About IES
Here’s a brief history about Indian Education Society (IES)…
In the year 1912, King George School was established in Dadar (E), Mumbai campus by a handful of dedicated and educated youngsters to impart quality education, with a thought that training widens the mental horizons of people.
On 17th November 1917, Indian Education Society came into existence. The dream was to have an ideal Educational Charitable Trust in the vicinity of Dadar.
Nowadays, everyone talks about educating the girl child and empowerment of women. IES started its first Girls’ School at Dadar (W) in 1918 with a desire for propagation of literacy amongst the girls in the State of Maharashtra. It helped cultivating the seeds for a new Girls’ school and one more school for boys at Dadar subsequently.
This small institution of that time was nourished by late Shri B. N. Vaidya, late Shri S. V. Nabar, late Shri Manikrao Lotlikar and late Shri Padmakar Dhamdhere.
With the view of spreading our Indian cultural values in English, an English Medium School was started within the Dadar (E) campus in 1968. Besides academics, on account of the various cultural activities carried out and also due to the caring atmosphere created, the demand for new schools at various places gradually increased - thus creating a series of IES’s schools.
Since 1989, the entire Dadar (E) campus is named as “Raja Shivaji Vidya Sankul”. More than 25 years ago, IES’s College of Architecture & Management College and Research Centre were started at our Bandra (W) campus as per the ongoing trends.
... and now, for more than 106 years IES has been glittering and progressing in leaps and bounds. Today, Indian Education Society provides value added education to about 23000 students through its 60 schools, 3 Colleges and an Institute for Skill Development, all segregated in 18 campuses.
Indian Education Society has spread its wings in all directions.
All its schools are achieving creditable success by bagging laurels in various fields.
With the help of immense contribution of its alumni, IES has reached the pinnacle of glory today. Now, amongst many families, it will be the 4th Generation proudly studying in IES’s schools. We can simply put it like this - Indian Education Society makes good students and good students make Indian Education Society!!
