Field Trip to Natventure Camp Magic Forest 2023-24

Students got an opportunity to explore the world beyond the four walls of the classroom at the Natventure Camp. They enjoyed rope climbing, Warli painting, horticulture, medicinal plants, paddy fields etc. The aim of the trip was to take the students closer to nature and instil in them a sense of appreciation and gratitude towards mother nature for all the resources we get. Our curious young minds interacted with the professional tour guides and asked various queries which were happily answered by them.

GANDHI JAYANTI AND LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI JAYANTI 2023-24

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti on Friday, 29th September 2023 with great ardor and fervor during school hours.
Through an informative PowerPoint Presentation teachers stressed on the value of speak no evil, hear no evil, and see no evil. Students were also exposed to the life and struggle of both the leaders through effective PowerPoint Presentations and stories. Lal Bahadur Shastri also used to follow Gandhiji's principles. We need leaders like Shashtriji, who called the people of the nation to support farmers and soldiers through his statement 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' and take our country towards the path of development and progress.
The tiny tots delivered short speeches highlighting the quotes of these great legendary leaders and conveyed their noble messages in the most effective and influential manner. Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. students also shared their thoughts and a few sentences on ‘My Dear Bapuji.’ Teachers motivated the students to inculcate the valuable qualities of simple living and high thinking.

PUPPET SHOW 2023-24

“Amazing hand puppets stimulate imagination and encourage creative play…!”
Puppets can stimulate children's imagination, encourage creative play and discovery and are a wonderful interactive way to encourage language development. Puppets open a door to a child's imagination allowing them to create, explore and flourish. Breathing life and fun into classroom learning, puppet play is a powerful teaching tool in early education settings. Student’s joy of watching puppets dancing and performing before them is enigmatic.
The students of IES Orion Kindergarten experienced the same joy while watching the Puppet Show which was organized on Wednesday, 27th September 2023. The theme of the Puppet Show was “Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy.” The puppet show was planned to enable the kids to learn to converse and formulate their thoughts and words to the best. It was conducted for Nursery, Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. students. The importance of eating healthy food was shared with the Kindergarteners through a story and was narrated to the students with the help of puppets.
The dynamic teachers engrossed the students with voice modulations, hand gestures and effective use of creative puppets thereby encouraging them to be a part of the story. The show of Puppets changed the entire classroom, developing more possibilities for creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and curiosity. The puppet show not only entertained the little hearts but also motivated them to eat healthy food.
The whole show was undoubtedly, a visual treat for all Kindergarten students.

FIELD TRIP TO SIDDHIVINAYAK TEMPLE 2023-24

The Shri Siddhivinayak Mandir is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai. It was originally built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on 19th November, 1801. It is one of the most popular temples in Mumbai. The popular belief is that Siddhivinayak Ganpati fulfils the wishes of anyone who prays at this temple with a true heart.
To seek the blessings of Lord Shree Siddhivinayak, IES Orion Kindergarten had planned a field trip to Siddhivinayak Temple. On Tuesday, 26th September 2023 we visited the temple. Students and teachers gathered early morning, boarded buses, and embarked on a journey to the renowned temple. It was a joyful day where everyone experienced spiritual ambiance of the temple. Teachers and students participated in rituals and offered prayers to Lord Ganesha. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with chants and the aroma of incense.
The trip concluded with a sense of unity, spirituality, and joyful memories. A day full of blessings of the almighty for the little Orionites.

Swachhta hi Sewa / Garbage-free India 2023-24

IES ORION School celebrated ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Campaign from 25th to 30th September 2023.
The following activities were conducted by the school:
• Presentation in The Assembly followed by ‘Swachhta Shapath’ Through an informative PPT teachers sensitized students on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their environment. They were made aware of the significance of Swachhta Diwas on 2nd October 2023. Children read out the Swachhta Shapath during the assembly.
• Essay/Poem writing activity was conducted in school. [Theme: Swachhta hi Sewa /Garbage-free India]
• Students participated in Painting/Drawing/Poster making activity. [Theme: Swachhta hi Sewa /Garbage-free India]

GANESH CHATURTHI 2023-24

As every year IES Orion welcomed Lord Ganesha with great enthusiasm. The Ganesha idol was carried to each floor for the students to view with staff dancing with lezhim and students playing the band. Echoes of ‘Ganapati Bappa Moriya’ Arthi and devotional songs were sung by the staff in praises of the deity. All the students and the staff came together to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

