24.04 2018 Talk On Architecture as a Career
Mr. S. Gupte and his team of architects from SRN'S Design Pro , came to address the std 10 students about the choice of Architecture as a career option after schooling. A presentation was shown to students which included names and photos of famous architects and their creations. It also acquainted the students with the subjects essential to pursue if Architecture is made a career choice.
The session ended with a question -answer session where queries of few students were explained by the guest speakers.

21.04 2018 इयत्ता- दहावीसाठी मराठी विषयाच्या मार्गदर्शनपर वर्गाचा अहवाल
शनिवार दि.२१ एप्रिल २०१८ रोजी इयत्ता दहावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी लेखी परीक्षेच्या संदर्भात मार्गदर्शनपर वर्ग आयोजित करण्यात आला होता. ह्या वर्गाचा प्रारंभ सकाळी ठीक ९.१५ वाजता माणिक विद्यासंकुलात झाला. इं.ए.सो.च्या माणिक विद्यामंदिर व ओरायन ह्या शाळांचे इयत्ता दहावीचे विद्यार्थी तसेच मराठी विषयाचे शिक्षक उपस्थित होते.
पार्ले टिळक विद्यालयाच्या मराठी विषयतज्ञ श्रीमती पूजा अजिंक्य यांनी विद्यार्थी व शिक्षकांना लेखी परीक्षेच्या तयारीसाठी बहुमोल मार्गदर्शन केले. विद्यार्थ्यांनी लेखन कौशल्यात निबंध, पत्र, गद्याकलन कसे लिहावे, तसेच कथा व कवितांचा अभ्यास परीक्षेच्या दृष्टीने कसा केला पाहिजे हे त्यांनी सांगितले. त्याचप्रमाणे पेपर लिहिताना प्रत्येक प्रश्नासाठी वेळेचे नियोजन विद्यार्थ्यांना समजावून सांगितले.
श्रीम.पूजा अजिंक्य यांनी विद्यार्थी व शिक्षकांच्या शंकांचे निरसनही योग्यप्रकारे केले. ह्या मार्गदर्शनपर वर्गाचा विद्यार्थ्यांच्या गुणवर्धनासाठी नक्कीच फायदा होईल. माननीय मुख्याध्यापिका श्रीम. प्रभू यांनी केलेल्या सहकार्य व उत्तेजनामुळे विद्यार्थी व शिक्षकांना अमूल्य असे मार्गदर्शन मिळाले त्याबद्दल आम्ही त्यांचे आभारी आहोत.

18.04 2018 ‘Study in New Zealand’ Talk
Venue: Seminar Hall, 6th Floor, IES Manik Vidyamandir
Resource Persons: Mr. Andrew Gill and Ms. Gill Austin – Directors of Timori Boys’ and Lynfield schools, New Zealand.
Aim: To orient the students of Std X about opportunities for studying in New Zealand.
The programme began with an introductory video of New Zealand’s landscape and culture.
The resource persons then briefly explained the system of education in New Zealand. They informed the students about the various courses offered after standard X, the process of admission and the criteria for entry.
Another video showing the two schools in New Zealand, viz. Northcote and Lynfield, showed the students the facilities offered.
A lively question-answer session ensued. Students had many queries regarding subjects, admission procedures, accommodation facilities and scholarships.

13.04 2018 Food Fiesta
Students of Grade 10 (Commercial Studies) organised a FOOD FIESTA in the stilt area, as a part of their Commercial Studies project, under the guidance of their teacher Ms. Krupa Sheth.
Students sold food items prepared by them. Other students of grade 10 and the staff could avail this facility.
It was a learning experience for the students to run a small scale business for a day, as they explored and gained practical knowledge.
They were able to learn commercial skills like organising, planning, coordinating, calculating, marketing, selling etc.
The profit earned by the students while running this one day business gave them a lot of confidence.
Over all it was a grand success, having some joyful moments.

28.03 2018 Convocation Ceremony
Convocation ceremony for the Sr. KG was held in the school auditorium on 28th March 2018. The event commenced with a convocation song by the Sr. KG Students followed by rhymes and action songs. The students looked smart in their graduation robes and caps as they came walking on the stage. They took the preschool pledge with candles in their hands, followed by the Principal felicitating them with graduation certificates.
Madam inspired the students with her words of wisdom. The class teachers of the respected classes too expressed their feelings and best wishes for the students. Few students also expressed their gratitude and gave ‘Thank you’ cards as a token of love and appreciation to the dignitaries present at the event. Individual and group photos were clicked.
It was indeed a joyous and memorable day for the little ones.

27.03 2018 Annual Feast
Kindergarten organized a fun filled Annual feast on 27th March 2018. Teachers and children came all set to have fun on the last day of the academic year. Children along with their teachers played games, danced and watched children related movies. Our tiny tots came in their favorite attire and relished the yummy snacks served.

17.03 2018 Intra school final round Competition
Intra school final round Competition was held at IES Orion KG section on 17th March 2018. Children from MVM and Orion schools participated in the competition. The students from Nursery, Jr. and Sr. KG were selected on the basis of the first round which was conducted in their respective schools on 7th March 2018.

Each child eagerly waited for their chance and performed boldly when their names were called out. The prize winners proudly collected the prizes as their peers cheered them.

27.02.2018 Health Talk by Danone India
A health talk was organized in the school auditorium by Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd a company that manufactures and sells Yakult, a probiotic health drink in India.
Sneha Panchal and Komal Chaudhary their science executives addressed the session to the students of grade 5 to 8. They started their talk with a brief explanation of digestive system of humans with the help of the model from Japan.They explained about the length of the small intestine, the time taken for food to travel from the mouth to the stomach, the part of the digestive system where the nutrients are absorbed etc. The model was apt to the content taught.
Then they had a presentation for 10 minutes on good and bad bacteria wherein they explained about probiotics, importance of gut health for our body. The presentation was very interesting and it was indeed an interactive session.
There was also a screening of cartoon animated film ‘The Hero’ which explained about good and bad bacteria, importance of digestive system and benefits of healthy eating habits. Students enjoyed the film a lot.
They concluded the session by conducting a quiz. Students took active participation in the quiz and also won prizes. They also distributed a bottle of Yakult to all the students of grade 5 to grade 8 as a token of love.

27.02.2018 BBC Earth
The BBC Earth presentation was held in the school Auditorium for Grades 5 to 8. The presentation was a part of stories related to Science, Nature and Adventure. It was an interactive session as it involved many activities like quiz, experiments, magic etc. Children who gave correct answers were presented with a terrarium. The school was also presented with terrariums.
The presentation started with introducing certain fun facts to the students, giving them more information about the channel. A video was shown to the students based on nature and adventure and a few questions were asked to them. Each correct answer was given a prize in the form of a terrarium.
Happiness was introduced to the students by showing a video and the students were asked to come to the stage to have a fun filled dance based on the anthem of the channel.
An experiment was shown to the students. In this experiment the demonstrator used dry ice to form a bubble through the process of sublimation.
At the end of the session the students got a puzzle and a weekly planner by the channel.
It was an interesting session and the students enjoyed the presentation.

