Dr. Neha Sarwate,
Head, Urban and Regional Planning
Dr. Neha Sarwate is an environmental planner, researcher, and educator with over two decades of experience spanning academia, urban governance, and ecological advocacy. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning, with research focused on safeguarding ecosystem services in ephemeral river systems. Dr. Sarwate has served as an academician at leading institutions and has made significant scholarly contributions in the areas of river ecosystems, urban sustainability, and inclusive planning. As an expert advisor to various government authorities on rejuvenation of rivers, ponds and wetlands, pollution mitigation, and sustainable development, she actively bridges research and practice. She is a frequent speaker at national conferences and public forums.
Prof. Suneeta Samant,
Design Chair, Architecture
With a B. Arch and M. Arch from Universityof Mumbai, Prof. Samant has over 40 years of teaching and professional experience. She has worked on prestigious projects as planning consultant for INTACH, MMRDA & Naval Dockyard. She has significantly contributed to Heritage Listing of Matheran Hill Station and presently a member of Heritage Committee for Matheran. Prof. Samant has been associated with IES's College of Archiecture, Mumbai, since 2005 as faculty of Design, Design Dissertation and Urban Planning and has developed course curriculum in Urban Planning and initiated, co-ordinated and documented innovative projects by final year B. Arch. students.

Research, innovation & knowledge leadership
The Department is equipped to undertake funded and non-funded research in the areas of urban and rural planning, sustainability, participatory processes and smart city transitions to name a few. The research would then be published in reputed indexed journals, book chapters, compendiums, etc.
We would encourage research grants, sponsored studies, and consultancy opportunities with government bodies, development agencies, and industry.
