GUDI PADWA
21/03/2023
Gudi Padwa is an Indian festival that marks the beginning of the New Year and the harvest season for the people of Maharashtra. Gudi is the word used to refer to Lord Brahma’s flag (which is hoisted on this day) while Padwa is derived from the Sanskrit word which refers to the first day of the bright phase of the moon.
This festival is celebrated on the first day of the month of Chaitra, according to the Hindu calendar. This day is also symbolic of the season of Vasant or spring in India. Besides Maharashtra, it is also observed under different names in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu as well.
We, at IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Gudi Padwa on Tuesday, 21st March 2023. The “Importance and Significance of the Festival of Gudi Padwa” was explained to the students through a PowerPoint Presentation.
Festivals are the pillars of our culture and heritage. Celebrating festivals helps us to pass on the values to our next generation.

HOLI CELEBRATION
06/03/2023
The most colourful and vibrant festival of India – Holi was celebrated with great pomp and fervour at IES Orion Kindergarten on Monday, 6th March 2023.
Holi is the festival which commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the evil demon named Holika. So, the spirit of Holi taught the students to follow good conduct in life and believe in the virtue of being truthful and honest. The festival marks the end of winter and the abundance of the upcoming spring harvest season.
The importance of the festival was explained by the teachers through a PowerPoint Presentation. Teachers explained the reason of celebrating the festival ‘Holi’, how it should be celebrated and why it is celebrated by narrating a story based on Holika Dahan. Animated videos on Holi and how to make natural colours at home were shown in all the classes. Students were advised to use natural colours and to conserve water. A project on Holi was displayed and explained to the students by the teachers. Our little Kindergarteners welcomed the spring by dancing on Holi Celebration Songs.
