“Amazing hand puppets stimulate imagination and encourage creative play”
The Puppet show organized by IES Orion Kindergarten on Friday, 30th June 2023 enthralled the tiny tots as they watched the characters come alive. All the three sections had a different topic as follows:
Nursery: “Welcome to School”
Jr.KG.: “My Family”
Sr.KG.: “My School”The shows were planned to enable the students to learn to converse and formulate their thoughts and words to the best. It allowed them to explore new personalities and ideas through imagination. The dynamic teachers engrossed the students with their voice modulations, hand gestures and effective use of creative puppets thereby encouraging them to be a part of the story.
The Puppet show not only entertained the little hearts but also taught them good values about care and affection towards family members, obeying the school rules, giving respect to teachers and classmates, being punctual and many more values.
The squeals and the laughter of the students was the proof of the joy and fun they experienced during all the three shows.

ASHADI EKADASHI

Ashadi Ekadashi is one of the most traditional religious festivals celebrated in Maharashtra. This is a festival where people sing and dance in groups praising Lord Vitthal which is called as Dindi. It is the day of fasting and on this day ‘Varkaris’ (devotees of Lord Vitthal) go walking in huge processions to Pandharpur.
IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Ashadi Ekadashi on Thursday, 29th June 2023. The purpose of celebrating this festival was to make the students cognizant of the traditions and culture. On the occasion of this auspicious day, the students were shown an informative PowerPoint Presentation and teachers also played and sang bhajan kirtans of Lord Vitthal. Later the students dressed as lord Vitthal, Goddess Rukmini and Varkaris participated in Mock Dindi which was carried out through the corridors of the school. Few students carried tulsi plant over their heads. Everyone chanted “Jai Jai Vitthal, Jai Hari Vitthal….” The atmosphere was filled with gaiety and spirituality.
The Dindi proceeded towards the primary and the secondary sections where the students greeted the Dindi with loud claps. The procession was taken over by the students of the secondary section who played the band which beautified the Dindi more. The celebration of Ashadi Ekadashi was wrapped by distributing Prasad among the students.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2023-24

IES Orion celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga under the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. Yoga sessions were conducted on Wednesday, 21st June 2023 by the physical education teachers for Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary sections.
General instructions were given by the Yoga teachers regarding the importance and benefits of yoga before the session. The session commenced with a prayer and chanting of the Omkar mantra. This was followed by Suryanamaskar and various standing, sitting, lying down yoga postures by students under the guidance of the Yoga teachers.
Inter-house yoga competitions were conducted to motivate students to include yoga as a part of their daily routine.
IES Orion also celebrated International Day of Yoga for teachers and ancillary staff on Saturday 17th June, 2023. One-hour session was conducted to inspire them to include yoga practice in their daily routine.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21st to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual powers that yoga has brought to the world. Yoga is a practice which plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting people’s immune system.
We, at IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated International Yoga Day on Wednesday, 21st June 2023 with much fervour and enthusiasm. The yoga session for Sr. KG. and Jr. KG. students was conducted by the PE team in the stilt area. Nursery students performed Yoga Asanas in the activity room along with their class teachers.
Warm up exercises were taken and all the students practiced & performed sitting and standing Asanas, importance of these were explained simultaneously followed by ‘omkar’ chanting. Through this event, students were enlightened about the benefits of yoga and the need to remain healthy and fit. The session was enjoyed immensely by the KG students.

WORLD PRODUCTIVITY DAY

Every year on June 20th, World Productivity Day recognizes the importance of being productive. It is also a day for people to learn how to increase their productivity. To facilitate learning and to become more efficient and productive in their studies and daily activities, IES Orion Kindergarten students celebrated World Productivity Day on Tuesday, 20th June 2023. Teachers explained the students about how to utilise their time, energy and paying attention to achieve their goals through an informative talk. Jr. KG. students celebrated this day by playing different puzzle games like buttoning, lacing, zipping, and unzipping in a set period of time. Sr. KG. students did meditation - different techniques of inhaling and exhaling of air like pretending smelling a flower, blowing the bubbles, rainbow breathing and deep breathing. These activities helped the students to reduce the feeling of stress, anxiety and increased their energy levels.

NATIONAL READING DAY

“Read and grow” as the slogan goes, reading is an utmost important element which helps us to gain valuable knowledge, exercises our brain, improves our focus, memory, communication skills and reduces stress.
IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated National Reading Day on Monday, 19th June 2023. Kindergarten teachers introduced Late Shri. P. N. Panicker to students through a PowerPoint Presentation which briefed them about his contribution in spreading the message of reading books to all the citizens. His contribution in setting 6000 libraries and educating masses is commendable.
The National Reading Day in Kindergarten was celebrated through various reading activities. For Nursery students’ teacher narrated the story “The Thirsty crow”. Jr.KG. students had fun reading rebus story on Humpty Dumpty through a PowerPoint Presentation. In Sr.KG. students were shown animated story and teachers read aloud the story of ‘The Giraffe on the farm’. It was an indeed enriching experience.

