Head, was awarded with the ‘Best Principal award’.

    i) Head Smt. S.S.Vinekar was honoured by MCGM for being an active convener of H/W ward.
    ii) A cash prize of Rs. 500/- (Sumatilal M. Shah memorial prize ) was awarded to Head, Smt. S.S.Vinekar
    iii) Supervisor, Smt. V.A.Redkar ws honoured by MCGM for completing 25 yrs. of service.

    iv) Mrs. Mamata Palav - 1 st Prize in Story telling competition
    v) Mrs. Vaishali Swamy - 2 nd prize in Story telling competition & a prize as ‘Best director’ (Gopal Da)
    vi) Mr. Mangesh Patil - 2 nd prize in Drawing competition
    vii) Mrs. Reeta Chhadha - Consolation prize in story telling competition
    viii) Mrs. Nishat Khan - 1 st Prize - Best choreographer-Dhangar Nritya.) & won a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- for her valuable contribution in ‘Education’ by PACE.
    ix) Mrs.Sujata Karanth was awarded with certificate of Appreciation for her contribution towards the Science Olympiad Exam .

  8. Bandra Festival : The play "Noah`s Arc" was staged at the Bandra Festival which was highly appreciated.

  9. Outstanding performances by students :

    1) Science National Olympiad :
    i) Master Aditya Joglekar - 42nd at National level.
    ii) Miss Rashmi Nayak - 71st at National level.

    2) Master Raiba Anjali Dileep won 30 merit certificates at various competitions.

The school has been awarded the Acharya Atre Trophy as the best School by Bombay Arts & Sports for the year 2004-2005

The various achievements for the year 2004-2005 are as follows.

2. Mani Bhavan Competition: This competition is organized by Gandhi
Smarak Nidhi (Mumbai) and Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya.
13 students participated in Recitation of Poem about Gandhiji.
The following students from our school bagged the prizes.

3. IES Kala Vikas Mandal Interschool Competition.
36 students participated in these competitions.

during Padmakar Dhamdhere Lalit Kala Mahotsav. Our Teacher Shri
Mangesh Patil received 3rd prize.

 
Dental Check Up

Healthy teeth are the foundation of good health. Keeping this in mind the school had organized a Dental Check-up Camp with the help of Lilavati Hospital and Colgate Ltd. on 8th and 9th February 2005. A panel of doctors, under the able supervision of Dr.B.P.Parulkar, Co-ordinator, Dental Dept. Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, examined the students.

The Dental check up was done for all the students of Primary & Secondary. An informative film on Dental Hygiene was screened for all students. Two students from each class were selected for their best dental hygiene and were given prizes by Leelavati Hospital.