Project on Waterways and Railways (Jr.KG)
Project on Mumbai. (Sr.KG)Jr KG prepared project on the topic Railways & Waterways and Sr. KG on Mumbai. Children brought models, coloured papers , beads , craft papers , glue , empty match boxes ,small card board boxes and other materials to assemble and make a Project. Children prepared their project with great observation, skill and keenness. They spoke a few sentences describing their project.

23.02.2018 A talk on Health and Hygiene
A talk on health and hygiene was conducted for girls of class VII and VIII. It was conducted by Procter and Gamble and the speaker was Ms. Vaidehi.
She spoke to the girls about the change that takes place in them both physically and mentally during puberty. She explained about the menstrual cycle and the symptoms associated with the same. She shared certain hygiene tips with the students.
She also discussed about the importance of eating healthy food.

19.02.2018 Shivaji Jayanti
On 19th February 2018 Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was celebrated with traditional fervor. Stories, Power point presentation and songs on the life and great achievements of the Maratha Warrior were shown to our tiny tots. Children enthusiastically came dressed as Shivaji Maharaj, Jijabai, Sambhaji, Tanaji, Mavlas and confidently spoke few lines about their character.

17.02.2018 Exhibition on Environmental Science
Exhibitions play a major role in enhancing the overall development of the children. It provides an opportunity for parents to come together, celebrate, mingle and learn about the different activities taking place in school.
On 17th February 2018 Annual Exhibition “MVM Vibrance” was held in the school premises. The chief guest Ms.Neeta Pillai inaugurated the exhibition. She was accompanied by the Principal Ms Pratibha Prabhu. The topic for the exhibition was ‘Environmental Science.’ The ‘Kitchen Garden’ room showcased presentation on the parts of a plant, farm project, pick and place game, puppet show, healthy and junk food, salad corner, creativity on fruits and vegetables. The Senior KG children dressed as different community helpers presented a show thanking all our helpers for their services rendered to our community.
Children were eagerly and confidently waiting for their chance to show their talent. The display boards and the project corners were colourful. The exhibition was appreciated by everyone.

14.02.2018 Yugpurush
A play titled "YUGPURUSH" was presented by the members of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur for students of classes 5 to 9.
Students were engrossed in this two hour presentation which showcased different chapters from Mahatma Gandhi's life and the relationship he shared with his spiritual guide, Shrimad Rajchandraji.
The play focussed on the force that influenced Gandhiji's ideas and guided his beliefs, the entity that contributed in the making of the Mahatma.

05.02.2018 Toy Day
Toys play an important role in a child’s life. Toys not only help children to express their feelings but also help them to feel secure.
On 05.02.2018 ‘Toy Day’ was organized for the tiny tots. The basic theme behind organizing this day was to provide a homely and fun filled environment. It was an exciting day for the little ones who brought their favourite toy to school. They had a great time playing and sharing their toys with each other. They also expressed their feelings towards the toy through show and tell activity which helped them to enhance their language development. All the children had a big smile on their face. Indeed it was momentous day!!

30.01.2018 Crossword Competition
Crossword organized a talk and Spell Bee competition for grade 5 to 9. Ms. Sachi from Crossword addressed the students informing them about the ‘I Want to be an Author contest’ organized by Crossword. It is the first of its kind school initiative campaign by CROSSWORD which would provide students with a credible platform to showcase their writing skills. Student’s participation was overwhelming.

26.01.2018 Republic Day
Republic Day was celebrated by the staff and students of IES Manik Vidyamandir with patriotic fervor. The Chief Guest Master Yash Rajyadaksha hoisted the national flag and spoke to the gathering. Cultural activities (Dance) were held and the gathering was treated with some spectacular musical feast. Students of Grade IX saluted the efforts of the national leaders in building an independent, republic nation in various languages.(Hindi, English, Marathi) The programme ended with the national song.

25.01.2018 Prempuri “Bal Mahotsav” Competition
Venue: Swami Shri Prempuri Ashram Trust, Babulnath Road
Swami Shri Prempuri Ashram Trust, had organized Annual interschool cultural competition named “Bal Mathosav”. The theme of the competition was “Mera Bharat, Swach Bharat” and all the competitions were conducted based on the same theme with a vision to make the students aware of their rights and responsibilities as a citizen and also to understand the importance of neat and clean environment. The Bal Mahotsav focuses on maintaining high quality of performances and believes in not only appreciating the talent but also encouraging the talent. The competition had wide range of events for the students to cater to all interests and tastes.
The students of our school had participated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm in the various competitions. There were almost more than 30 events which were held within the 3 day long Bal Mahotsav and the various events conducted includes:

It was indeed a great learning experience for the students and successful approach on the part of the students. Overall it was an amalgamation of mellifluous music, dazzling dances, thought provoking skits and magnificent art and craft designs presented by the students of different schools.

16.01.2018 Thanks Giving Week
The pre primary had Thanksgiving week from 16.01.2018 to 19.01.2018 to show gratitude to our community helpers for their service and dedication. Various helpers like the carpenter, policeman, electrician and doctor had visited the school and spoke to the children about the work they do for the society. Children enjoyed rhymes, songs and dramatization of different community helpers. This was a great way for the tiny tots to become familiar with the people in our society and thereby have a wonderful learning experience.
A fancy dress activity was conducted where in children dressed up as different community helpers and spoke a few lines about their role in society.

12.01.2018 Annual Concert
On 12.01.2018 Pre Primary celebrated Annual Concert with great zeal and enthusiasm. Ms Bela Gandhi, Curriculum Head, Cosmikids International School was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The function commenced following the Indian culture “Lighting of the ceremonial Lamp,” by the Chief Guest. It was followed by a prayer dance and welcome song by the tiny tots of Junior and Nursery Marigold. The theme of the programme was “Toys.”All the children of Nursery, Junior and Senior KG took part in the programme which also comprised of items like Action songs on toys by the Nursery and Junior KG Daisy children, skit on ‘The secret of childhood joy’ by the children of Senior KG Daisy and Santhal folk dance by the children of Senior KG Marigold. The event was ably compered by the tiny tots themselves who spoke smartly and confidently. The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the little ones. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by our teacher Ms. Mehzabeen Merchant and the National anthem “Jana Gana Mana.’

12.01.2018 Annual Gathering Grade 1 & 2
On 12thJanuary, 2018, all students of grade 1 and 2 at IES Manik Vidyamandir celebrated their Annual Day concert with great zeal and enthusiasm.
This grand affair was made possible by the relentless efforts of our principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. The chief guest for the event was Mrs. Deepali Nene, Principal of Kohinoor International School. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the chief guest. The theme for the concert was “Childhood”. Childhood means simplicity. Every child is a different flower and together children make a beautiful garden. The event started with a welcome song by students of grade 1 and 2. The theme for the annual day was presented by the students gracefully through their performances. The event continued with a grand finale, ending with a vote of thanks and National Anthem.

