ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2023-24

IES Orion conducted the Annual sports day on Police Parade Ground at Ghatkopar East. The Theme for the sports meet was "VASUDHEIVA KUTUMBAKAM"

Shri Akshay Shetty, a National Athlete, was the chief Guest for the event. Program started with fabulous march past by the students of std III to V. Mascot with the theme Vasudheiva Kutumbakam, was released with the gas balloons by the Chief Guest, Shri Akshay Shetty and Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. Sports Meet was introduced with displays by the students for Judo, Gymnastics and hand ball. Exercises performed by Std I and II students was mesmerizing. Various final races were conducted of the semifinalists and the winners were awarded with medals and certificates.

FIELD TRIP TO VEERMATA JIJABAI BHOSALE UDYAN 2023-24

IES Orion Kindergarten students are often exposed to a variety of activities and field trips to enhance their hands-on learning experience. Jr.KG. students were taken on a field trip to Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan which is also popularly known as Byculla zoo, as a part of Animal Safari Week celebration on Tuesday, 12^th December 2023.

At the zoo, all excited students witnessed wild animals such as Tiger, Hyena, Cheetah, Deer, Elephant, Nilgai, Hippopotamus, Monkeys etc. kept in separate enclosures and teachers gave detailed information about each animal. There was an aviary for aquatic birds where students could walk through this separate enclosed section on a wooden bridge, where all the beautiful birds were housed. The Rani Baug Penguin enclosure was an attractive addition to the zoo. Here, students saw Seven Humboldt Penguins which were kept in the dedicated cooled chambers that mimicked their natural habitat. Students got a chance to closely observe each and every animal in the zoo.

Our little Orionites were engrossed in observing their natural habitat and characteristics. Students had a fun-filled day and enjoyed the field trip to Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan.

ANIMAL SAFARI WEEK 2023-24

Animal Safari week was celebrated for IES Orion Kindergarten students from Monday, 11^th December 2024 to Friday, 15^th December 2023. The main objective of organising the Animal Safari Week was to enable the kindergartners to learn more about animals and their natural habitat. Students were exposed to various modules, facts about animals through rhymes, PowerPoint Presentations and animated videos. It was a thrilling experience for the little Orionites that left an informative trail about animals in their minds.

Various creative activities were also conducted for our little Orionites on Wild Animals. On Thursday, 14th December 2023 our Kindergarten students shared their knowledge and spoke on wild animals.

Overall, the Animal Safari Week provided a valuable and enjoyable experience, fostering curiosity, empathy, and respect for wildlife.

DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR PUNYATITHI 2023-24

Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was a great personality. He was a politician, an economist, a social reformer, a thinker, an educationist and a freedom fighter. He is popularly known as the "Father of the Indian Constitution". He received "Bharat Ratna" award in 1990 for his contribution in making the constitution and serving the Indian society. This year 2023, was observed as 68^th Mahaparinirvan Divas (Punyatithi) of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar all over India.

IES Orion Kindergarten also paid homage to the great social reformer Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Tuesday, 5^th December 2023. Teachers shared an informative PowerPoint Presentation about his great work for the upliftment of the society. Our little Orionites also shared a few sentences on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on this day. Babasaheb always talked and dreamt of such an Indian society in which all people will be considered equal.

WATER PLAY 2023-24

“Making a splash one day at a time Dive into adventure”
It is time for some water play!

Children love water play. Apart from being fun, children find water play very calming. Besides, water play helps children to develop their eye-hand coordination through various activities such as pouring, stirring and squeezing. Additionally, gross motor skills are also developed through activities such as splashing, kicking, wadding their limbs through the water.

All the little learners of IES Orion Kindergarten from Nursery, Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. enjoyed their second Water Play activity from Monday, 4^th December 2023 to Monday, 11^th December 2023. Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. Golden Sun students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Monday, 4^th December 2023. Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. Silver Moon students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Thursday, 7^th December 2023. Jr.KG. and Sr.KG. Bright Star students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Friday, 8^th December 2023. And Nursery Golden Sun and Silver Moon students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Monday, 11^th December 2023.

Students attired in colourful swimming costumes, goggles, pool caps enjoyed their water play activity. Bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm, the students had a great fun while jumping in the water, splashing water at their friends and playing with floating toys. Some of them even tried to swim in their own sweet way. It was a fun-n-frolic activity and the little ones enjoyed it to the fullest.
