19/12/2022 : Annual Sports Day
In a healthy body lives a healthy mind. Sport enables children to be more physically active and builds their stamina. At the Kindergarten, importance is not given to winning or losing, but instead we stress upon finishing the race, learning at your pace, enjoying the journey, and accomplishing each milestone. Each child is important and so is the journey of learning. It teaches children the spirit of sportsmanship, perseverance and boosts their self-esteem as each milestone is accomplished. The Annual Sports Day was held at Wings Sports Centre ground at Bandra Reclamation.
The chief guest, Ms Kavita Sawant, ahead coach of gymnastics and a keen yoga player, was welcomed and felicitated. She then declared the sports meet open. The kindergarten children won hearts with their smart walk-past. The torch bearers ignited the spirit of sport with their zest and valour as they passed the torch. The mascot released was based on how India has progressed after 75 years of freedom. The children watched with amazement how the balloons with the slogan flew high up in the sky. The Senior KG children displayed excellent coordination and team work through the pom-pom drill. We first began with the fun races which got the crowd cheering. These races are well planned and they develop in children various abilities like quick thinking, focus, physical strength, team building and agility.
Collecting Happiness- The nursey children collected happiness through balls which they picked up and put in their basket
Zig Zag fun- The Jr KG children passed the cones arranged in a zig zag Pattern and picked up the hoopla rings with which they ran to the finishing line to complete the race.
Cross every barrier- The Sr KG children were all set to win hearts and show their capability. The race had them jump across the hurdles, placed at a distance of few metres, then jump into the hoopla ring, hold it around the waist and finish the race.
The parents soon were encouraged to participate in the parent games. The sports team soon had our enthusiastic parents all set in the spirit of sports competing in the fun games.
As each child is a winner and winning is about conquering your fears and building your mental and physical strength, the school gifted each child with a gift as a token of appreciation and love.
The wonderful event ended with the national anthem. We took home with us the true spirit of sport which is team-building, joy ofaccomplishment and completion.