12.01.2018 Annual Gathering
Grade 3 to 9Venue: Manik Sabhagruh Auditorium.
IES Manik Vidyamandir celebrated with great zest, vibrancy and elation. There were two shows (Grade 3-9). Mrs. Mitali Rudra (Principal P.G. Garodia, Ghatkopar), was the esteemed Chief Guest for show 1, Mrs. Ranjani Krishnaswamy (Director of Billabong International High School, Thane) for show 2. The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp by the Honorable Chief Guest, escorted by the other dignitaries and the Principal. This was entailed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest.
The Annual Day was woven around the theme ‘LAUGHTER’.
The one–hour long Show held the audience in awe and left them enlightened as the show culminated, the flawless performance showcased by the students across different grades. The event started off with a WELCOME SONG. The theme for the annual day was presented meticulously by students. It was a journey into thriving compassion among characters and hilarious scenes interwoven into a dramatically overwhelming play composed by the students. The play also had musical elements to bring symphony and melody into life. The function also included Dances & Orchestra by the students.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks and National Anthem.

09.01.2018 Kite Flying
Kite making activity was conducted for the tiny tots. The children made colourful kites as a take away. On 09.01.2018 Sr KG Children were taken to the Long Ground to fly kites into the sky with the help of gas balloons along with their teachers and friends. The importance of celebrating sankrant festival was explained to the children.
They relished eating Til laddoo. -
08.01.2018 Field Trip to Fire Station
Sr. KG children were taken on a field trip to the Fire Station at Bandra Reclamation. At the fire station, the eagerly waiting fire brigade staff mingled with the little ones. The ‘fire officer’ explained some interesting facts about the fire brigade, fireman’s uniform, tools and equipments used in fire fighting and rescue work. The children got an opportunity to climb the fire ladder and were also taken for a ride in the fire engine. They happily sang the song ‘Ten little firemen……’ and thanked these humble people for the service they render to the society.

06.01.2018 An interactive session with Mrs. Savita Ram
An interactive session in service training that motivates teachers to work hard so as to bring out their best was held for the pre primary teachers. It was conducted by the resource person Ms Savita Ram.
Ms. Savita Ram is a highly qualified teacher who had started her career from the Indian Community School in Monrovia, Liberia and later went on to work in various schools in India as a teacher and Principal. With her vast experience in the teaching field as well as interaction with students and parents guided the teachers.
Ms Savita Ram then shared her thoughts on how parents and teachers need to deal with children in an appropriate manner in order to help them grow comfortably by accepting them and situations we face as they are in the present. Madam herself shared her own personal experiences to guide and inspire us to give in our best truthfully and accept things in our life as they come. She explained that children should never be forced or pressurized but the teachers and parents should put in their best and eventually things will fall in place at the right time. Parents counseling is necessary to help parents understand the importance of their own role in bringing out the best in their children.
The session indeed included a very effective sharing and learning process all throughout where all the participants shared their thoughts and experiences.

02.01.2018 Animal Safari Week
To promote better understanding of the animal kingdom and its species ‘Animal Safari Week’ was held in the pre primary from 02.01.2018 to 04.01.2018. During this week the children were provided interesting information about their food habits, habitat, sound, young ones etc. through rhymes, songs, discussions, stories, riddles, dramatization and browsing picture books on animals. They also enjoyed wearing headgears and miming different animals. The tiny tots were sensitized about protecting our environment and keeping the animals safe. They were also made aware of the endangered animals and the necessity to save the wild life. The children experienced and learnt about many different animals creating curiosity among them in order to become more closure to the nature.

22.12.2017 Christmas
Christmas is a season of love, joy, sharing and caring.
Teachers decorated the class rooms and even narrated children about the birth of Lord Jesus. All the children looked lovely in gorgeous party outfits and danced to the tune of Jingle bells, they lit the classroom with their smiles.
Children made the Santa caps and painted the greeting cards. As a token of love sweets and savouries were distributed to the children by our Santa. It was a great day for the kids as they enjoyed the celebration to the fullest.

15.12.2017 Annual Sports Day – 2017-18 (Primary)
The most awaited event of the school – The Sports Day was celebrated on the long ground for the Primary section with much grandeur.
The enthusiasm and excitement of the students was immeasurable as they cheered for their houses and friends. Parents walked in with high energy and exhilaration and witnessed the entire show with great fervor.
The chief guest for this event was Mr.Girish Dighe -- SUPERINTENDENT, CUSTOMS AND CENTRAL EXCISE. He has been the Head Coach of Maharashtra women's basketball team which won the Gold medal at the National Games, held in PUNJAB, 2001.
The Sports day won a lot of appreciation and accolades from the Chief Guest and the parents.

14.12.2017 Sports Day
The Annual Sports Day was held on Friday 14th December 2017 on I.E.S. Manik Vidyamandir Long ground Bandra Reclamation. The theme for the Sports Day was Toys. The Chief Guest for the day was Ms. Nishalatha Rama Shetty National Throwball Player and best Athlete. The sports day began with hoisting of school flag, a walk past by children followed by the torchbearer run and the oath taking ceremony.
Our Principal Mrs .Pratibha Prabhu addressed the parents about the importance of outdoor games ,briefed them with the achievements of our school children in sports and honoured the parents for their presence and active participation in the events.
The Sr.KG children displayed dazzling mass drill with pom-pom and ribbon dance. The tiny tots enthusiastically participated in the various races.

08.12.2017 Field Trip: Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay
Grade VI & VII visited ‘Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay’ At first, we walked along the entire museum. The students were exposed to 14 galleries where permanent display of different aspects of the Indian civilization from its very beginning was displayed.
It was a showcase of India through the ages from 2500 BC till India got its independence. This was truely composite history — where intellectual, philosophical and artistic transitions are located and traced.
Innumerable forms of art and artefacts hailing from India, Tibet, Nepal and other far eastern countries are preserved in this museum. The museum also houses a collection of 2000 rare miniature. One can also find decorative artworks made from wood, metal, jade and ivory among the museum collections. There are also rare archaeological artefacts that date back to the 'Indus Valley' civilization in the 2000 B.C. Remnants from the 'Maurya' as well as 'Gupta' periods are beautifully displayed in the museum.
The 'Natural History' section of the museum includes a collection of reptiles, mammals, amphibians, birds and fishes. There is another section that displays Indian arms and armour that displays an array of weapons, swords, shields in addition to other projectiles.
Each display came with a story, with pictures, with installations from that time, with books, documents, often films as well as photographs, attire and all possible records that help to connect the dots.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this trip where they got a tremendous exposure in terms of science, history, geography as well as art and literature.

08.12.2017 Field trip to Taraporewala Aquarium and Jijamata Udyan & Zoo
Students of Grade 1, 2 and 3 went for the field trip to Taraporewala Aquarium and Jijamata Udyan & Zoo. 219 students along with teachers and staff enjoyed watching different species of fish and sea animals in the aquarium. It was a thrilling experience for them to see monkeys, hippopotamus, deer, python, elephants, different kinds of birds and penguin at the zoo.

