DIWALI CELEBRATION

Diwali or Deepawali is one of India's biggest festivals. The word 'Deepawali' means rows of lighted lamps. It is a Festival of Lights and people celebrate it with joy.
Teachers and students of IES Orion Kindergarten took efforts to make the virtual Diwali celebration more festive and special. A video link was circulated which showed how we all can celebrate a happy and safe Diwali. Students spoke about the importance of the 5 days of Diwali. People wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with diyas and rangoli, worship Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity and wealth and partake in family feasts, where mithai and gifts are shared. Bond between a brother and a sister was also shown through a small video on Bhau Beej. A message on how to keep our environment pollution and sound free was shared through the video. Two beautiful dances were performed on Diwali songs by our little Orionities followed by an animated story on Diwali.

Inter House English Recitation Competition (Std I to V)

Recitation activities help students to build confidence as they learn to speak more accurately and persuasively about any piece of writing.
Keeping this in mind, IES Manik Vidya Mandir organized English Recitation Competition for our primary students which was conducted in two levels such as Inter House and Inter School Competition. The competition was held live on Msteams platform. It was conducted on the following dates - 25th October, 27th October, 2021 for Inter house Competition. Children astonished everyone with their voice modulation and amazing memorizing kills. The students came up with different poems on the given theme such as nature, water, friendship and humour. A significant message was spread through their poems.

Inter House and Inter School Music Competition

IES Manik Vidyamandir organized Online Music Competition on Microsoft Teams platform. It had two rounds.
1st round was held on 9th October 2021 – Inter House Music Mania Competition.
2nd round was held on 23rd October 2021- Inter School Music Mania Competition.There were two competitions held. One was ‘Sing Along’ and the other was ‘Instrumania’. The competition began at 10:00 am. More than 20 students took part in this competition.
Singer Ms. Komal Tendulkar joined the program as Chief Guest and Judge. Students from Std I to V sang patriotic song, songs on ‘Nature’ etc.
The children sang the songs with lot of passion, confidence and patriotic feeling. VIRTUAL ONE TO ONE PARENT-TEACHER MEETING

One to one parent teacher meeting is one of the important activity of any school. It is a great opportunity for both the teacher and parents to work for the betterment of the child. It enables parent and teacher to work for the positive modification of the student’s performance. Hence, a virtual one to one parent-teacher meeting was conducted for Kindergarten Section on Microsoft Teams Platform.
Nursery Class virtual one to one parent teacher meeting was conducted for two days on Saturday, 16th October, 2021 and Sunday, 17th October, 2021. Jr. KG and Sr. KG virtual one to one parent teacher meeting was conducted for two days on Saturday, 23rd October, 2021 and Sunday, 24th October, 2021.
It was conducted to discuss the online observation of growth and development of students. Parents were informed about their child’s overall progress. Important guidelines were shared by the teachers for the holistic development of the students.
Parents were very encouraging and supportive, and were extremely appreciative of the efforts taken by the school. They acknowledged the sincere efforts taken by the teachers in providing continuous guidance for the students, even during these difficult times.

NAVRATRI CELEBRATION

Navratri is one of the important festivals celebrated to worship Goddess Durga. This festival is celebrated all over the country with joy and fervour. ‘Nav’ means nine and ‘Ratri’ means night. The festival is celebrated over a period of nine nights and 10 days. For many people it is a time of religious reflection wherein people are seen fasting, whereas for others it is a time for dancing and feasting.
IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Navratri in a virtual session with great enthusiasm and fun on Thursday, 14th October, 2021. Why this festival is celebrated was explained to students through a celebration video link which also included dialogues and dances by students. The celebration link was shown to the students during the online session to help the learners to know more about this festival.
After the celebration video link, songs were played where students of IES ORION celebrated this festival in a very joyful manner and enjoyed every moment by performing dance in Garba and Dandiya style. Girls were dressed in colourful ghagra cholis and boys were dressed in beautiful kurta pyjamas. Along with students their family members also accompanied them in the dance session.
The essence of the festivity was truly felt and celebrated by all in the true spirit of oneness.It was a memorable virtual event which will always be remembered by everyone.

