INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
15/08/2021
Independence Day is significant as it commemorates the valour and spirit of the freedom fighters who fought for the Independence of our nation from British rule. Our Independence Day is of great importance to us. It is the day to remember our martyrs who gave their life for the country. Also, it is one of those days when we forget all our cultural differences and unite as one true Indian.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the culmination of our freedom struggle. The event was celebrated virtually in IES Orion. Parents, Grandparents, Students, Staff and Faculty members were filled with a feeling of patriotism.
The celebration started with an introductory speech and a patriotic quote “De salami iss Tirange ko, jis se teri shaan hain, sir hamesha uccha rakhna iska, jab tak dil main jaan hai!”. This year we also saluted Covid-19 warriors along with our freedom fighters.
It was a proud moment for us when we welcomed our chief guest for the event Miss. Kavya Kulkarni (IES Orion Topper 2020-21). The event progressed with the speech by our beloved students on the importance of Independence Day.
We then moved on to the most important part of the celebration, that is, hoisting of the National Flag and together with a feeling of oneness in our heart we recited the National Anthem, which was then followed by the Zanda Geet, melodiously sung by our students.
Our Chief Guest Miss. Kavya Kulkarni gave an encouraging speech to our students explaining how “Self-belief and hard work will always earn success.”
The speech was then followed by reading of the Preamble, explaining how India’s flag was designed, speech on significance of Tricolour, and freedom fighters from different states who fought for our country.
To keep the patriotic feeling ongoing, our students sung a patriotic song with full emotion and enthusiasm. The song was followed by a vibrant dance by our tiny tots. Students also participated in different activities. Nursery students enjoyed Palm Painting of the National Animal, Bird, Flower and Flag. Jr KG students prepared Tri-colour Flag using ice-cream sticks and Sr.KG students prepared Tri-colour paper fan. Students who participated in these activities were rewarded with participation certificates.
The celebration ended with a belief that "Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong."

The day is celebrated to inform people that nature should not be taken for granted and must be respected for its values.
Deep Pooja was on 8th August, 2021, which was a Sunday. So, on Friday, 6th August 2021, we celebrated Deep Pooja during online session.
Teachers narrated a story of the princess who never valued the importance of Diya. After the story, everyone recited the Shloka “Shubham Karoti Kalyanam” by joining their hands. Children should cultivate the habit of reciting shlokas like ‘Shubham Karoti’every evening after lighting the lamp.
Teachers explained that this day is observed every year on Amavasya in the month of Aashad. The women gather all the lamps in the house, clean them thoroughly and place them together. A rangoli is drawn around them. Then these lamps are lit and they are worshiped. An offering of various delicacies is made to these lamps and then prayer is offered by reciting Shloka. A detailed explanation was given through a PowerPoint Presentation. Teachers made students aware of different kinds of Diyas and their uses and how they are useful when there is no electricity supply.
The message ‘Save Electricity’ was given through an informative talk. Like ‘Money saved is money earned, power saved is power generated’. Turn off the lights, wasting electricity bites! Conserve the natural resources.Nursery students enjoyed colouring and decorating the Diya. Few students were happy to show their Diyas which they had at home to the teacher.
