STD IV FIELD TRIP TO KARNALA BIRD SANCTUARY

Under the guidance of the Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prahu and coordination with Patel Tours and Travels, IES Orion organized an enriching field trip for Std IV students to the Karnala Bird Sanctuary on 31st January 2025, offering them a perfect blend of nature, education, and fun. The day started with students assembling at school at 7:45 AM, followed by departure. A packed breakfast was served on the bus as they journeyed towards their first stop, the Yusuf Meherally Centre. Here, students gained valuable insights into rural development and village industries like pottery, carpentry, oil extraction, and vermi composting. They also learned about the biogas procedure and the values of Mahatma Gandhi and his contributions to our nation.After a delightful homemade lunch, which students thoroughly enjoyed, the group proceeded to the Karnala Bird Sanctuary. A short trek through the sanctuary allowed students to connect with nature and explore the beauty of the surroundings. The day concluded with the journey back to school, where students returned home, taking with them sweet memories of an educational and enjoyable field trip.

REPUBLIC DAY

76th Republic Day at IES Orion was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor. The flag was hoisted by Head Madam, Smt. Smita Sulakhe, followed by the National Anthem, setting a patriotic tone for the day. As the government had declared a full working day for the students, IES Orion embraced the opportunity by transforming it into an engaging Activity Day. A series of vibrant activities were organized, including poem recitations, song performances, and elocution competitions, allowing students to showcase their talents. Additionally, students were given the chance to watch the live parade in Delhi, experiencing the grandeur and spirit of the Republic Day celebrations and visit the ‘Art and Craft’ exhibition. The day was also observed as "No Books Day," offering a break from regular academics and fostering a spirit of creativity and national pride among the students

Celebration of Republic Day

Republic Day was celebrated on Sunday, 26th January 2025 with zest and a spirit of patriotism, incorporating flag hoisting, Prabhat Pheri, Competitions, Live telecast in the classrooms of the Republic Day Parade, Drawing and Painting Exhibition and more. A creative outlet where participants could express their patriotism through their varied talent.

ANNUAL CONCERT

The Annual Concert is the most awaited event where students get a chance to display their talents in front of a big audience. IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated its Annual Concert 2024-25 on Saturday, 25th January 2025 for Sr.KG classes & Sunday, 26th January 2025 for Jr. KG and Nursery classes in B. N. Vaidya Auditorium. The theme for this year's Annual Concert was “MYTHOLOGY AND INDIA”. The Chief Guest Shri. Braj Mohan Prabhuji for Nursery, Smt. Mahita Gone for Jr.KG and Smt. Manasi Kulkarni for Sr.KG graced the function. All the parents were invited for this special day. The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest with the lamp lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana. The function began with a soulful prayer followed by an energetic welcome dance performance. On both the days the students from Kindergarten entertained everyone with their beautiful dance performances. Nursery students – our young performers truly honoured the spirit of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Lord Vitthal, Lord Balaji and the Dashavatar with their enthusiasm, energy and devotion in bringing the avatars to life. Jr.KG students performed a drama on “Mera Bharat Mahan” and celebrated the beauty, diversity and resilience of our beloved nation, India through the characters of the Gokuldham Society. Sr.KG students performed a drama “The Legendary Ramayana” and they also performed the energetic “Tarpa Dance” which showcased the celebration of culture, tradition and the vibrant spirit of the community. The parents kept cheering for their children who were performing on the stage. As the function came to an end, there was a signature performance of Grand Finale by all the participants along with their teacher's and non-teaching staff which was simply a show stopper. The event concluded with the vote of thanks followed by the national song. Overall it was a fulfilling program, which moved the heart of everyone present in the auditorium.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Republic Day on Friday, 24th January 2025. Our little Patriots coloured ‘National Flag’ and made ‘Flag Badges’. They shared information on ‘Republic Day’ and Freedom Fighters of India. The project was displayed and information about the ‘Indian Constitution’ was delivered by teachers. Students marched like soldiers in the stilt area and saluted our ‘National Flag’ and ‘Freedom Fighters’ and promised that they will keep their beloved country ‘India’ ‘Clean and Green’.

