26/02/2020 : Project on Waterways, Railways and Airways
Projects emphasize learning with activities that are long-term and student-centered. It helps children to relate to the concepts taught in class and helps in visual discrimination. Children in the Pre Primary section had a project making activity in school. The Jr. KG made a project on ‘Waterways and Railways’ where as the Sr.KG class made a project on ‘Airways.’ Children were asked to assemble the project material in the school. They were excited to place the cut outs and the models to make their project presentable and creative. It also helped them to understand how economically materials can be used. Children gave information on the project they had assembled. This helped to achieve the pedagogy of “learning by doing.

20/02/2020 : Field Trip to Taraporevala Aquarium
A field trip is the best tool that we can use to provide every student with real world experiences. To enhance learning, students need to relate what they read to what they have experienced. The curiosity and exploration helps to create a passion in a particular field. Hence, a field trip to Taraporewala aquarium, located at Marine Drive in Mumbai was organized for the Pre Primary section.
Taraporevala aquarium is Mumbai’s oldest aquarium and one of the main attractions of the city. It hosts marine and freshwater fishes. The children saw different specimens of preserved fishes, fossils, seaweeds, some varieties of sea shells and species of fish like sharks, turtles, rays, moray eels, sea turtles, small starfish and stingrays. They were in different sizes, colour and shape. The children were amazed to see the big fish tanks with fossils in it. There was also a show on how breeding of fish is done and how they are taken care of. It was truly an enriching field trip.

19/02/2020 : Shiv Jayanti - Fancy Dress
Shivaji Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the first Chhatrapati and founder of the Maratha Empire, Shivaji, is celebrated on 19th February every year in the state of Maharashtra as well as worldwide by marathi people. Our tiny tots from the Pre Primary section also, celebrated Shiv Jayanti by listening to his stories and watching videos. A fancy dress activity was conducted wherein the children of Nursery, Jr.KG and Sr.KG came dressed as Shivaji Maharaj, Jijabai, Tanaji Malusare and also as mavlas. They spoke few sentences about this great Maratha warrior and his value for Hindavi Swarajya. Children were inspired by this great Maratha hero and enjoyed doing his role play.

14/02/2020 : Final Round of Quiz Contest for Sr. KG.
A quiz contest helps to judge the General Knowledge of the person. It enables students to think from different angles or simply, ‘to think out of the box’. Hence, to enhance the children’s general knowledge, a quiz contest was conducted for the Sr.KG students. The final round participants were selected on the basis of the first round which was conducted on 28th January 2020. The final round was based on visuals and multiple choice questions. The participants were attentive and alert to press the buzzer to give the correct answers. The other children from the Sr. KG class were the audience. There was pin drop silence in the audience as everyone was eager to know who gave the correct answer. Finally, the winners were thrilled to receive their prizes from our Head, Ms Deepa Desai. Thus, it was a knowledgeable experience for one and all present there.

08/02/2020 : Annual School Exhibition
With the splendid start of 2020, ‘Vibrance’ the Annual School Exhibition of IES MVM joyously portrayed its theme, ‘Glimpses of History’. The inauguration of the exhibition was done by the Chief Guest Ms. Smita Padgaonkar, HOD – Mathematics Pawar Public School, Kandivali.
The Kindergarten section was sparkling with colourful charts, drawings, projects, models, power point presentation and performances of the children. The Jr.KG section had a lovely puppet show on ‘Family,’ where the children themselves were manipulating the puppets. The children spoke about the progress of man from traditional to modern way of living. They spoke confidently on topics like traditional cooking, games, communication and transport. The visitors were thrilled to play the traditional games. The Sr. KG showcased their talent with a skit and dance show on the ‘History of Mumbai’. The children were dressed as kolis, coolies, dabbawalas, fisher folks, and bollywood actors and actresses. The purpose of the exhibition was to exhibit what we learn from history and get the knowledge to reshape the present. Thus, the importance of History was touched upon by the Pre Primary section in brief, to understand the wheel of Human progress.

Toys can help children learn many different skills they need in their life. Playing with toys teaches children about sharing, helps develop their fine and gross motor skills, develop problem solving skills and nurtures their creativity. Toy Day was celebrated in the Pre Primary section to learn the importance of toys and to nurture their imagination. Children were excited to bring their favourite toy to school. They spoke confidently about how they played with their toys and who had given them. Later they shared their toys with their classmates and took turns to play with them. It was a fun day for them as they enjoyed playing with their friends. The learning outcome of the Toy Day was ‘Sharing is Caring.