08.12.2017 Field Trip to Nehru Science Centre (Grade 4 and Grade 5)
162 students visited the Nehru Science Centre.
At the Science Odyssey students viewed a show titled ‘The National Parks Adventure’ a short film on various National Parks in the United States of America.
Another show was witnessed by the students wherein they received information about the 8 planets in a unique way.
Students were also shown a 3- D film at the Centre after which they went around the Science gallery to have hands on and interactive experience with science exhibits on energy, sound, kinematics, mechanics, transport etc.
The Field trip was very educative and students enjoyed the overall experience.

YUSUF Meherally centre is a voluntary organization with rural development as its main objective. 139 students of class VIII and IX visited the centre The students were taken to four centres viz., the Soap Factory, Ghani Oil Press, the Pottery Unit and the Vermi compost; the organiser explained the stages of production at the respective units.

The students were also taken to “Ba kuti" and “Bapu kuti" the replica houses of Kasturba and Mahatma Gandhi located at Gujarat.
After this, there was a talk by the organiser. He spoke about the different endeavours that led to the development of the centre into a full-fledged rural development agency that handles issues relating to women and Adivasis, health care, education, rural industries, watershed development and organic farming.
This field trip enabled the students to experience a holistic and an integrated picture of the information earlier presented to them in a textual and abstract way.
07.12.2017 Field trip to Mount Mary Church
The church is one of the oldest and most visited churches in the city.
A field trip to Mount Mary Church, Bandra was organized for Sr.KG.When we entered the church we were greeted with a warm welcome by a loving Sister. The sister was truly overjoyed to see so many little children who had come to receive blessings of Mother Mary. She told children about God’s greatness, love and power. She narrated the story of Mother Mary and her son Jesus Christ. Teachers and children sang hymns like “God’s Love.” In praise of God. A garland of flowers and candles were offered with devotion by our tiny tots.
As a token of love and appreciation a Thank You card was presented to the Sister who prayed for children and staff.
24.11.2017 Reading Day
To encourage our students to read every day, One Nation Reading Together was celebrated at Manik Vidyamandir where children from all classes displayed their love for reading.
On 24th November 2017, children read the Reading Pledge penned by author Jerry Pinto and later read their favourite book for half an hour along with teachers.
20.11.2017 - 24.11.2017 Farm buddies and Ocean Friends
To reinforce the topics of Farm and Ocean Animals, our children of Jr.KG celebrated Farm Buddies week and Sr.KG Celebrated Ocean Friends week. Throughout this week different activities related to the topic were planned for children. As a part of the Special week, Fancy Dress and Project Day were organised, where Jr.KG children came dressed as Farm Animals and Sr.KG as ocean Animals and spoke about the same. Children confidently assembled and explained their respective projects. Over children had a fun loving experience.
16.11.2017 Picnic
A picnic is a short trip for pleasure to a beautiful place. To give our children pleasure and feel fresh from the daily routine a picnic was organized to the popular Patwardhan Park Bandra (w).
It is a perfect place of nature excursion for kids .Children were excited to travel by bus with their friends and teachers. Once we reached the destination they were thrilled to see the park. As we settled children were taken to the play area which was well equipped with many swings and rides. Children also played cricket, foot ball and different games on the lawn, then we proceeded for the nature walk where children saw different trees, plants, flowers and beautiful butterflies in the park. After a while all gathered to eat snacks and then left for school with fond memories.
14.11.2017 Children’s Day
14th November of every year is celebrated as Children’s Day. It is the birthday of our first Prime Minister, Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He felt that the children are the real strength of the country and the foundation of the society. Even after being an eminent figure and National leader, he loved children so much and spent his precious time with them.
On Children’s Day, our students came in party clothes and were absolutely overwhelmed to see the all time classic movie Mary Poppins. They prepared cards, relished yummy snacks and enjoyed the day filled with fun and frolic!

10.11.2017 Field trip to exhibition Vayushakti - The Guardian Of The Skies
Maharashtra SevaSanghhad organised an exhibition “Vayushakti- the Guardians of the Skies” at Waman Rao Muranjan High school. 61 students attended the exhibition.
The Air Force exhibition included display of static and electric models of aircrafts, helicopters, drones, missile launchers, fighter Airplane models, radar systems, G-suits, and vintage aircrafts, simulators and other equipments, vehicles and armaments of the Air Force.
IAF documentary films was played in auditorium.
The exhibition also had special sessions on career guidance for youth, presentation and demonstrations on Drones and simulator, aero-modelling display amongst others.
The exhibition was organised to connect and fill up the gap between the Indian air force and the civilians. This exhibition created awareness about the contribution of the air force in making our lives secure. The trip highlighted the importance of the values like sacrifice, hard work, time management, etc.
13.10.2017 Diwali Celebration
Diwali, the festival of light is celebrated all over India in order to welcome Lord Rama back home after his victory over Ravana.
Children painted earthen diyas and decorated them too.
Teachers decorated the classrooms, told stories and even educated children about the ill-effects of crackers on environment, human beings, birds and animals.
Children took an oath and promised that they will celebrate Diwali in a safe and an eco-friendly way.
As a token of love sweets and savouries were distributed to the children .It was a great day for the kids as they enjoyed the celebration to the fullest.

07.10.2017 Intra School Competitions
Intra school competitions were conducted at IES Manik Vidyamandir KG section.
MVM KG and Orion KG children participated. The students from Nursery, Jr and Sr.KG were selected on the basis of the first round which was conducted in their respective schools on 27th September 2017.
Competitions held were as follows:
1. Nursery: Colouring within limits.
2. Jr.KG: Clay moulding.
3. Sr.KG: Drawing and Colouring.Children participated in the competition with full enthusiasm and zeal.

