A visit to a garden or a park is quite refreshing and educative.
Nursery students visited ‘Pracharya B.N.Vaidya Udyan’ and spent some quality time in the beautiful company of nature. The garden was full of trees and plants. Its shady trees and its green sunny lawns provided ample of opportunities to our tiny tots to explore beauty of the nature. They played on slides and swings.
They had a worthy time in the garden. It presented a feast of joy to them. -

EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIP TO NEHRU SCIENCE CENTRE
14/11/2019
“The Science of Today is the Technology of Tomorrow.”
14th November is celebrated as Children’s Day and it was celebrated very wonderfully by IES Orion School. We organized a field trip for the students to Nehru Science Centre with an aim to develop scientific attitude and temper, to create, inculcate and sustain a general awareness amongst the students.
The students of STD 6 to 10 were taken to the Nehru Science Centre. 521 Children & 29 Staff visited the place. Penguin Holiday Tour was appointed by the school to arrange an organized trip to the Nehru Science Centre.
Nehru Science Center (NSC) is the largest interactive science centre in India. The centre is named after the India’s first Prime Minister,Jawaharlal Nehru. It is a wonderful initiative that covers various aspects of science and technology in a way that is both interesting and informative.
As we reached the centre, students had a glimpse of some interesting model of a steam and electric train and horse carriages.
Then we proceeded towards the Science exhibition gallery where the students explored and learnt various topics related to: Light and sight, Human and machine, Sound and hearing, Prehistoric animal life, Aerospace, mirrors, Evolution and discovery, Machine to think, Hall of nuclear power, Our technology and heritage, Climate change, Energy model.
After exploring the exhibition gallery children watched a show ‘Science on a Sphere’. It is a giant animated sphere floating in mid air in the centre which provides very important information about each planet’s atmospheric and climatic data. It presents high-resolution video on a suspended globe rather than a flat screen, with the aim of better representing global phenomena. Animated images of atmospheric storms, climate change, and ocean temperature are shown on the sphere to explain these complex environmental processes. It enhanced students knowledge about different planets and also gave a better understanding of the earth’s land, atmosphere and oceans.
Children Science Park is enriched with varieties of plants, trees and shrubs. It also exhibited varieties of scientific objects and an amazing scientific sculptures of great scientists, children enjoyed looking at this fascinating and marvellous sight.
Another most exciting large format science film titled “Aircraft Carrier: Guardians of the Sea”, at the Science Odyssey facility of the Centre. Projection on a dome shaped screen with fish-eye lens projector to give immersive experience. An intuitive and captivating way of looking at the world.
This film is about the state of the art technology that is used in building the magnificent Aircraft Carrier, which is used in defending the world’s oceans that has become far more complex and challenging in recent years, and naval aviation has become increasingly vital to its success. Rarely has there been a topic so visually suited and compelling for fully immersive and other giant screen theatres.
The 45 minutes film having incomparable large format images, is an example of merging education with entertainment. The 3-D effects made the film very interesting and educationally immersive, students enjoyed to the fullest.
After watching the film, we all proceeded to the Canteen to enjoy the delicious food. Finally boarded the bus to be back in School and again enjoyed the snacks given by the volunteers while returning to school.
Visiting Nehru Science Centre is an excellent learning opportunity for children as it provides detailed information about different fields of science in the most interactive manner. It also helped both the teachers and the students to supplement science education given in schools and fostered a spirit of scientific enquiry and creativity among the students.
• Students not only learnt topics in science but also understood the correlation of different subjects that contribute to the learning of the concepts.
• A wonderful experience and it made the occasion of Children’s Day very Special.
“Science is a Beautiful gift to humanity; we should not distort it”.

EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIP TO KESHAV SRUSHTI
14/11/2019
“Come forth into the light of things,
Let Nature be your Teacher. - William WordsworthKeeping the above theme in mind IES Orion organized an educational trip in association with Penguin Holidays to Keshav Srushti, Bhayandar. 358 Children & 21 Staff visited the place.
The 14th of November, 2019 was an unforgettable day for all the children of IES Orion. The trip was really the best way to celebrate Children’s Day by imparting knowledge through fun learning and hands on experience.
Keshav (Lord Krishna) Srushti (Mother Nature) is an ideal nature spot at Bhayandar for those looking for green natural environment within Mumbai. It has 200 acres of green land located at Uttan village on the way towards the famous Essel World.
The children enjoyed the one and half hour bus journey and had their yummy breakfast in the bus. When we reached there the team briefed us about the organisation, the significance of the place, secret of conserving nature and preserving green cover, importance of ecosystem, and the need of growing more trees for combating the adverse effects of weather changes through a PowerPoint Presentation.
The activity session started with a nature trail where we walked through a vast stretch of woods and experienced the fresh air which is usually missing in the local parts of our city that never sleeps. It also gave us an opportunity to see rare botanical plantations, fresh water ponds, mango and coconut plantations and Gaushala (Cow Home). The children enriched their knowledge about flora and fauna, herbal plants, Greenhouse, Vermi-compost, Apiculture (Bee keeping & knowing life cycle).
One of the main attractions was the Biogas plant. The generated gas at Gaushala is transported through a pipe line to canteen of Ram Ratan Vidya Mandir school, in-house kitchen and colleges. The biogas used at the canteen replaces nearly 400 commercial cylinders per year.
Later, we all had a sumptuous lunch. After this activity it was time for the most interesting and engaging activity for the day- Paper Recycling.
It was time to bid adieu to this lovely place. Truly it was an extremely delightful trip where the children as well as teachers got to spend time with nature and learn fruitful technique of recycling paper.
