NARALI PURNIMA & RAKSHA BANDHAN CELEBRATION 2023-24

Raksha Bandhan is a festival that depicts a cultural symbol of Indian society which replicates the brother-sister bond. This is one of the deepest and purest human emotions. Same day we celebrate Narali Purnima. Naral means coconut and Purnima means full moon day. On the full moon day, in the month of Shravan, coconut is offered to the Sea God. The fishermen offer prayers and worship the Sea God for a smooth journey in the waters. Narali Purnima, Shravani Purnima, Rakhi Purnima or Raksha Bandhan are the various names given to this festival.
This festival was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in IES Orion Kindergarten on Tuesday, 29th August, 2023. A PowerPoint Presentation was shown to all the students. Information related to Narali Purnima and Raksha Bandhan was explained to make the students aware of the significance and its rituals. Students came dressed in traditional attire. They enjoyed dancing to the tune of Koli songs and Raksha Bandhan songs. Sr. KG. students spoke confidently about the significance of the festival.
Rakhi making activity was also conducted by all the classes. Students were excited to prepare Rakhi’s using different materials to make it look attractive. The colourful Rakhi’s made by the students’ added flavour to the celebration. Coconut barfi was distributed to all on account of Narali Purnima celebration.
It was truly a day filled with fun and frolic for the students.

FIELD TRIP – STD II & III 2023-24

Orionites of Std II & III visited Tic Tac Tot, which is an exciting playhouse for kids. Students enjoyed the bus journey singing songs and also relishing the delicious snacks served to them. They enjoyed various activities at the play house and visited the bird park, where they saw many colourful birds. The guides at the bird park had arranged a wonderful bird show for the children, it was a unique experience. Finally, they bid farewell to take home the everlasting memories.

FIELD TRIP – STD IV & V 2023-24

The bus journey commenced from school to the 90 Degrees Cake Production Unit. Students were provided snack boxes in the bus. They visited various departments and manufacturing units. They relished the ice-cream and the goodie box offered to them.
Later, the children headed to the Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Centre. The guide informed the children about the important ecological role biodiversity plays in the coastal area and the threats it is exposed to. This experience was a true insight and helped our little ones to understand the ecological diversity.

MONSOON HUNGAMA WEEK 2023-24

To make our little Orionites experience the magic and joy of rain in school, a special Week ‘Monsoon Hungama Week’ was organized from Monday, 21st August 2023 to Friday, 25th August 2023. Various activities were organized throughout the week. Students were shown songs, rhymes, educational videos, and stories related to rain. Few students prepared projects on ‘Rain Cycle’ and ‘Rain Water Harvesting’. They spoke about the project in detail. To make it a fun-filled week ‘Walk in the Rain’ was also organized by the school for students. This was the highlight of the week. Students had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed walking in the rain wearing their raincoats along with their peers. Thus, students had an enriching and fun-filled experience throughout the week.

NAG PANCHAMI CELEBRATION 2023-24

Nag Panchami was celebrated in IES Orion Kindergarten on Monday, 21st August 2023 to remind everyone about the fact that like all other animals we must even care for snakes too. They are considered to be farmer’s best friend as they help our farmers to save his crops from rats and other small animals. The story behind Nag Panchami Celebration was narrated by the teachers through a PowerPoint Presentation. Art activities on the snake were also conducted by all the classes. Nursery class students made clay snakes. Jr.KG. students enjoyed bubble wrap painting and made paper plate snakes. Sr.KG. students made paper folding snakes.

Honours Day 2023-24

It was the time to applaud and reward the students of Std 10 [2022-23] as they were felicitated for their outstanding academic achievements at the ICSE Board exams on 19th August 2023. An eminent personality Mr Anant Pandurang Deshpande graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. It was indeed a proud moment not only for the recipients of the awards but also for their parents who had been invited to partake in the glory of their children’s success. The school acknowledges their sincere efforts and wishes them all the best for their future endeavors.

