Sports gives us good exercise which makes us physically strong and increases our stamina and strength. Regular Sports activities make children active and lead to good health. Our sports team organized various events and Interhouse Competitions as follows:

Improves arm muscles and upper body strength. Develops agility of hands and feet, with sudden changes of pace and direction required. Improves mental focus and self-confidence.

Field Trip To Byculla Fire Station

Senior KG students visited Byculla Fire Station. Actual demonstration was shown to the students which helped them to understand the topic “Community Helper- Fireman”. This demonstration was given along with the fire apparatuses. They were thrilled to watch the huge fire engines with huge air lifted cranes, the flow of water with great force from the hose pipe, Sound of Siren and other firefighting apparatus. Even ‘Robot Fire Engine’ was shown to them. It can be operated with remote control and can perform tasks too risky for people.
‘Thank you card’ was given as a token of appreciation for the hard work put in by ‘Fire Fighters’ who have dedicated their lives to protecting others from flames that can occur due to a myriad of reasons anywhere, at any time.

Republic Day

Our little Patriots coloured ‘National Flag’ and made ‘Flag Badges’. They shared information on ‘Republic Day’ and Freedom Fighters of India. Nursery students made a big tricolor flag with finger painting.
The project was displayed and information about the ‘Indian Constitution’ was delivered by teachers.
Students marched like soldiers in the corridor and saluted our ‘National Flag’ and ‘Freedom Fighters’ and promised that they will keep their beloved country ‘India’ ‘Clean and Green’.

Thanks Giving Week (Community Helpers)

Without ‘Community Service’, we would not have a strong quality of life….
‘Thanks Giving Week’ was celebrated in Orion to inculcate the value of ‘Dignity of Labour’. A project was set up and this was supported by a power point presentation.
Students dressed up as ‘Community Helpers’ and enjoyed enacting the characters. They shared information with different material on the topic ‘Community Helpers’ to facilitate learning.

Grandparents Day

Grandparents are a delightful blend of love, laughter and caring deeds.
This special event was organized for our ‘Dear Orion Grandparents’.
All the Grandparents, maternal as well as paternal, enthusiastically participated in the celebration. Various entertaining games were specially organised for them.
Principal madam Mrs.Pratibha Prabhu interacted with grandparents and shared her views.
Pre Primary teachers showed their love and respect for grandparents through beautiful dance performances. Grandparents performed on various melodious ‘Bollywood’ songs and actively participated in the celebration. Some of them participated in solo performances like dancing and poetry reading.
Prizes and Gifts were distributed. Every moment of this event was enjoyed thoroughly.

Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is celebrated in many parts of the Indian subcontinent with some regional variations. At Orion, it was celebrated in a unique manner. A huge colourful paper kite was made to fly in the sky with the help of balloons spreading the message of happiness everywhere. It was truly a feast for the eyes to watch beautiful kite flying with colourful balloons.
Kite making activity was conducted on Monday 13/01/2020 as a part of a ‘Science Activity’. Students made paper kites of different colours and played on the ground with great joy. They promised not to hurt birds while flying kites.
Concept related to air, heavy and light was explained to the students. Sesame (Til) Laddoos were distributed as a source of energy during winter season. Students were made aware that this festival is dedicated to the ‘Sun God’ and also marks the beginning of a six month auspicious period known as ‘Uttarayana’.

Field Trip to ‘Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna’

Sr. KG students visited ‘Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna’ Matunga, one of the oldest religious institutions in the city of Mumbai.
Students were thrilled by the unique atmosphere that prevails in church.
They were overjoyed at seeing a big setup of a Crib (scene of the Nativity or birth of Jesus), the decorated ‘Christmas tree’ with lights, shiny balls, sparkly tinsel and other ornaments, a wreath of leaves and mistletoe, Confession box, mirror paintings of the birth events of Jesus Christ and statues of Mother Mary, Joseph and Jesus Christ, the baby Jesus with Mary, His mother. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ was narrated. Students thanked Father Fernandez and ‘Thank you card’ along with Flowers were presented as a token of gratitude.
