Ashadhi Ekadashi is one of the most important religious festivals that is celebrated in Maharashtra. It is the eleventh lunar day of the bright fortnight means Shukla paksha of the Hindu month of Ashadha i.e. June - July. It is also called by the name Shayani Ekadashi. This ceremony is generally held at Pandharpur where a huge number of devotees gather to celebrate the festival. Pandharpur Wari is an annual pilgrimage to the town of Pandharpur, which is the seat of Hindu God Vithoba in the Indian state of Maharashtra, in honour of the deity. They sing devotional songs called Bhajans. Numerous palakhis join the main Tukaram and Dnyaneshwar palakhis along the way. The Wari culminates at the Vithoba temple on the holy occasion of Aashadhi Ekadashi.

BEFRIEND PLANTS WEEK
12/07/2021
It is rightly said that “When you plant a tree, you plant a life”. Trees are one of the greatest blessings for humans from mother earth. The most important thing we must remember is that trees do not need us, rather we need them. Apart from the countless benefits they have, trees are certainly our best friends.
IES Orion Kindergarten section celebrates ‘Befriend Plants Week’ every year to make children aware about the importance of trees in our lives. This year also we celebrated the event virtually with the same enthusiasm.
The teachers narrated stories through PowerPoint Presentations and students enjoyed singing songs and watching informative videos related to plants. For reinforcement, students did plantingactivity and various art activities which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Sr.KG students had planting activity for hands on experience. The teachers gave step by step directions and explained the stages of germination to the students. Jr.KG students enjoyed palm stencilling activity and gave it the shape of a tree. They coloured the tree and used clay to make fruits for the tree. Nursery students enjoyed fun filled activities like leaf painting, fork painting, thumb painting and clay moulding to make trees, flowers, clouds, rain and butterfly.
Our motto of ‘learning by doing’ further enhanced their understanding of ‘grow more trees and save trees’. Thus, the students were sensitised towards trees and its importance in human life. Sensorial learning brought children close to the nature.
To bring awareness of physical exercise and good nutrition in students, Fitness Day was celebrated on Friday, 16th July, 2021. Physical fitness is a state of health and well-being. Fitness is generally achieved through proper nutrition, physical exercise and eating right food at the right time.
Physical exercise and a balanced diet help in the growth and development of our body. The importance of having right food at the right time and eating in a right way helps in digestion and promotes strong muscles and bones.
The teachers gave information on healthy food and junk food through a puppet show and a PowerPoint Presentation. The importance of a healthy diet and its benefits to our body were explained to the students. The students were encouraged to do simple exercise in the online class on the beats of music. Thus, children were made to understand that staying fit and active would help to maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of diseases.