PRIMARY STD I – V ANNUAL CONCERT

IES Orion celebrated its Annual Day from 24th and 26th January 2025 for Std 1 to Std 5. The theme of this year’s annual concert was "India and Mythology". The programmes were conducted in B. N. Vaidya Auditorium. Many eminent invited dignitaries lke Dr. Kavita Rege, (Ex Principal of Sathaye College) Shri Jigar Gudka, (CA and Faculty of Art of Living Foundation) Smt. Isha Sane (Special Educator and Music Therapist) Shri Nilesh Moharir, (Music Composer) and Smt. Smita Lele (ex Principal of V.P.M.S) were present at the annual day celebration, All the parents and grandparents were invited class wise to these events. The event featured a variety of performances, including dramatic portrayals, soulful singing, and mesmerizing dances, all inspired by the rich stories and teachings from our epics. The annual concert was concluded by a grand finale and vote of thanks.
Kudos to our little Orionites for putting up such a mesmerizing performance! Thanks to the meticulous planning and leadership of Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu, the event was a huge success, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved.

Annual Concert 2025 – A Glimpse into Indian Mythology!

The Annual Concert held on 24th January 2025 was a spectacular celebration of Indian mythology! The theme of this year’s concert revolved around the power and essence of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, and our Orionites truly brought these epic tales to life.
The event featured a variety of performances, including dramatic portrayals, soulful singing, and mesmerizing dances, all inspired by the rich stories and teachings from these two timeless epics. Each performance was thoughtfully crafted, capturing the power, wisdom, and moral lessons embedded in the Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Our chief guest for the day was Mr. Ganesh Achwal, a radio jockey who has made tremendous contributions to the world of media, theatre and music. He has completed his masters in communication and journalism and is a multi-skilled personality with specialization in many fields. He was awarded the Gold Medal by Mumbai University for securing the first position in the subject of Legal Theory in LLB.

Farewell Celebration for Std X – A Memorable Goodbye

The Farewell Celebration for Std X students was held on 18th January 2025, marking a special and emotional moment in their journey at IES Orion. This event was a beautiful way to bid farewell to our students as they move on to the next chapter of their academic and personal growth.
The farewell was filled with heartfelt speeches, fun-filled moments, and memorable performances that celebrated the achievements, friendships, and experiences our students have had over the years. It was a day full of emotions, laughter, and nostalgia as they bid adieu to their school life.

MAKAR SANKRANTI

Makar Sankranti is celebrated in many parts of the Indian subcontinent with some regional variations. At Orion, it was celebrated in a unique manner. A huge colourful paper kite was made to fly in the sky with the help of balloons spreading the message “Education is a foundation for a better future”. It was truly a feast for the eyes to watch beautiful kite flying with colourful balloons.
Kite making activity was conducted on Friday, 10th January 2025 as a part of ‘Science Activity’. Students made paper kites of different colours and played on the ground with great joy. They promised not to hurt birds while flying kites.
Concept related to air, heavy and light was explained to the students. Sesame (Til) Laddoos were distributed as a source of energy during winter season. Students were made aware that this festival is dedicated to the ‘Sun God’ and also marks the beginning of a six-month auspicious period known as ‘Uttarayana’.

THANKS GIVING WEEK

Without ‘Community Service’, we would not have a strong quality of life….
‘Thanks Giving Week’ was celebrated in Orion to inculcate the value of ‘Dignity of Labour’. A project was set up and this was supported by a PowerPoint Presentation. Students dressed up as ‘Community Helpers’ and enjoyed enacting the characters. They shared information with different material on the topic ‘Community Helpers’ to facilitate learning. Resources persons (Security Guard, Florist and Tailor) were invited to the school to guide the students and to help our little ones to get hands on experience.

Celebration of Reading Day

On 3rd January 2025 the Reading Day was celebrated wherein students were engaged in thoughtful reading of the Constitution of India, deepening their understanding of the nation's democratic values, rights, and duties, and fostering a sense of responsibility towards upholding its principles.

As per the circular from the educational department the school had to familiarize the preamble of the Indian Constitution among the students,
IES Orion conducted the reading of the preamble in the classes as well as encouraged individual reading among the students.