A field trip to Nature’s basket was planned for our Sr.KG students. It was a perfect choice as children got to see various day to day utility items like vegetables, fruits, packed, processed, frozen food, dairy and poultry products etc under one roof.
Children were taken to the different sections; where they enjoyed exploring the Super market. Teachers explained to them the benefits of various exotic vegetables, fruits and other food items sold their. At the end children were taken to the cash counter to see how one can buy any products from the Super market. This trip enriched children to develop their general awareness and observation skills.
02.10.2017 Gandhi Jayanti
On Oct 2nd birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was celebrated in our school. Sr.KG students narrated stories and gave speeches on Gandhiji’s life incidences, which ignited a feel of patriotism in all of us. His favorite devotional song “Ragupati Raghav Raja Ram …” was sung by our kids. Teachers shared some of his moral stories like Dandhi March, Three Wise Monkeys, Satyagrah etc. A genuine homage was paid to the “Father of our Nation”.
29.09.2017 Dussera Celebration and Saraswati Poojan
Dussera the festival which gives the message that good always triumphs over evil was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Children came beautifully dressed in colourful traditional attire.
The significance of the festival was told to the children through stories, video clippings and songs. Children of Sr.KG came dressed up as different characters and presented a skit depicting the story of Dussehra in a child friendly way. Children recited shlokas ,prayed to goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music and art to bless them with knowledge.
Children had a gala time dancing rassgarba and dandiya on the energizing famous dandiya music songs.
27.09.2017 Principal’s Address to the parents on the Safety and security of their children in school.
Safety first, is safety always and keeping this in mind on 27th September, 2017. I.E.S Manik Vidyamandir‘s Principal Miss Pratibha Prabhu held a meeting for parents to talk about the safety measures taken in school for children. Madam spoke about the good and bad touch and gave brief information about how PTA member works. She put the light on how to monitor their child’s journey from home to school and school to home.
Ma’am also explained arrival and departure processes, the structure of the school and how CCTV’s are installed in the school building and premises. She also educated the parents on how to use Apps in a constructive manner and summed up the meeting by giving parents some good tips of parenting.
26.09.2017 Special Assembly – Hindi
Assembly conducted by the students of grade IV & V. Students gave a speech on ‘Importance of Hindi’. Also students sang poem and enacted a play on “Maa Durga”, which was written by our teacher Ms. Urvashi Sharan.
Also certificates were given to the winners of Poetry and Elocution Competition; which was conducted on ‘Hindi Divas’, 14th September, 2017.
22.09.2017 Grandparents’ Day
To make Grandparents feel special and honoured ‘Grandparents’ Day’ was celebrated in Manik Sabhagarha. The chief guest of the function was Smt. Alpana Gupte, retired I.E.S teacher.
Children performed various dances for their grandparents. Few enthusiastic grandparents also performed. Spot prizes and dance were the highlight of the day, it rocked the hall.
The grandparent’s representatives shared their views and expressed their gratitude towards the school. As a token of love they were given a gift and a card prepared by their grandchildren.
22.09.2017 Road Safety Workshop by Traffic Police
A meeting of transport committee of IES MVM took place to discuss certain security issues and alterations during student dispersal. It was attended by PTA representatives, Bus providers and traffic police personnel.
The bus providers put forth their grievances which were tackled by the police representatives.
The police personnel then visited few classes and instructed them on Road Safety Regulations.

A small step towards the giant goal of making India the 'Football Nation'.
It is rightly said, Football is undoubtedly 'Numero Uno' Sport of the globe. But above all, it touches billion hearts. That is why it is called 'The Beautiful Game!' 15.09.2017 Kids’ Big Bazar
As a recap of E.V.S topic on vegetables and grains. A market was set up; children brought different things to be displayed in the market. Some children came dressed as grocer and vegetable vendors. Children were explained how vegetables and grains are weighed with the help of weighing scale and how money transaction takes place.
Children along with their respective teachers did shopping and enjoyed the shopping experience.
08.09.2017 AISM Annual Inter School Declamation Contest
Venue: Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania High School, Thane.
Around 78 schools had participated i. e. 156 students had enrolled for the Declamation held on 8th September at. Two students, Nihareeka Acharya and Riddhi Atre had represented IES Manik Vidyamandir. The students were given the topic beforehand. They had to prepare the speeches given by eminent personalities.
20 students won the elimination round. The winners of the final round will represent at the National level to be conducted by ASISC.

Ganpati Bappa Morya! Ganpati came to our school to bless us all on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The entire atmosphere around the school was filled with an air of festivity. The children came to school delightfully dressed to welcome their Bappa.
An artistic decorated pandal was made to place Bappa. Kids along with their teachers went for darshan and recited the prayers. They offered flowers and incense sticks.
Children made clay Ganpatis and displayed proudly in the classroom. They had a gala time watching audio visuals of Ganpati Bappas stories. They ate healthy prasad and chanted Ganpati Bappa Morya!
15.08.2017 Independence Day Celebration
Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm; the chief guest of the program was Ms. Oke Gayatri Sandeep, topper of SSC (2016-17).
The chief guest was welcomed and accompanied by the Principal, Asst. Head, coordinators, school council members and school band troop.
Flag was hoisted by Ms. Gayatri Oke. Prime Minister’s speech is read by the student. Followed by patriotic songs sung by the students.
14.08.2017 Independence Day Celebration
Our school celebrated the 71st year of Independence. It is a day of great significance for the people of India. As on this day India got its freedom from the British rule after long years of slavery.
To invoke among the children the feelings of patriotism and selfless service to one’s motherland, stories in the form of songs and episodes were narrated to the little ones. Patriotic songs were heard and sung with great pride and gusto. The project corner depicted the parade and national tribute to the flag. The children saluted the national flag and brave freedom fighters were remembered, who got freedom to us.
The children stuck the tricolour buntings. As they swayed in the breeze they created a feeling of unity among everyone. The pledge was taken by the children and teachers to work for the country as young citizens followed by the national anthem.
11.08.2017 Gopal Kala
Gopal Kala was celebrated with joy and enthusiasm as it marks the birth of Lord Krishna. As per the auspicious occasion children beautifully dressed up as Radha, Krishana and lovely Gopikas, they made a pretty sight for everyone. They prepared and wore mukuts with peacock feathers and held flutes depicting Lord Krishna. The significance of the celebration was shown to the children through audio visuals and the enchanting project put up. Sr K.G. presented a small skit on the same.
Dahi Handis was organized for the kids. They danced merrily on all the govinda songs and ate the healthy jaggery poha. The value of living life with joy and fervour was taught through this cultural festival!
04.08.2017 Rakshabandhan
Rakshabandhan is celebrated to strengthen the bond between brother and sister. Children prepared beautiful rakhis as a token of love and trust which the festival signifies. As any Indian festival seems to be incomplete without traditional festivities such as singing and dancing. The little ones came in beautiful attire and enjoyed the occasion to the hilt. Children saw the eye catching project and enjoyed the coconut burfi.
01.08.2017 to 04.08.2017 Monsoon Hungama Week
Monsoon is a delightful season that brings wonder for one and all. As the children are the most sensitive to nature, they are able to relate more so, keeping this aesthetic development in mind, the Monsoon Hungama week was planned.
Puppets were used to teach the rain concept and stories were narrated on the same. Art and craft activities captivated the little ones. The Rainy Season project corner enchanted them too.
Rhymes and songs were sung and recited wherein the children learnt new vocabulary. Children put on their colourful raincoats and enthusiastically set out for the much awaited rain walk with their teachers.
They sailed pretty paper boats. It was a joy to watch swirling boats depicting the innocence of childhood.
01.08.2017 Lokmanya Tilak Punyatithi
Lokmanya Tilak Punyatithi was observed in school to give honour to the brave freedom fighter. Teachers narrated stories on the great leader’s courageous stand against the British. Interesting episodes were told as how he is the pioneer in celebrating festivals like Ganesh Utsav as children listened attentively. Children too spoke eloquently on his famous newspapers and his fearless stand in awakening the masses. The children repeated the famous slogan which is even feared and valued till date. ‘Swaraj is my birth right and I shall have it.
27.07.2017 Nagpanchami
Nag Panchami festival falls on the fifth day of Shravan month and snakes are worshipped on this day. Most of the people visit the temple of Lord Shiva and offer flowers and rice flakes as well.
A project was displayed and the teachers gave the information on Nagpanchami festival.
Songs, stories and video clipping were shown to the children.
Keeping the festival in mind the Nursery tiny tots made clay snakes, Jr.KG made Paper plate snakes and Sr KG made crush paper snakes.
21.07.2017 Deep Pooja
It is a very auspicious day in the month of Ashadha. On this day, people decorate their houses clean diyas and sanctify a table with rangoli designs around it. It is believed that the radiations of the light of the diyas drive out all the evil and bad powers and welcome new brightness and positive energy into the life.
Our children brought colourful diyas from home which teachers placed it on a rangoli decorated table and lit to perform pooja. All the children stood around the table, reciting the prayers ‘Subham Karoti Kalyanam’ very devoutly and bowed down spiritually.
10.07.2017 Befriend Plants Week
Trees are our best friends on the Earth. We just cannot continue to live on Earth if there are no trees around us.
A special Befriend Plants Week was celebrated from 10th to 14th July 2017 by our Tiny Tots.
Teachers explained the children, the various parts and uses of plants. i.e
Plants give fresh air and oxygen. We enjoy the sight of beautiful trees and plants, with colorful flowers, vegetables and fruits... Trees give essential materials like paper, rubber, gum, medicinal substances and a home for many birds. So it is our duty to grow as many trees as we can and take proper care of them.What a valuable life lesson! How to plant seeds with kids– the easy way! Planting seeds with kids is one of the favorite nature activities. Jr and Sr KG children loved to be the part of the planting activity. They were fascinated to sow the seeds into the soil and made sure that plants get plenty of water and sunlight. Children enjoyed songs, stories, clay activity, video clippings on plants and drew the different stages of ‘Germination of a seed’. These kinds of activities give them hands on experience and added a lot to their knowledge bank.
07.07.2017 Guru Pournima
Guru Pournima festival is traditional celebration to pay respect and express gratitude to the teachers on the full moon day (Pournima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha. It is also said that, the day of Guru Pournima is considered auspicious for those who are willing to give a start to a spiritual learning of any kind.
Guru Pournima was celebrated on 7th July 2017. Teachers explained to the children that “Gu” means darkness and “Ru” means light. The Guru takes us from darkness to light. Children bowed down to their respective teachers for seeking their blessings.
An assembly period was conducted and teacher spoke on the importance of Guru. Children chanted the “Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu” shloka which they had learned in class. Story of Eklavya was also shown. Teachers showed and explained to the children, the display of project, depicting the ancient Gurukul System. The day came to an end peacefully as the blessing of Guru’s gave immense joy to the children.

