PARENT-TEACHER INTERACTION

The first term Parent-Teacher Interaction was conducted for IES ORION Kindergarten on Saturday, 31st August 2024. The main objective of the meeting was to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to discuss student’s performance and devise ways to enrich their learning experience. The meeting was held in the respective classrooms. The teachers briefed the parents about their child’s performance during first term. Together they identified the areas of strength and weakness of the child and sorted out ways to boost the child’s performance. Parents were encouraged to appreciate student’s participation in all academic activities. This helped to create the necessary consciousness among parents to stimulate their interest in the students and the school. The meeting helped to create better understanding between parents and teachers and build harmonious relationship between the school and parents.

MONSOON HUNGAMA WEEK

To make our little Orionites experience the magic and joy of rain in school, a special Week ‘Monsoon Hungama Week’ was organized from Monday, 26th August 2024 to Friday, 30th August 2024. Various activities were organized throughout the week. Students were shown songs, rhymes, educational videos, and stories related to rain. Few students prepared projects on ‘Rain Cycle’ and ‘Rain Water Harvesting’. They spoke about the project in detail. To make it a fun-filled week ‘Walk in the Rain’ was also organized by the school for students. This was the highlight of the week. Students had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed walking in the rain wearing their raincoats along with their peers. Thus, students had an enriching and fun-filled experience throughout the week.

JANMASHTAMI

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated in IES Orion Kindergarten on Monday, 26th August 2024 with mirth and joy. Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna, one of the most powerful and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksh or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapad. Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great pomp and festivity by the tiny tots of the Kindergarten section. Students dressed as Radha – Krishna, gave a traditional touch to the entire celebration. Teachers narrated a story of Lord Krishna's birth through PPT and videos and explained the reason behind celebrating this festival. The premise was decorated beautifully which enhanced the spirit of festivity. Cute little Radha’s and Krishna’s danced around the Dahi Handi, to the beats of Janmashtami songs, filling the air with joy and festive spirit. Students enjoyed participating in the Mock Dahi Handi by making a human pyramid with the help of their teachers. Students enjoyed participating in creative activities on the occasion of Janmashtami. Nursery students enjoyed colouring and decorating Lord Krishna’s Matki (pot). Jr.KG students were delighted to make Lord Krishna’s beautiful headgear. Sr.KG students enthusiastically participated in craft work and made colourful flutes.

IES Orion's Power 60 batch was created to promote entrepreneurship among students, focusing on developing their skillful, critical thinking, and analytical process to prepare them to compete in today's fast-paced world. The students' work will be showcased in an abroad setting, allowing them to represent their working setup and gain international exposure.

The Inter House Elocution Competition for classes VI to VIII & Debate Competition for classes IX and X.
The Hindi Department of IES Orion School, under the guidance of Honourable Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu, has organized two exciting competitions for the students. The Inter House Elocution Competition for classes VI to VIII was held on 1st August 2024 in the examination hall, while the Debate Competition for classes IX and X took place on 22nd August 2024.

PARENT’S CARROM COMPETITION

The Parents Carrom Competition, held on August 17, 2024, was a lively and engaging event at IES Orion school motivated by our Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. The competition saw an enthusiastic participation by men and women who displayed impressive skills and sportsmanship. The event featured series of rounds, with parents competing in a friendly yet competitive spirit. The principal and teachers were present to support the players and encourage family involvement in school activities. The winners were presented with trophies and medals. The event not only highlighted the parents' talents but also strengthened the bond between the school and families. Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable day that brought the school community closer together.

NARALI PURNIMA & RAKSHA BANDHAN

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Raksha Bandhan and Narali Purnima festival with great zeal and enthusiasm on Friday, 16th August, 2024. The main objective behind celebrating ‘Raksha Bandhan’ was making the children aware about the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions. Same day we celebrated Narali Purnima. Naral means coconut and Purnima means full moon day. On the full moon day, in the month of Shravan, coconut is offered to the Sea God. The fishermen offer prayers and worship the Sea God for a smooth journey in the water. Narali Purnima, Shravani Purnima, Rakhi Purnima or Raksha Bandhan are the various names given to this festival. A PowerPoint Presentation was shown to all the students. Information related to Raksha Bandhan and Narali Purnima was explained to make the students aware of the significance and its rituals.
Rakhi making activity was also conducted by all the classes. Students were excited to prepare Rakhi’s using different materials to make it look attractive. The colourful Rakhi’s made by the students’ added flavour to the celebration. The tiny tots, in traditional attires enthusiastically participated in tying Rakhi on the wrist. Coconut barfi was distributed to all on account of Narali Purnima celebration. They enjoyed dancing to the tune of Koli songs and Raksha Bandhan songs.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism at IES Orion school. The Chief Guest and Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu were led to the hall along with the march past by the Primary and Secondary Council Members. Our school ICSE topper Miss. Mrunmayee Kulkarni was invited as the chief guest, who was honoured to hoist the National flag. Our young singers and teachers sang patriotic songs, highlighting the country’s rich history and heritage. The event also featured a special tribute to freedom fighters to honour their sacrifices through inspiring speeches by the students in Hindi and Marathi. The day was a proud reflection of national spirit and unity.