READING DAY 2023-24

As rightly said by Joseph Addison,
“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” Reading is the secret to inculcating knowledge that can help you through difficult choices in life and expand your imaginative skills largely. We can also learn new words and phrases, experience a range of emotions, and acquire skills and knowledge.
To instill this practice and encourage students, reading day was celebrated in IES Orion on 19th June 2023 (Monday) where students read their favourite stories in their Literature class.
Students not only enjoyed reading but they also shared their experiences with everyone. They look forward to celebrate such special days with zeal and enthusiasm as it ignites the minds and fuels their development.

WALK AROUND THE SCHOOL

“A walk around the school” was organised for the Kindergarten students on Wednesday, 14th June 2023. On this day, the Class teachers of Nursery, Jr. KG. and Sr. KG. respectively took the students around the school to acquaint them to the different work areas of the school.
They explored different school areas such as Principal Madam’s Cabin, Asst. Head Madam’s Cabin, the Admin Office, Coordinator Madam’s cabin, stilt area, school playground, canteen, library, sick bay, staff room, visitor’s lounge and various activity rooms like ball pool room, puppet room, games room, music room, dance room, art room and computer lab. They also explored the labs – Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
Students were able to interact with the school staff. The main objective behind this event was to make students familiar with the school environment. Walk around the school helped the students to know more about their school and developed a sense of belonging for the school.

World Environment Day is the perfect time to appreciate our environment and commit to making changes big and small to protect it.
The theme of World Environment Day 2023 (5th June 2023) was # BEAT PLASTIC SOLUTION.
Our young Orionites took a small step towards combating plastic pollution. They made eco bricks and submitted to their teachers on the World Environment Day.
Also, they donated e-wastes and old bed sheets which will be sent to recycling centres. The recycled products would be donated for a good cause.

Orionites were in for a surprise on the first day of school. They witnessed a ‘dancing humanoid robot’. They danced in delight with the Robot.
The Robotics manufacturing company also gave a brief overview of the functioning of the Robot.
The goal was to spark the interest of the students in technology under the ‘Atal Innovation Mission of Government of India’.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

IES Orion Kindergarten students celebrated World Environment Day on Monday, 5th June 2023 with great zest. The main purpose of the celebration was to create global awareness to take positive environmental actions, to protect nature and the planet earth. It is a day that reminds everyone on the planet to get involved in environment friendly activities. The celebration in Kindergarten began with an introductory speech by the teachers on why and when we celebrate World Environment Day and detailed information was shared with the students through a PowerPoint Presentation.
Different fun filled activities were also conducted to enhance their learning. Students of Nursery Class did a group activity by giving a blue and green wash on the cut-out of the Earth. Jr. KG. students drew trees and coloured the picture with a message of ‘SAVE TREES’. Sr. KG. students prepared a wrist band where students coloured the earth cut out and wrote ‘SAVE EARTH’ on the band.
Students and parents thoroughly enjoyed the activity which gave the message "PROTECT, PRESERVE, AND PROSPER: GO GREEN!"

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

IES Orion Kindergarten students enjoyed their first day of school on Monday, 5th June 2023. On this day, any one parent was allowed to accompany the child in order to make the child feel comfortable in the new school environment. The class teachers of Nursery, Jr. KG. and Sr. KG. respectively conducted a meeting to discuss the important guidelines and give general instructions to the parents about the school. Students enjoyed this day along with their teachers by singing actions songs and rhymes. Welcome puppets were distributed to the students as a token of love. It was a fun-filled day.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

A parent is a teacher at home, a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.
Every new academic year holds new challenges, new avenues to explore and new opportunities to learn. The Kindergarten Orientation was held with a view to get maximum involvement of parents in moulding their children towards successful future.
On Thursday, 1st June 2023 an orientation programme was conducted in the examination hall of IES Orion for the parents of Kindergarten. The programme commenced with the welcome address by the school Principal, Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. Our beloved Principal Madam highlighted the role of the parents in shaping their children especially in the crucial years of their growth. She shared few tips about good parenting and emphasized on spending quality time with their children to unfold the potential and support them to reach their highest calibre. The Coordinator of Kindergarten explained the rules and regulation of the school. This was followed by the formal introduction of the talented and enthusiastic teachers of all the classes.
It was further enunciated by the teachers who briefed the enrichment and co-scholastic activities that promote holistic development of the students. The day ended with parents getting to know the teaching staff, curriculum, various activities and familiarizing themselves with the system and thereby allaying any concern regarding the child’s schooling. This initial interface gave them more clarity as they embarked on this new journey. This certainly was a head start to a new beginning of learning and knowing together!!!!