GANPATI CELEBRATION 2023-24

May Lord Ganesh give us - A rainbow for every storm, a smile for every tear, a promise for every care, and an answer to every prayer.
Festivals build group cohesiveness, bring people together, break the monotony of routine, and energise the body, mind and spirit. Echoing the festive spirit, the students of IES Orion Kindergarten enjoyed Ganpati Celebration with much zeal and zest in school on Monday, 18th September 2023.
Lord Ganesha is the first to be worshipped among all the Gods in Hindu mythology. He is known as the God of prosperity and wisdom who removes all obstacles, bestows happiness and spreads peace.
We commenced Ganpati celebration on Friday, 15th September 2023 through clay moulding activity. Nursery, Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. students made Ganesha with clay and decorated it with sequences and other decorative materials. They made beautiful clay Modaks, Mushak Raj, Ladoos etc.
On Monday, 18th September 2023 Kindergarten students came dressed in colourful traditional wear. Teachers narrated the story of Lord Ganesha’s birth through PowerPoint Presentation and animated videos. Our school Ganpati Bappa procession was joined by our tiny tots by chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya” and also through shlokas.
Later in the school examination hall Kindergarten students sang devotional songs and recited various mantras in Lord Ganesha’s praise. They performed Aarti and seeked Lord Ganesha’s blessings. Overall, the students of kindergarten celebrated the festival with full enthusiasm and zeal.

The Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at IES Orion was a beautiful expression of devotion, culture, and unity. It allowed students and staff to come together, celebrate, and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.Students enjoyed dancing, singing devotional songs, and participating in cultural performances. The atmosphere was filled with joy, unity, and a sense of togetherness.

Field Trip to Saguna Baug 2023-24

Students of Std 6th and 7th accompanied by their teachers went on an Educational Field Trip to Sauguna Baug which is an Agro Tourism farm with adventure sports and activities located at the foothills of Matheran. Getting away from the everyday atmosphere of the classroom gave students an opportunity to spend time with each other in a new environment. Students had a fantastic time and it was very much helpful for developing the aesthetic sense, exploration skills, imagination, and co-operation amongst them.

Hindi Diwas Celebrations 2023-24

Hindi Diwas’ was commemorated on 24th September as an endeavour to develop vocabulary, fluency and linguistic expression amongst students in Hindi Language. Students participated in a variety of items – song, drama and poetry– all in our national language, Hindi. The programme truly helped the students to explore their Hindi Language knowledge with different hues and flavours.

Language is the road map of a culture. Hindi was adopted as the official language of our nation, India, on 14th September, 1949.
To pay tribute and to mark the importance of country’s most widely spoken language; IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Hindi Divas on Thursday, 14th September 2023. Informative PowerPoint Presentation on Hindi Divas was shown by the class teachers in their respective classes. The presentation included information about when do we celebrate Hindi Divas, why do we celebrate Hindi Divas and how it is celebrated in schools and colleges in India.
After the presentation, an animated story video in Hindi was shown in each class. Nursery students enjoyed watching the story “Jaanvaron Ki Sair.” “Buddhimaan Hathi” was the story which was shown to Jr.KG. students. Sr.KG. students had a good time watching the story “Paanch Matar.”
A Sr.KG. student, Jiyansh Joshi, recited Vishwa Prarthana in Hindi with great confidence during the school assembly. The effort of our tiny tots to converse in Hindi throughout the day was appreciated.

ORION BAZAAR 2023-24

Orion Bazaar set up is a great way to develop money management skills and financial literacy among students. It is a wonderful opportunity wherein students learn basic concepts like money, price, change, as well as activities like buying, shopping, budgeting and saving.
Orion Bazaar set up was held by IES Orion Kindergarten on Saturday, 9th September 2023. Students from Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. participated in this event with great enthusiasm. Jr.KG. students were dressed up as Green Grocers and sold a variety of fruits and vegetables. Sr.KG. students sold different kinds of grocery items with their parents/grandparents assistance. The remaining students of Nursery, Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. classes visited the Orion Bazaar as buyers. They went to different stalls to buy fruits, vegetables and grocery items along with their parents. This hands-on experience gave them practical knowledge of buying and selling goods.

JANMASHTAMI 2023-24

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated in IES Orion Kindergarten on Wednesday, 6th September 2023 with mirth and joy. Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna, one of the most powerful and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksh or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapad.
Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great pomp and festivity by the tiny tots of the Kindergarten section. Students dressed as Radha – Krishna, gave a traditional touch to the entire celebration. Teachers narrated a story of Lord Krishna's birth through PPT and videos and explained the reason behind celebrating this festival.
The premise was decorated beautifully which enhanced the spirit of festivity. Cute little Radha’s and Krishna’s danced around the Dahi Handi, to the beats of Janmashtami songs, filling the air with joy and festive spirit. Students enjoyed participating in the Mock Dahi Handi by making a human pyramid with the help of their teachers.
Students enjoyed participating in creative activities on the occasion of Janmashtami. Nursery students enjoyed colouring and decorating Lord Krishna’s Matki (pot). Jr.KG. students were delighted to make Lord Krishna’s beautiful headgear. Sr.KG. students enthusiastically participated in craft work and made colourful flutes.

