Education is a never-ending process. It doesn’t stop after earning a degree and starting a career. Workshops or refresher courses constantly improve teachers’ skills and makes them more proficient at their jobs. This is return ensures the best learning outcomes for their students and also provides them to be more effective and satisfied imparting knowledge. So on the 5th and 6th of April a Workshop on Number Work - Understanding numeracy in Early years was conducted by Ms Yesha Mahesh, Educator at St Xavier Institute of Education. This interactive and rejuvenating workshop was attended by most of the KG teachers from IES.
Along with academics, life and social skills are also very important. To cater to this skill the children of Sr KG visited the Bhandup Post Office on 27th March 2018 during their regular school timings.
To secure any infrastructure all the security parameters are taken into consideration. So, to equip the staff with safety skills representatives from M/S O.M. Enterprises demonstrated the same in the Bhandup Premises on Monday the 26th of March 2018.
A festival is an event ordinarily celebrated by a community and centering on some characteristic aspect of that community and its religion or traditions. Fot children to understand the importance and significance of the festival we celebrated holi on 1st of March, 2018.
The month of February ends with our Annual Educational Exhibition ‘games@change,in’. This was held on the 28th February in our KG classrooms. The exhibition portrayed the various games that are lost now and how children have entered the digital world.
A sense of accomplishment grows in a child when it is acknowledged and appreciated. This adds a lot of confidence and helps in building a positive self-esteem in the child. The Annual Prize Distribution ceremony was held on 23rd of February at our school ground. Miss.Tanvi Palav had come as our guest to cheer children for their achievements.
Our KG and Primary parents enjoyed the Fancy dress Event specially organised for them on the 13th of January. The theme of the competition was ‘Traditonal attire’. It was overwhelming to see all parents enthusiastically dressed up to present their tradition.
All the children of our KG participated in the Annual Gathering celebration which was held on 28th December 2017 at Mahakavi Kalidas Natyagriha. Children presented varied dances and also presented a Skit. It was indeed a joy to see the little kids take on stage, as danced to popular Bollywood tracks and on children’s songs.
Our KG parents enjoyed the Sports Event specially organised for them on the 9th of December at Kanjur Grounds. Mothers and Fathers participated in ‘Book Balancing’ and ‘Making a chain with pins’. It was overwhelming to see a large gathering. The enthusiasm and sheer of the Parents was noteworthy. We, look forward to such active participation in the upcoming events to be held for them.
The spirit of friendly competition comes alive on Annual Sports Day. This year Mini KG and Jr KG Sports Day was held on 4th December 2017 and SR KG Sports Day was held on the 8th of December 2017. The races chosen were fun to do, safe and easy to participate events. The children participated in different races suited to their age and cognitive levels. It was a joy to see them cheer on their classmates and also learn valuable lessons in sportsmanship.
To motivate children and develop their confidence various ‘In house ‘competitions are held during the year. On 14th November,2017 We conducted the ‘Fancy Dress’ competition and celebrated Children’s Day during school hours. Children wholeheartedly participated in the competition. It was overwhelming to see their parents support their little ones by preparing creative and colourful costumes.
On 3rd October,2017, We celebrated grandparent’s day. Our children showed their love for their grandparents by singing songs for them. It was overwhelming to see the grandparents participation
Festivals are an auspicious day or a period of religious celebration prevalent in all societies and religious communities. Festivals are an important part of our life. Goddess Durga was welcomed on 21st September, The nine days of ‘Navrarti’ were beautifully celebrated by singing aartis and distributing delicious sweets.
We celebrated Independence Day and Krishna Ashtami on 14th August 2017. Significance of both the days were explained through the displayed projects. Children dressed up as Radhas, Gopikas and Balkrishnas and thoroughly enjoyed the Janmashtami celebrations conducted at school. Children were treated to delicious ‘Dahi Poha’.

And for children to understand the importance of festivals Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in the classroom where kids presented rakhis made by them and were treated to the taste of delicious karanjis.
As every year, during the Hindu month of ‘Shravana’ we, organise ‘Mangalagouri’ program for our parents. This year’s ‘Mangalagouri’ was the most memorable and fun to watch as it was gracefully and wholeheartedly performed by a group of our enthusiastic parents from Jr and Sr KG. Taking time off their busy home chores they regularly practiced these dances since a month. This was held on the 25th of July 2017. It was indeed fascinating to see them dance like professional performers. Kudos to all of them!!
In lieu of the holy month of Shravan, as every year on Friday the 28th July, mothers of our KG children were invited to attend the ‘Haldi Kumkum’ ceremony which was very well attended.
The week long happenings from 22nd June to 29th June paved way for Project: Green. The happenings included activities like sorting seeds, sowing them and then observing them grow. On the 29th June all children wore green and relished a tasty vegetable preparation made from the freshly picked plants. During this week, they were explained about ‘Planting’. To express their love and care towards our mother nature, children prepared placards with slogan for Project: Green.
Our school reopened on 15th June 2017.The newly decorated classrooms brought in a lot of enthusiasm and fervor among teachers, children and their parents. Being the first day, parents accompanied their ward to the class. Teachers welcomed the little ones with smiley puppets and chocolates.
A healthy and sound mind paves way to strong body. This is indeed is achieved through the practice of yog. Our secondary P.T. teacher Mrs.Urmila Pol and our KG teacher Mrs. Purva Bidye instructed the little ones. Starting with salutations to the Sun God….Suryanamaskar was followed by Parvataasan, Vrikshasana and a few more yogasanas.It was overwhelming to see all the children of our KG perform them diligently and enjoy the exercise.