03.07.2017 Ashadhi Ekadashi Celebrations
‘Ashadhi Ekadashi’ is one of the major festivals celebrated in the state of Maharashtra in India in worship of Lord Vithoba or ‘Vitthala’ as he is lovingly addressed by his devotees.
Pre-primary children celebrated Ashadhi Ekadashi on 3rd July 2017 with great enthusiasm. The Palkhi was decorated beautifully with flowers with lord Vothoba’s photo was placed in it.
Children were attired in traditional costumes as Vithal-Rukhmani and Warkaris. The grand Dindi procession was led by children, carrying the Palkhi in a procession all over the school premises, singing ‘Abhangas’ of Sant Tukaram with the chanting of ‘Vithal Vithal Jai Hari Vithal’. The respective class teachers explained children the importance of Ashadhi Ekadashi , they even showed some video clippings and the project on the same.
All the teachers & support staff members were enchanted by the enthusiasm of the tiny tots and the atmosphere was filled with gaiety and spirituality.
This celebration cheered the children to participate in the rich cultural traditions of our country.
29.06.2017 Puppet Show
Puppets are a great way to spark young children’s imagination, creativity and observation skills. Using puppets is a wonderful teaching technique that can enhance learning. It can motivate and support children with difficulties in communication and interaction.
Keeping this in mind a puppet show was organized on 29th June’ 2017, for Jr. KG., on the topic “My family” and for Sr. KG., on the topic “Back to School".
Through the puppet show certain values and discipline were inculcated in the little hearts. They enjoyed watching the puppets manipulated by their teachers. After the puppet show related questions were asked which children could answer spontaneously.
Thus puppet show was a good tool to capture the attention of young children and make them learn appropriate behavior of school rules and family relations.
21.06.2017 International Yoga Day
Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. The purpose of International Yoga Day is to promote yoga and endeavour towards making it a part of everyone’s daily routine for good health and well being.
The third International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June’ 2017. A team of P.E. teachers conducted a session of Yogasanas for kindergarten. Children enthusiastically participated in performing various asanas. The OM chanting created a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. Children felt refreshed after the yoga session. Teachers also actively participated and felt energized as yoga is worldwide known as an effective technique of physical and mental well being.
21.06.2017 International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day was observed in school to popularize the positive impact of meditation and benefits of Yoga. Students and teachers actively participated in the activities organized by the PE team. Orientation was conducted for the parents of grade 7 to familiarize parents with the working of the institute and Examination patterns.
20.06.2017 Dental Checkup
Dental Checkup was organized by school on 20th June ‘2017. A team of professionals ‘My Dentist’ conducted the dental check-up. All the kindergarten kids teeth were examined and a dental form was duly filled up with suggestions for each child to show to their parents.
Teachers provided basic information regarding dental hygiene (i.e.) eating healthy food and correct brushing habits.
Dentist motivated dental awareness amongst the children.
16.06.2017 Assembly - Self Discipline
Assembly conducted by the students of grade VIII Daisy and VIII Marigold (Secondary). Topic for the assembly was Self Discipline. Orientation was conducted for the parents of grade 9 to familiarize parents with the working of the institute and Examination patterns.
14.06.2017 Walk around the school
To make children familiar with their school surrounding and get them acquainted with various departments in the premises, a walk around the school was organized for them. It was a real pleasure for children to observe different areas like school office, project corner, fish tank, canteen, Principal’s cabin, Assistant Head’s cabin, Coordinator’s cabin, stilt area, quadrangle, and play area. They were excited to see lovely collection of books in the school library.
05.06.2017 World Environment Day
World environment day is celebrated worldwide by the people aiming to protect the unique and life nurturing nature on every 5th June. The theme of this year was to reconnect with nature. To inculcate the importance of nature teachers gave informative talk on World Environment Day with the help of display charts. Children drew pictures of trees and flowers on the slate.
01.06.2017 Orientation and Parents’ Meeting
At the start of the academic year 2017-18, school scheduled an orientation programme which was conducted on 1st June’2017, to familiarize parents with the culture and working of the school. It gives an opportunity to the parents and children to introduce themselves to the teacher and it also acts as a social platform where parents get an opportunity to meet other fellow parents.
Certain guideline were given by the respective class teachers. The pre-primary co-coordinator Ms Smita Bal welcomed the parents and addressed them on the importance of ICSE curriculum, events, activities, and projects. The tiny tots of Nursery and Jr. K.G were welcomed with colourful puppets made by their respective class teachers. The children of Sr. K.G enjoyed the activity of colouring and making attractive finger puppets.
Parents were happy to be associated with the prestigious IES family.