Independence Day Celebration

On July 6th, 2024, the school celebrated its 6th batch Honors' Day to recognize and felicitate its top-performing students in traditional attire.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Anirudha Pandit, the Honourable Vice Chancellor of ICT Matunga, who congratulated the students on their outstanding academic achievements.
The ceremony aimed to inspire and motivate the students to strive for excellence in their academic and personal endeavours.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated the national festival – Independence Day on Wednesday, 14th August 2024 with great pomp. Kindergarteners made tri-colour buntings to decorate the school. Project was displayed and students were explained why and how do we celebrate this festival which promotes patriotism and nationalism. Students were also told about the struggle and magnificent achievements of our great freedom fighters and in present condition respecting our brave soldiers who protect our country. Students participated in the march-past, sang patriotic songs and were also given a chance to speak a few sentences on Independence Day. Kindergartners geared up to celebrate this event with grandeur.

WORLD ELEPHANT DAY

Every Year, World Elephant Day is observed on August 12 to raise awareness about the challenges in elephant conservation and their protection worldwide. World Elephant Day turns the planet’s gaze toward the plight of elephants. These majestic beings, carrying the weight of historical richness on their sturdy backs, sit at the heart of their ecosystems. Elephants are considered one of the friendliest animals on the Earth and play an important role in balancing the ecosystem.
Students of IES Orion Kindergarten were given information about World Elephant Day by their teachers through a PowerPoint Presentation on Monday, 12th August 2024. The goal of World Elephant Day is to make people aware of the steps that should be taken to prevent extinction of elephants. Today, on World Elephant Day, let’s join forces with passion and purpose to make a powerful difference in the protection and preservation of these magnificent creatures.

NAG PANCHAMI

Nag Panchami is a traditional Hindu festival celebrated to worship the snake (serpent) deity. Nag Panchami was celebrated in IES Orion Kindergarten on Friday, 9th August 2024.
The Project corner was decorated with images of snakes and traditional Indian Motifs. Teacher narrated the mythological significance of Nag Panchami as well as the importance of respecting and protecting nature. Students participated in craft activity and clay moulding activity where they made snake shaped crafts using clay, paper and other materials.
Nursery class students made clay snakes. Jr.KG students enjoyed bubble wrap painting and made paper plate snakes. Sr. KG students made ice-cream sticks snakes. The craft activities helped in enhancing the student’s creativity and fine motor skills. The celebration provided students with an understanding of Nag Panchami and its significance in Indian culture.
The Nag Panchami celebration at IES Orion Kindergarten was a delightful and educational experience for the students.

NURSERY PARENT-CHILD BAZAAR

It is a time when students, and parents come together to showcase their talents, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills. A bazaar in school is an event that brings both excitement and hands on experience. It is a day filled with fun, games, knowledge, general awareness and our favourite food.
IES Orion Kindergarten Nursery Parent-Child Bazaar event was held on Saturday, 3rd August 2024. Nursery students along with their parents put up stalls based on several colours namely red, blue, yellow, green, black and white. They dressed up as vegetable vendors, fruit vendors, sellers as per the commodity they sold. It gave them their first real-world experiences with business operations, marketing, cash exchanges, and sales. Nursery non-participants, Jr.KG / Sr.KG students, Primary and Secondary students/parents, teaching and non-teaching staff were buyers.
Nursery students enjoyed collecting money in the cash box which enhanced their mathematical skills. The Motto of organizing this event for students to learn, to develop their overall skills was achieved, leading to a great success of the Bazaar and a wide smile with glee on our Tiny Tots face.

DEEP POOJA

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Deep Pooja on Friday, 2nd August 2024 to bring awareness amongst the students about the importance of light in our life. Deep Puja is an integral part of the celebrations wherein several bright lights are lit to welcome the auspicious month of Shravan. Teachers explained about this auspicious day through informative talk. They informed the students that every year on Amavasya in the month of Aashad, the women gather all the lamps and lit the Diya’s and draw rangoli around them, prayer is offered by reciting shloka. The importance of saving electricity was also explained to the students. Beautiful project on Deep Pooja was displayed. Teachers explained the project in detail to the students. Students brought decorative Diya’s which were lit in the class and they recited shlokas like “Shubham Karoti Kalyanam”.

FRIENDSHIP DAY

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Friendship Day on Friday, 2nd August 2024. Friendship is a close and trusting relationship between two or more people who care for and support each other. It’s built on mutual respect, shared experiences, and a genuine concern for each other’s well-being. Friends offer companionship, encouragement, and a sense of belonging, making life’s challenges easier to face and joys more meaningful.
Nursery, Jr.KG and Sr.KG class teachers narrated story of Lord Krishna and Sudama’s friendship. They sang songs on friendship and friends. Students learned the value of “sharing and caring” and understood the importance of friends in their lives. They expressed their joy of friendship by dancing, giggling and hugging each other.

LOKMANYA TILAK PUNYATITHI

Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s 104th Punyatithi (death anniversary) was observed on Thursday, 1st August 2024. An iconic leader and one of the strongest proponents of ‘Purna Swaraj’ or total self-rule, Bal Gangadhar Tilak died on the 1st of August in 1920, in Mumbai. Tilak faced the British atrocities with courage and set an example before the people of the nation. As a freedom fighter, journalist and as a man who fought against mindless westernization of Indian society his contributions are unparalleled.
On Thursday, 1st August 2024, IES Orion Kindergarten teachers shared informative talk through PowerPoint Presentation in which the illustrious journey of Lokmanya Tilak was traced. The stories of Lokmanya Tilak were also shown to students to inculcate the values and ideals in them. Students of Sr. KG also shared their thoughts about the great freedom fighter through speech and slogans. His struggle for Independence created an atmosphere of Patriotism among our little Orionites.
