NEKG observed the ‘Birds of Paradise’ month. The classroom showcased an ‘Aviary’ look. Children were ready with their binoculars {newspaper roll} to observe and watch beautiful colourful birds, bird feeders and nests on trees.
Birds are one of the most beautiful things in nature. Let’s join hands in protecting them and ensuring they have a healthy nature to thrive in. What better way to give a message through stories? Children enjoyed the mesmerizing puppet show. Children actively took part in puppet show and enacted the skit with short dialogues. A background of soft music of bird calls helped the kids to move like birds. Waddle, peck, flutter, flap, fly, hop, chirp, cock-a-doodled-doo, hoot, quack, shrill, whistle, etc. How do you describe a bird? Birds come in an amazing variety of colours and sizes, shapes of the beak, legs and feet.
Activities are an important means of cognitive development. Children describe the bird by their walk, calls and amazing riddles. Children looked adorable cute birdies in the handcrafted outfit and dramatized birds like sparrow, crow, parrot, ostrich, swan, penguin, duck, eagle, birds of paradise, flamingo and macaw with simple but effective innovative ideas by their parents. Children had a fun and wonderful idea to display projects with simple material from their daily use. Through educational videos, children learnt about migratory and extinct bird’s habitats, and characteristics, and they learnt the value of kindness and taking care of nature.