The IES Manik Vidyamandir ‘VIBRANCE’ Exhibition was held on Saturday, 24th September, 2016, from 8.30 am to 12 noon. The exhibition saw active participation from our enthusiastic students of Std I to VIII.
The Exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu, the Principal of IES Manik Vidyamandir. This exhibition was solely devoted to languages and social studies. Mrs. Prabhu went around the Exhibition and applauded the efforts put in by the students thus boosting their morale.
The students were divided into different groups. The Social Studies Exhibition ‘Travelogue’ was held in the basement. The exhibits were divided into different sections such as Constellations, The Wonders of the World, Fundamental Rights, India’s Freedom Struggle, The Union and the State Executive of India, Ancient Civilizations, French corner and Glimpses of World History. against Sharon English School, Mulund West.
The students made amazing and interesting charts and models on all the different topics that were showcased. Interactive games were organized by the students for the parents to enjoy wherein they participated actively. A vibrant dance put up by the students showcased India’s diverse heritage.
The exhibition of the English department was divided into different groups. The senior group put up a show on one scene from ‘Macbeth’ in order to appreciate the flavor of old classics and Shakespearean drama and Role plays to bring to life famous characters from Indian classics. The middle school put up a show on ‘Skimble Shanks’ to hone their speaking skills, to polish their pronunciations and voice modulation. The little ones put up a puppet show on ‘Hansel and Gretel’. To develop language skills, different games on idioms, articles, gender were put up in the stilt area which were enjoyed by students and parents alike.
The Marathi Department had chosen the theme of water conservation and students had prepared relevant models and charts on the topic. These were displayed in the Examination room on the ground floor.
The Hindi Department had chosen the theme of India’s freedom struggle and linked it to the modern day struggle of man against various vices in today’s society. They also showcased the theme via beautiful models, skits and dances.
Small tokens made by the students were given to all those who won in the games in the different sections.
Overall the exhibition was a vibrant and colorful affair where emotions ran high and all contributed wholeheartedly.
MVM : THE CHAMPIONS AT INTER IES SPORTS
17-12-2016 An extremely proud moment in the history of IES MVM.
The Girls team has created a record by achieving championship in all team games such as throw ball, volley ball, hand ball and basketball.
The Girls have secured 1st place in Basket ball
The Boys have secured 1st place in football
Both the teams are WINNERS OF GOLD MEDALS
Boys team has also secured championship in throw ball and football.
Indeed, a GREAT ACHIEVEMENT by MVM, setting up a benchmark of 10 field goals in the final match.Convocation Ceremony
Graduating from Kindergarten is a milestone for preschoolers. The graduation ceremony was organized on 30th March’ 2017. It was a proud feeling of a new beginning as our little ones move forward from kindergarten to Grade One. Children shared their experiences and joyful memories of their journey in kindergarten with their dear friends and loving teachers. They thanked the Principal, Coordinator, Teachers, Support Staff who were responsible for their wonderful growth.
Hindi Divas
The Hindi Divas was celebrated at on 14th September 2016.
A variety of events were organized for different classes.In Std I , each child was asked to introduce themselves in Hindi. against Sharon English School, Mulund West.
Std II children spoke about their favourite toy in 5 sentences.
In Std III, the students spoke about a picture which was given to them randomly.
Std IV and Std V students recited a poem on ‘Nature’ and spoke about their favourite leader respectively.
The judges were in house teachers for all the above mentioned activities / competitions.
Std VI and VII students wrote an essay.
A debate in Hindi was organized for Std VIII students for which the judge was a renowned Hindi poetess- Mrs Madhu Shringhi.
Children got an opportunity to display their creativity and talent in the Hindi language.
The assembly was also presented in Hindi.
An effort was made by all teachers and students to converse in Hindi on the Hindi Divas.

Gudi Padwa
Gudi Padwa is a spring time festival which is celebrated in Maharashtra on the first day of the Chaitra month to mark the beginning of the New Year. This festival was observed with a special Gudi Flag that was showcased on the display board. Informative talk regarding the festival was given to the Kindergarten children.

We take great pride in informing that IES Manik Vidyamandir has topped amongst the Group “C”, and from the 120 schools we have made it to THE TOP 60 SCHOOL’S LIST.

Holi is a joyful festival of colours. On the eve of Holi, people light fire to get rid of evil spirits. This festival was celebrated by giving informative talk through project display of the story – Bhakt Pralhad and Holika. Children even enjoyed watching animated videos on Holi. Teacher explained the use of organic colours and the importance of water.
Everyone wished each other ‘A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLI’.
MEDICAL HEALTH CHECK-UP
A Medical Health check up of students from Std. I to Std. VIII was conducted by a team of Doctors from Lilavati Hospital.
The check up was conducted as follows:
Tuesday 9th Aug. 2016 - Grade VII & VIII, Thursday 11th Aug.2016- Grade V and VI, Tuesday 16th Aug.2016- Grade III & IV, Friday 19th Aug.2016- Grade I & IIStudents were checked for various parameters such as height, weight and overall health and well being. A written feedback was given to all the students with general suggestions for the good health of the students.
Magnificent Win at MSSA Football Tournaments
An account of the Spectacular Win of our students as experienced by our PE Teacher:
“The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning!
This was truly applicable to the students of IES Manik Vidyamandir, as they won the match against Rajhans Vidyalaya, Andheri West, by 5-4. For the first ten minutes, the score was 0-1. But the tables turned when we started scoring and the first goal was scored by Pranav Bhende of Std. X.
Later on, during the second half, Atharva Shinde of Std. X also scored a second goal.
By the end of second half¸ the scores for both the teams was 2-2.
As it was a Knock-out Stage Match, during the penalty shootout, Sarthak Ragade, Parth Sawant and Rohit Patil scored one each goal and the score was 3-2.
In penalty shootout, Atharva Shinde was the goal keeper and he had saved 3 goals.
The final score of the match was 5-4.
WITH THIS THE STUDENTS OF IES MANIK VIDYAMANDIR WON THE MATCH.
We have now qualified for TOP 30 TEAMS in MUMBAI SCHOOL SPORTS ASSOCIATION.(MSSA)
Thus, though it was a harder battle, but the victory is indeed sweeter.

“The Thirst you feel in your throat and lungs will be gone in a minute after the race is over, the pain in your legs within a day, but the glory, when you finish, will last forever.”...This is what the PE teachers told the students when they participated in the MINTHON.
On 7th August, 2016, a MINTHON was organised by BORIVALI YMCA.Our students participated enthusiastically in various categories viz.

