Orientation to Architecture: Sem 1 (2019-20)<\/p>\n

Inspired by the works of a<\/span> British sculptor and land artist,<\/span> Andy Goldsworthy, this workshop was part of the First-Year Orientation Program. His works are transient with time and nature. Land art, basically, is an idea that emerges from nature around us and uses natural materials like rocks, stones, pebbles, twigs, leaves, etc. to manifest it. It is spiritual, temporary and succumbs to the form and shape of the natural materials used. <\/span><\/p>\n

A documentary film based on his artwork called <\/span>\u2018Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time\u2019 <\/span><\/i>was shown to the students before embarking on a trek to a beautiful spot by the Dahisar River in Sanjay Gandhi National Park,  in the heart of a metropolitan city of Mumbai. The film exposed the students to various possibilities of this form of art and the ideas behind its conception. Also, the process was an attempt at sensitising the students towards environmental concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n