GRANDPARENTS TALENT CONTEST 2023-24

To bring the hidden talent and their childhood years back, IES Orion Kindergarten organized Grandparents Talent Contest on Saturday, 19th August 2023. The contest started with Lord Ganesh’s prayer. Our grandparents enthusiastically participated in a huge number for the Best out of waste Contest. We experienced all the hidden talents and creativity of the grandparents on that day. It was thoroughly motivational for us to see the huge number of participations from the grandparents. A small take away was given in return to the grandparents. It was indeed a highly motivational and satisfying morning.

Independence Day Celebrations 2023-24

“Out of the sufferings have emerged the strongest souls, for every scar that heals has a virtue to teach.”
The 77th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2023 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the school examination hall. Melodious patriotic songs were sung by the students of Primary and Secondary Section. The flag was hoisted by the school topper Ms. Saher Gole. There was a feeling of pride and patriotism in everyone’s heart. The program concluded with a vote of thanks.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2023-24

On the occasion of 77th Independence Day, IES Orion celebrated the spirit of unity and freedom with great enthusiasm. The chief guest and the Principal were led to the hall along with the march past by the Primary and Secondary Council Members. Our school topper Miss. Seher Gole was invited as the chief guest and she hoisted the National flag, The National Anthem was followed by a speech in Marathi and Hindi by the students. It was a reminder of the struggles of freedom fighters that won us our liberation from the British Raj. Teachers and Primary students contributed the occasion with and patriotic songs which evoked the patriotism for the nation.

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2023-24

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated this national festival on Monday, 14th August 2023 with great pomp. This year Kindergarteners made tri-colour buntings to decorate the school. Project was displayed and students were explained why and how do we celebrate this festival through a PowerPoint Presentation. Students participated in the march-past, sang patriotic songs and were also given a chance to speak a few sentences on Independence Day.

FIELD TRIP – STD I & II 2023-24

It was a very cheerful day as students were filled with zest and enthusiasm for the school field trip. The journey commenced from school to Bounce- Malad in an AC buses where students were provided snack boxes. Students were thrilled and eager to start with their play time. After few warm up exercises and important instructions from the coaches at Bounce, it was time to enjoy with their peers. After lunch a special show was performed for them by the coaches, Students bid farewell to the coaches and the fun filled day came to an end with good memories.

Std 10 Field trip to Durshet 2023-24

Students of Std.10, accompanied by their teachers went on an Educational Field Trip to Durshet Forest Resort, Khapoli. They enjoyed various adventure activities like archery, ropewalk, net climbing, treasure hunt etc. They relished the tasty food and snacks at the resort. Heavy rains failed to dampen their spirits and they participated in all the activities with great enthusiasm. They reached home with sweet memories.

WORLD ELEPHANT DAY 2023-24

‘Save elephants to save this world.’
‘The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.’World Elephant Day is celebrated on 12th August every year to help protect elephants for maintaining the biodiversity of rainforests. This day is marked by raising awareness about the difficulty of the elephants in the forests and also finding out possible ways to protect them. It is dedicated to the preservation and protection of elephants. IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated World Elephant Day on Friday, 11th August 2023. A presentation and a video were shared with our little Orionites. They were explained that the goal of World Elephant Day is to make people aware of the steps that should be taken to prevent extinction of elephants from Africa and Asia. The students also learnt some interesting facts about this animal and the need to save and protect this beautiful creature.

FRIENDSHIP DAY 2023-24

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Friendship Day on Monday, 7th August 2023. On this day, students learnt the value ‘Sharing is caring’. Nursery, Jr. KG. and Sr. KG. class teachers showed videos on Lord Krishna and Sudama’s friendship, songs on friendship and friends. Students understood the importance of friendship in their lives. They danced with their friends expressing their joy on Friendship Day.

LOKMANYA TILAK PUNYATITHI 2023-24

Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak's 103 punyatithi(death anniversary) was observed on Tuesday, 1st August 2023. IES Orion Kindergarten teachers narrated stories related to the life and struggle of this great freedom fighter ‘Lokmanya Tilak’ through an informative talk and PowerPoint Presentation. To encourage our little learners, students were given a chance to share their thoughts about this great freedom fighter. Students talked about his famous slogan "Swaraj is my birth right and I shall have it". A short story was narrated from Tilak’s childhood from which students learnt to be confident and to always speak the truth. His struggle for Independence created an atmosphere of Patriotism among our little Orionities.