Project Day
Creative Project day was organized for our tiny tots.
Jr.KG prepared the project on Railways and Waterways, Sr.KG on Mumbai.
Children brought models and materials like ice-cream sticks, marble, paper, cut outs of different pictures, sand, match boxes, glue to assemble and make their project. They spoke confidently about the same.
Dental Check-up
A Dental Check-up was conducted for the students of Std. I to VIII. Students were checked for their dental wellness and hygiene. A report was given to every student, with guidelines for attention by parents to conditions which needed immediate attention, with regards to the dental health. Some students proudly flashed their dental card which said “Good Oral Hygiene / Health”.

Shiv Jayanti
Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chhrapati Shivaji Maharaj was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervor. Children came wonderfully dressed like Shivaji, Tanaji, Sambhaji, Jijamata, Mavlas and spoke about their characters. To imbibe the true spirit of Chhrapati Shivaji Maharaj Senior KG children performed a small skit on one of the incidence of Shivaji Maharaj. Teachers told stories, sang songs on Chhrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Celebration Of International Yoga Day
21st June is observed worldwide as International Yoga Day.
We at IES Manik Vidyamandir observed the Day with an apt enthusiasm and dignity, as is worthy of the ancient Indian form of healing and rejuvenation, YOGA, maintaining a perfect decorum of solemnity, sanctity and devoutness.
Students assembled in the stilt portion of the school campus, class-wise, and performed pranayam and various aasanas.
The Yoga Day celebrations began with PRANAYAM. All students seated in padmasana position, with eyes closed, in tandem with the cool monsoon breeze, performed the breathing technique... inhale...exhale, concentrating on their breath, taking in as much fresh air into their lungs and exhaling impurities, thus giving a fresh start to the day.
This was followed by the chanting of the OMKAR, all students chanting in unison creating an atmosphere of calmness and tranquillity for the students, the need of the hour, to calm our students and attune them to a day of learning.
Students then performed various aasanas such as vajraasan, padmaasan, taadaasan, ardha chakraasan.
A sense of rejuvenation and freshness prevailed on the students after the session of yoga exercises.
The celebration of the YOGA DAY, thus is a path created for our students to tread on, opening doors to healthy living, a composed and calm demeanour, build concentration and inculcate discipline, the benefits of YOG being multifold.Participation in Minithon

Exhibition on Math, Science and Non Academic Subjects
Our MVM Vibrance got off to a colourful start on Saturday 18th February 2017. Our children showcased their skill and talents in different fields. It was wonderful to see our tiny tot’s exhibit Math and Science subjects in a play way method .The games in Math room were like sand play, comparing sizes through concrete objects, matching shapes through cards, number counting by rolling dice and subtraction through puppet show manipulated by children. At the end children played housie with a twist of Jaldi three.
The Science room was full of different concepts and experiments like states of water, Fragrance Spa, sound shakers, colour mixing rings and activities.
Enthusiastic Manikians exhibited innovative art, craft and music related activities.
The cherry on a cake was our Talent Show.
The highlight of the talent show was the unique glow and hula-hoop dance were children were appreciated the most.
Overall it was a great show.Proud Moment for Manikeans
Our football team has done the school proud by winning the football match against S.V.K.M. J.V. Parekh International School Vile Parle, at Azad Maidan, organised by Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA).
The boys gained a fantastic victory of 9-0, so far the highest score at MSSA. KUDOS TO TEAM MANIKEANS !
Field Trip to Fire Station
A field trip to Fire Station ( Bandra West) for Sr. KG was organized on 9th February 2017.
Children were exposed to the outer world to extend their knowledge about fire fighters. The most valuable part of the field trip was the firemen demonstrating their equipments and explaining how they work. Children got hands on experience about the topic. It was a fun filled, informative experience. Children sang the rhyme ‘Ten little firemen ……” along with their teachers and thanked the firemen for rendering their valuable service to the country.
Talk on Puberty
A ‘Talk on Puberty’ was conducted for the girls of Std. VI to VIII.
Dr. Santoshi Prabhu, a Gynaecologist was invited for the session. Dr. Santoshi Prabhu delivered a talk on growing up and issues related to physical growth, health and hygiene and explained the same through a power point presentation. She also highlighted the importance of a healthy and balanced diet and moderate exercise for the growing girls.
In an interactive session that followed, the girls expressed their queries and Dr. Prabhu pleasantly answered all their queries.Toy Day
Toys play a very important role in child’s life, Children express their feelings; develop their social and emotional skills.
A show and tell activity was organized for our tiny tots. Toys helped children to learn to use descriptive language, practice listening skills and share their special toys with their friends.
Elections for Student Council and Investiture Ceremony
Elections for the Student Council for the Academic Year 2016-17 were conducted on 11th July 2016.
Students contesting the elections were given an opportunity to canvass for themselves two days prior to the elections. The students of Std. I to Std. VIII, all voted to elect their favourite candidates.
The Investiture Ceremony was conducted with great enthusiasm and the solemnity the event demands. Students were ecstatic and delighted to hear the proclamation of the Council Members as the secrecy of the names of students elected was perfectly maintained.
Words of Guidance by the Principal Ms. Pratibha Prabhu and declaration of the names by her, as one by one the ‘Elected Proud’ walked up on the dais to be honoured with sashes and badges, taking up positions with the respective House flags, were the most exhilarating moments of the event.
A solemn farewell to the retreating council was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony of the New Office Bearers as they held the flags of the Houses viz. Aryabhatta, Varahmihir, Gargi and Maitreyi.
Speeches by the retreating as well as the newly elected Head Boy and Head Girl depicted their confidence to lead the School team.
The glittering Investiture Ceremony concluded with words of assurance by the Head Boy and Head Girl for a disciplined and harmonious school environment.
Republic Day Celebration
Republic Day celebration was held on 25th January 2017. Children were given information about the importance of the day through project display, video clippings and patriotic songs. Children marched smartly. The objective of celebrating this day was to instill patriotism in them and give them a sense of belonging to the country.
They were given Indian flag made by them as take away.

Annual Concert
Pre-Primary Annual Concert was celebrated with great zeal, vibrancy and elation on Friday, 20th January 2017. The esteem guest for the evening was Mrs. Karuna Ganesh (Retired head of the department at Medical Social Work LTMG Hospital, Sion).
The show comprised of colourful variety of performances by the budding talents.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the honourable Chief Guest Karuna Ganesh. Followed by a Prayer Dance, Welcome Song, Action Songs, Drama ‘Live and Let Live’ was performed giving the message – ‘Make this world a beautiful place to live for all’. The last programme for the evening was the Rajasthani dance a visual delight, The children danced with perfect steps to the tune and rhythm keeping the audience glued to the stage. The entire programme compering was done by the children, who spoke smartly and confidently. Hat’s off to them.
The programme was a grand success.
Thus our amazing Annual Concert came to a melodic halt with Vande Mataram.