VIRTUAL NAVRATRI CELEBRATION 2021-22

A spoonful of fun and admiration in a cupful of contentment - is what defines this festival of Goddess Durga the best!
IES ORION celebrated a virtual Navratri celebration virtually on Microsoft Teams on 7th of October 2021 to commemorate and invoke the blessings of Goddess Durga. The occasion enlightened the little minds with the significance of the festival that it epitomizes the victory of good over evil.
The virtual celebration highlighted on how people in different parts of India have different beliefs behind the celebration of this auspicious occasion. The theme ‘Incredible India’ focussed on giving an insight into our culture and traditional beliefs as for many people it is a time of religious reflection wherein people are seen fasting, however, for others it is a time for dancing and feasting.
The event ended by making students aware that in this mirthful season of celebrations let us not forget that COVID-19 spreads primarily from person to person and fighting this disease is our joint responsibility. Hence, information was provided on how to protect yourself and others by following simple precautions.
The essence of the festivity was truly felt and celebrated virtually in the true spirit of oneness. It was a memorable virtual event for Orionites which willalways be remembered. Let us pray that Goddess Durga makes our world corona free and blesses all of us with lots of happiness in the days to come.

GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION

Grandparents are the essential members of our families. They inculcate moral values and good habits in their grandchildren. They are a link between the past and the future. They are a treasure trove of affection and wisdom in our lives. But we often forget to thank them or spend more quality time with them despite all that they have done for us. That’s the reason we at IES Orion, dedicate a special day to honour them by remembering the contributions they have done in our life.
IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Grandparents Day virtually on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021. Nursery, Jr. KG and Sr. KG students prepared colourful greeting cards for their beloved grandparents a few days prior to the celebration.
The school had organized a contest specially for the grandparents. Google form links for Fashion show (Shrimaan and Shrimati) and Solo/Duet Dance Contest were emailed in advance to the parents. Grandparents participated wholeheartedly and showcased their talent by dressing up traditionally for the contest. Their energetic performances were mesmerizing.
Grandparents along with their grandchildren participated enthusiastically in the celebration in large numbers. They were excited to play games conducted online by the teachers. Games like ‘Guess the song through the given emoji’s and Antakshari’ was thoroughly enjoyed by them and each one waited eagerly for their turn. Our little twinkling stars of Orion presented a dance through a pre-recorded video for the grandparents. They were enlivened by the medley of old songs sung live by our music teacher.
A photo collage and glimpses of the Fashion Show and Solo/Duet Dance Contest were also shown during the celebration. Grandparents were super excited to watch the contest video. The winners of the fashion show and the dance contest were also declared on the same day.
It was truly a fun-filled day of entertainment and enjoyment for the grandparents. Their smiles and happiness were a take away for the school and each grandparent took back sweet memories of this celebration.

GANDHI JAYANTI & LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI JAYANTI

Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti are celebrated in India every year on 2nd October to mark the birth anniversary of these two great leaders who spend their entire life in the freedom struggle to free India and for the nation’s progress. On this day we commemorate and observe their ideologies on Satya and Ahimsa. People celebrate this day with pride.
Keeping this excitement in mind, IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti on the common platform of Microsoft Teams on Friday, 1st October, 2021. The students were given a brief introduction about these two great national leaders by their respective class teachers. An informative PowerPoint Presentationon Mahatma Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastriji was also sharedwith the students.
The event concluded by emphasizing on the values and lessons learnt from these two great leaders’ life. It was an inspiration for students to be like them in some way. Their teachings will keep inspiring the coming generations forever.

IES ORION celebrated a Virtual Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti on 1st October 2021 to honour the legendary leaders and commemorate their birth anniversary.
The Virtual celebration highlighted the principles, struggle, determination and contributions of the two leaders in making the country progressive and working towards achieving the welfare of the people.
A recorded video presentation was shown to the students in which the students spoke about the honours given to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversay and the contributions made by Lal Bahadur Shastri as the Prime Minister of India.
The video showcased the freedom struggle of Gandhiji with several mass movements started by him along with the songs, bhajans and the inspirational speech given by the two eminent leaders.
Mahatma Gandhi, popularly known as the Father of the Nation, devoted his life in India’s freedom struggle by following the methods of Ahimsa, Satyagraha, Truth and Unity. The UN has honoured Gandhiji by declaring 2nd October as the International Day of Non-Violence.
Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India, was inspired by Gandhiji’s political ideals. He gave the famous slogan Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan to boost the morale of the soldiers and the farmers. The principles he lived by, were Honesty, Integrity and Work is Worship.
The Virtual celebration of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri ended with a strong message of making our country free from corruption, poverty, pollution and Covid.
Let us salute the Great leaders of our country and follow their footsteps.
