THE SKILL TO HEAL; THE SPIRIT TO CARE
The annual cultural day is a very important day for all schools. The students get a chance to display their talents in front of a big audience. The Annual Day of our school was held on 28th November, 2021 (Sunday). Ribhu Dasgupta, an Indian film and television director, was the Chief Guest for this celebration.
(He made his directorial debut with 2011 film Michael. He was nominated at the Shanghai International Film Festival for Asian New Talent Award of Best Film for Michael.)The event began by lighting the lamp before Goddess Saraswati. The students of our school put up a great cultural show in the honour of the Chief Guest. It included songs, dances, and drama conveying moral and ethical messages. The theme of “The Skill to Heal; The Spirit to Care” was reflected through different performances. The show was much liked by all, especially the distinguished Chief Guest.
He not only appreciated the teachers and students for their constant hard work and determination, but also inspired us to strive for learning and growth in life without degrading our morals and values. With this note, another wonderful annual celebration of our school concluded with National song and many more cheerful memories.

ANNUAL CONCERT

IES Orion KG celebrated the most awaited event, the Virtual Annual Concert on Sunday, 28th November, 2021. The theme of the event was “The Skill to Heal, The Spirit to Care”. The Chief Guest Dr. Saman Fitwalla graced the function. It was an occasion that spread joy and served as a platform for students to exhibit their unique talents and build their confidence.
The program commenced with a prayer followed by the welcoming of the Chief Guest and a lamp lighting ceremony. Students showcased their acting, dancing and singing talents through the skit “Ray of hope is an art of healing”. The skit was centred around the current condition and how we can overcome all situations with a ray of hope.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks followed by the national song. Thus, the Annual concert was full of joy, knowledge, and fun for the students and audience alike.

Inter School English Recitation Competition (Std I to V)

The Inter School competition between IES Manik Vidya Mandir and IES ORION was organized held live on Microsoft Teams platform on 27th November, 2021.
The participants for Inter School Competition left no stone unturned to win for their school. The participants in this round recited poem on the topic of Modes of Students were judged on the parameters of language, voice modulation, clarity, pronunciation, expression and volume.
The Judge, Miss Misbah Mohamaedy, appreciated and applauded the performance of the participants.

OCEAN FRIENDS WEEK

Aquatic life is a beautiful life and it increases the beauty of our nature. It is an inseparable part of our nature. Thus, aquatic life has an immense importance in the world. Ocean acts as a shelter for various aquatic animals like whales, sharks, crabs, fish etc. To explore the beauty of the aquatic life, “Ocean Friends Week” was organised online for Sr. KG students from Monday, 22nd November, 2021 to Friday, 26th November, 2021. To make students aware of the most fascinating facts of aquatic animals and the importance of Oceans.
Students were given an insight into different types of aquatic animals through art, craft, presentations, games, songs and stories. Along with fun activities, teachers also explained how Ocean pollution has become one of the major problems to our aquatic animals. Due to ocean pollution most of the species are getting extinct or endangered.
Students also shared their valuable thoughts on different aquatic animals and how we can contribute towards saving aquatic life.
“Each one of us can make a difference. Together we can make a change”. Let us all protect our ocean life.

FARM BUDDIES WEEK

Farm Buddies Week was celebrated for Jr. KG students from Monday, 22nd November, 2021 to Friday, 26th November, 2021. Students were made aware about the usefulness of the farm animals, their food, care and safety. It was celebrated in various ways through stories, rhymes and songs, videos and informative talk by teachers. To enhance their learning further, art and craft activities such as pig headgear, cow stick puppet and hen finger puppet were made by the Jr. KG students. To develop students’ language skills, they were given an opportunity to speak on the topic of farm animals. Thus, Jr. KG students learned about farm animals in a holistic manner.

Fit India School Week Celebration 2021

IES Orion celebrated it’s Third Edition of Fit India School Week Celebration in the month of November from Monday, 15th November,2021 to Saturday, 20th November,2021.
Students, parents and school staff from all three sections actively participated as per the schedule given. The following activities were undertaken day wise:
1) Opening Day - INDIAN DANCES CELEBRATING AKAM WITH INTEGRATED FITNESS. Students exhibited dance performances.
2) Poster making activitywas undertaken"Freedom from Sedentary lifestyle"
3) A Session on importance of “Eat Right/ Santulit Aahar” ;Quiz was undertaken on “Eat Right/ Santulit Aahar”
4) Yoga and Meditation Day: Session on mental health awareness were conducted.
5) Fitness assessment by All Section teachers and parents on Fit India.
6) On the occasion of AKAM to culminate School Week with self-assertion for leading a new fit and healthy life ahead a pledge was undertaken by Std 1 to Std 10 students and teachers. -
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

On Monday, 15th November, 2021, Children’s Day was celebrated virtually in the kindergarten to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. As he was extremely fond of children, the programme clearly depicted the spirit of the occasion. Children’s Day programme had a series of interesting and exciting events; all planned meticulously for complete entertainment and enjoyment. Students came dressed in their favourite colour which was the dress code for the day.
Children’s Day programme began with the introductory speech. To make the day more special, a pre-recorded video was presented with a message for all the Kindergarteners from their teachers. An informative PowerPoint presentation on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was also shared with the students. The celebration included an exciting Magic show conducted by a Kindergarten Teacher. Children enjoyed participating in a puzzle game which was followed by music and dance. Students prepared and also relished eating the yummy snacks of Monaco biscuit bites which was demonstrated by teachers. The celebration ended with a concluding speech. With such a vast arena of events and fun filled activities, it proved to be a memorable day for the students.

Virtual Diwali Celebration

Diwali is the festival of lights which is celebrated in India and all over the world with great zeal and enthusiasm. To make the students understand the importance of Diwali, IES Orion (ICSE) Dadar, had a virtual celebration through skits, songs and dances in various languages such as English, Hindi and Marathi which explained the importance of Diwali: the festival that spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair.
The concept of, “Say No to Crackers” was explained by highlighting the disadvantages of crackers. Children were told to celebrate Diwali in an environment-friendly manner. Through the celebrations, children also learnt that Diwali celebrations are spread across five days, with each day having its significance and set of rituals. They were also enlightened about all the historical events that took place for which Diwali is celebrated. Children enjoyed thoroughly by making decorations through Art and SUPW activities.
The celebration ended with the Diwali song ‘Mere Tumhare Sab Ke Liye Happy Diwali’.