TEACHERS’ DAY 2023-24

Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September every year. It is the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was the first Vice-President and second President of Independent India. He was a wonderful teacher who taught in various colleges of University of Mysore and Calcutta. He was awarded Bharat Ratna for his great contribution to our country.
IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Teachers’ Day on Tuesday, 5th September 2023. It's a day to remember and acknowledge the positive influence, teachers have on the students. The respective class teachers of kindergarten showed an informative PowerPoint Presentation on Teachers Day. It was followed by an animated video on “Why do we celebrate Teachers Day.”
Students understood the importance of a teacher or a guru in their life. On Teachers’ Day, students appreciate and express gratitude towards teachers who hold a significant place in our lives.

HEALTHY FOOD FIESTA WEEK 2023-24

“A HEALTHY OUTSIDE STARTS FROM A HEALTHY INSIDE”
It is important to inculcate healthy eating habits in students from the beginning to lead a healthy lifestyle. IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated “Healthy Food Fiesta Week” from Monday, 4th September 2023 to Friday, 8th September 2023 to make students aware about the fact that eating right is a key to healthy living and good eating habits go a long way in improving our health and nourishing the body. A fit and active lifestyle demands the right nutrition for the body to function.
Students were given an insight into healthy food and good eating habits through various activities in a fun filled way.
To know the importance of Vitamins students brought slices of fruits on Monday, 4th September 2023.
Vegetables play a very important role in our diet and to understand this better students brought Vegetable Salad on Tuesday, 5th September 2023.
Leafy vegetables should be a part of our diet so students got food prepared from leafy vegetables on Wednesday, 6th September 2023.
Our little Green Grocers of Nursery set up their vegetable market to explore, learn and observe real vegetables. They dressed up as Vegetable Vendors (Green Grocers) and performed role play on Monday, 4th September 2023.
Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. students shared their views and thoughts on Healthy Food and Junk Food using charts and flash cards on Tuesday, 5th September 2023.
For Science and Sensorial, activities were conducted on Friday, 8th September 2023.
Sr.KG. students brought a piece of boiled corn cob for the activity. They removed the corn kernels and prepared “Corn Bhel”.
Jr.KG. students brought one boiled potato for “Aaloo Chat” activity. They peeled the potato and made “Aaloo Chat”.
Nursery students brought one unpeeled banana and few slices of other fruits to make the fruit salad. They peeled the banana with teacher’s assistance and cut them into small pieces.
Hands on Experience: Orion Bazaar Setup.
Jr.KG. & Sr.KG. students participated in the Orion Bazaar set up on Saturday, 16th September 2023. Students of Jr.KG. dressed up as GREEN GROCERS where they got the experience to observe, handle and sell a variety of fruits and vegetables whereas, Sr.KG. students sold different kinds of grocery items. Their parents and grandparents also accompanied them for selling.
Thus, the Healthy Food Fiesta Week was a great learning experience for the students of Kindergarten.

GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION 2023-24

Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation, keepers of traditions, and the founders of a loving legacy. Their special love and care hold the family together. To honour their unconditional love, IES Orion Kindergarten organized Grandparents Day Celebration on Saturday, 2nd September 2023 in Pracharya B. N. Vaidya Auditorium. Teachers welcomed the grandparents with a warm smile and made them comfortable in their seats. The function began with the lighting of the lamp by our Chief Guest Mrs. Anuradha Kolhatkar and our Principal Madam Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu.
Our Principal Madam addressed the grandparents. She extended a warm welcome to all the grandparents and thanked them for the important role they play in the family. To make this day a special one for the Grandparents various programs were organized by the students and the teachers.
The students were very excited to showcase their love for their grandparents and this was evident on their faces while they performed. Sr. KG. students welcomed their Grandparents with a lovely welcome dance. This was followed by a retro mash-up dance of old Hindi film songs by our little Orionites of Jr. KG. Sr. KG. students performed a Fashion Show for the Grandparents.
Grandparents enthusiastically participated in all the games (Pehechan Kaun, Guess the Song Tune and Spot Prizes) organized for them. Their robust participation added a spark to the celebration. Sr. KG. students sang a song on "Dada, Dadi, Nana, Nani". It was a moment of elation to see the happiness ushering on the faces of all the grandparents on seeing their grandchildren perform.
Mayuresh Sir dedicated a heart-touching song that left the grandparents spellbound. Students of Sr. KG. on behalf of all the students expressed their gratitude to all the grandparents.
Grandparents Best Out Of Waste Talent Contest prizes were announced. The winners were greeted with gifts, which brought a twinkle to their eyes.
The main highlight of the program was the medley dance which the grandparents participated in and performed zealously. The whole auditorium was filled with joy and laughter. It created a cheerful atmosphere.
All the grandparents thoroughly enjoyed themselves to the fullest. The event culminated with a vote of thanks given by Swati teacher followed by the National Song by Mayuresh Sir.
