GK Quiz Competition

Gk Quiz competition was held on 29th June 2019 at IES Manik Vidyamandir.
The grades participating in the Gk Quiz competition were from I to V. There were three rounds for Grade I and II:
Round 1 – Multiple Choice Questions
Round 2 - Guess the Picture
Round 3 – Rapid FireThere were four rounds for Grade III, IV and V:
Round 1 – Multiple Choice Questions
Round 2 - Guess the Picture
Round 3 – Audio/Visual
Round 4 – Rapid FireThe participants were curious and excited about the Gk Quiz rounds. The participants played Gk Quiz very enthusiastically. The quiz was a great success and participants enjoyed it a lot. The evolving curious minds that emerged as winners were students of both the teams of Grade III, IV and V of IES Orion. Everyone clapped and cheered for the ecstatic winning team.

Puppet Show

An entertaining and informative puppet show was conducted for Nursery, Jr.KG and Sr.KG.
Nursery:Songs on ‘Animals’
Jr.KG: A puppet show on ‘My Family’ and the role and importance of each family member.
Students made small paper house and sketched members of the family inside it.
Sr.KG:A puppet show on ‘My School’ and the different areas of the school, disciplinary and safety rules, the mode of transport and the safety measures they should follow while travelling to school.
Students made small paper school bag.

Elections for Student Council Members 2019-20

Students of Grade VIII and IX contested the elections to the Student Council 2019-20.
Photographs of all contestants were taken and videos of the students canvassing, were recorded which were uploaded on Google forms.
Online voting was done. IES Orion gas been adopting E-Voting system for the election of the Student Council. E-Voting which is electronic voting involved the casting of votes online using the computer. The voting process had took place in the school premises under the scrutiny of the teachers to ensure just and fair process of election. The students voted for their favourite candidate by the click on the mouse instead of using the old system of the ballot paper.
Students of Grade 1 to 10 voted on in the computer lab. The excitement being very high, as they voted and also received a mark on the left fore finger, proof of casting their vote.

International Yoga Day

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. The importance of ‘Yoga’ was explained such as ‘Yoga’ helps to control our mind and maintain a healthy body. It helps people to lead disciplined life.
Students and teachers enthusiastically participated in ‘Yoga Day’ by practicing yoga.
Pre Primary students enjoyed simple yoga exercises like tree pose, mountain pose, crescent moon pose, butterfly pose, chair pose, raised arms pose and standing forward bend pose etc.

International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day was observed by the students of Pre – Primary to Grade 10 on 21st June 2019.
‘ Yog is a way of life, a way to inculcate discipline and good health’, was the message imparted to the students.
MS. MANISHA DESAI, Yoga Teacher at YOGA VIDYA NIKETAN, guided our students explaining the importance of Yoga in our lives.
Students performed various AASANAS viz.

Walk Around The School

Students were taken around the campus and introduced to the different working areas of the school like Administration office, Principal Madam’s cabin, Sick Bay, Game rooms, Free Activity room, Computer room, Art room, Library, Stilt area, School ground and Canteen to make them familiar with school environment and the people who work at school.
Principal Madam welcomed all Pre Primary students in her cabin and interacted with them to make them comfortable.
Students were excited to walk around the huge ‘Orion Building’.

GK Quiz Competition

GK Quiz competition was held for students of Grade 1 and 2 in one batch and Grade 3 to 5 in another batch, on 15th June 2019, in the Examination Hall.
There were four rounds:
Round 1 – Multiple Choice Questions
Round 2 - Guess the Picture
Round 3 – Audio/Visual
Round 4 – Rapid FireThe students and participants were curious and excited about the Gk Quiz rounds. The participants played GK Quiz very enthusiastically. The questions put forth to the teams were intriguing, exciting and made the audience go ‘Aah!’ and clap when the teams answered correctly. The audience also got a chance to participate every time the teams answered incorrectly. The quiz was a great success and children enjoyed it a lot. The evolving curious minds that emerged as winners were students of Yellow house. Everyone clapped and cheered for the ecstatic winning team.

ORIENTATION for GRADES VI to X

An orientation program was held for grade VI to X in phases from 11th June to 15th June 2019.
The principal addressed each grade parents. To begin with she proudly shared the results of the first batch of Grade X of IES Orion. She informed the parents of the 100% results of grade X and also shared the highest marks in each subject. She urged the parents to support the students in raising the bar further so that we can have a national topper next year.
This was followed by an interaction of the parents with the subject teachers. Each subject teacher told about the course of action planned over the year and discussed about the syllabus and the tests that would be conducted to evaluate the students. They also emphasized on regular studies to be undertaken by students to get a better result.
The Coordinator discussed the general rules of the schools and requested the parents to check their calendars once in a while. They were also advised to keep a close watch on their studies and guiding them whenever required. -
Orientation for Parents of Grade I to V

Orientation for Parents of Grade I to V were conducted on 6th, 7th and 10th June 2019.
The Principal Ms. Pratibha Prabhu addressed the Parent Gathering. Madam informed the parents about the outstanding results of the 1st Batch of the school, 100% results. Principal Madam briefed the parents about rules and regulations followed by ICSE, various do’s and dont’s to be followed by parents for the betterment and best interest of the students under our care.
The working pattern of the school, the Internal Assessments, Examination pattern, other related information was shared by the Primary Coordinator in a presentation. -
World Environment Day

‘School Assembly’ was conducted on the eve of “World Environment Day” A beautiful song and an informative speech were delivered by Primary students. Power point presentation and appropriate message like ‘Save Earth’ was displayed. Students made beautiful drawings with the message ‘Go Green’ and ‘Save Environment’ and the circular badges with ‘Save Earth’ message. Teachers explained students that this day is observed every year on 5 June’ to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect “Mother Earth”.

JUNE COMES AND BACK TO SCHOOL

Students were greeted with colourful ‘Welcome Puppets’ and packet of cookies. They introduced themselves and thus interacted with their classmates and teachers. Students enjoyed playing in Play Area.

Orientation and Parents Meeting

The school reopened with great excitement. Orion Principal ,Ms.Pratibha Prabhu, welcomed parents and students for the new academic year 2019-20. Orientation was conducted to update the parents with the curriculum and activities of Pre Primary section. Presentation was shown and the detail information was delivered by Pre Primary Coordinator. All doubts were cleared and all questions were answered with satisfactory answers. ‘Class Meeting’ was conducted by respective class teachers to familiarize parents with the working pattern of the school. A good rapport was built with the parents.
