About


Shilpa Bakshi Chandawarkar is a qualified landscape architect and an educator by profession with experience spanning more than 20 years. She has been engaged in the practice of landscape design and planning and is currently serving as Professor at the Indian Education Society’s College of Architecture, Mumbai, India. Aside from conducting Landscape Design and Architecture Design studios, she conducts electives in Cultural Landscapes and Resilient Landscapes. She has been a Design Dissertation/Thesis guide for undergraduate and postgraduate students for the past 10 years.

The Nature-Culture journey through Cities and People and Design Education are two areas that deeply hold her research interest.

She has been an Executive Council member of the Indian Society of Landscape Architects (ISOLA) in various capacities, is a part of the ISOLA Education Board and currently heads the Awards Committee.

Notable Achievement, Publications and Projects

Some of my milestone projects include the Pocket Park at Juhu, Mumbai, the Sant Dnyaneshwar Udyan, Shivaji Park, Mumbai (awarded the Design Excellence Award by ISOLA in 2013) and the JSW Township at Jaigad, Ratnagiri.

Published various articles in issues of the Journal of Landscape Architecture, was guest editor for LA-56 (issue focussed on the City of Mumbai) Written articles and presented at various forums on Caregiver Experiences in Dementia
