Annual Sports Day 2024 - A Display of Talent and Teamwork

Annual Sports Day for the Secondary Section took place on 24^th December 2024 and was a grand success!

Our Orionites showcased their exceptional physical fitness, determination, and team spirit as they competed in various events representing their respective houses.

The day was filled with exciting athletic events, and it was inspiring to see students putting in their best efforts, displaying teamwork, and demonstrating their talents. Each house displayed enthusiasm and sportsmanship, making it a memorable and lively event.

Jr.KG & Sr.KG KIDS DAY OUT TO JUMBLE TUMBLE

The most awaited day of the year was the Kids Day Out to Jumble Tumble, Lower Parel on Monday, 23^rd December 2024 for Jr. KG & Tuesday, 24^th December 2024 for Sr. KG. Children eagerly wait for the Kids Day Out as they love to spend a good time with their classmates. The Kids Day Out was arranged for Jr.KG and Sr.KG students. Students were extremely excited to reach the destination. Tour in charge had organized snacks on the bus, lunch at the venue and evening snacks. After reaching the venue children went to the various play zones. They enjoyed playing on the trampoline, the ball pool, the block pool, slides and many other activities. There was a surprise for kids when Santa Claus gave an appearance and distributed sweets and danced with them. After a tiring and fun packed morning, we all headed for lunch. The dining hall, filled with the fragrance of food triggered our hunger and we all relished multi-cuisine food. After lunch, children sat in a circle and enjoyed playing different games. It was an enjoyable experience on the whole.

Annual Sports Day

Annual Sports Day for the Primary Section was conducted on 23^rd December 2024 at Police ground, Ghatkopar. The chief guest Mr. Manoj Manohar More, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mumbai Police graced the occasion with his presence. Program started with fabulous march past by the students of std III to V. Mascot with the theme ‘My India, My Pride’ was released with the gas balloons by the Chief Guest and Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu.

The students showcased exceptional physical fitness through Mass Drill, Martial Art & Gymnastics displays. Students competed in various events representing their respective houses with determination, and team spirit. Prizes were awarded to winners in each event, and the house with the highest points received the trophy for the best house trophy. Each house displayed enthusiasm and sportsmanship, making it a memorable and a lively event.

Field trip to Saguna Baug for Std VI & Std VII

Students of Std VI & Std VII visited to Saguna Baug, Malegaon Village, Neral East, Raigad District, Maharashtra – 410101 on 21^st December, 2024. During the trip, students had the opportunity to explore and gain insights into Honey Bee Farming and Fish Farming. The visit promised to be an engaging and educational experience, combining fun and learning while being surrounded by nature and animals.

NURSERY KIDS DAY OUT TO FUNKY MONKEY

The most awaited day of the year was the Kids Day Out to Funky Monkey. The IES Orion Kindergarten, Nursery students were taken for a fun filled joyous Kids Day Out to Funky Monkey on Friday, 20^th December 2024. We started at 8:30 in the morning; students were extremely excited for the Kids Day Out. A delicious breakfast was followed by a tour in the bus. All set to rock and roll, we were on our way to Funky Monkey. Once there, students put off their shoes and bags and they were ready for some action. The play area was child friendly with swings, slides, merry-go-round, see saw, ball pool in the multi coloured. They enjoyed jumping, sliding, rocking and rolling. This enhanced and boosted the children’s confidence and physical movements in a play way manner. The children bonded well with each other and learnt to care, wait for their turn, and share with their friends. There was a surprise for kids when Santa Claus gave an appearance and distributed sweets and danced with them. The group photograph time motivated students to make funny faces for the click! Indeed, it was a great day for all the students and teachers, as it strengthened the bond between the students and their teachers. It was a sound and safe return trip by 2.00pm. “Cheers”. They came back to school with happy memories!!!

FIELD TRIP TO VEERMATA JIJABAI BHOSALE UDYAN

IES Orion Kindergarten students are often exposed to a variety of activities and field trips to enhance their hands-on learning experience. Jr. KG students were taken on a field trip to Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan which is also popularly known as Byculla zoo, as a part of Animal Safari Week celebration. At the zoo, all excited students witnessed wild animals such as Tiger, Hyena, Cheetah, Deer, Elephant, Nilgai, Hippopotamus, Monkeys etc. kept in separate enclosures and teachers gave detailed information about each animal. There was an aviary for aquatic birds where students could walk through this separate enclosed section on a wooden bridge, where all the beautiful birds were housed. The Rani Baug Penguin enclosure and the Crocodile Trail was an attractive addition to the zoo. Here, students saw Seven Humboldt Penguins which were kept in the dedicated cooled chambers that mimicked their natural habitat. Students got a chance to closely observe each and every animal in the zoo. Our little Orionites were engrossed in observing their natural habitat and characteristics. Students had a fun-filled day and enjoyed the field trip to Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan.

ANIMAL SAFARI WEEK

Animal Safari Week was celebrated for IES Orion Kindergarten students from Monday, 16^th December 2024 to Friday, 20^th December 2024. Animal Safari is an adventure tour that allows one to explore the wild animals. Wild animals play an important role in balancing the environment. Our Kindergarteners learnt about wild animals through rhymes, stories, educational videos, interactive sessions and informative PowerPoint Presentations. Various creative activities were also conducted for our little Orionites. Cruelty towards animals, love and care for animals was also explained by the respective class teachers of Nursery, Jr. KG and Sr. KG. On Thursday, 19^th December 2024 our Kindergarten students were given an opportunity to share their knowledge on wild animals. They spoke confidently on various topics related to the wild life.

Sensational Singing Performance on Guru Gaurav Din

14^th December 2024, our talented teachers from OM, along with the Music Teachers Mayuresh Sir and Jitendra Sir, gave a sensational singing performance on the occasion of the prestigious Guru Gaurav Din.

Their soulful performance was a true celebration of the spirit of the day, honouring the dedication and contributions of our beloved teachers. It was a memorable and inspiring moment, showcasing their exceptional musical talent and adding to the significance of the event.

Ms. Meena Devrukhkar has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the Gold Medal on Guru Gaurav Din, 14^th December 2024. This well-deserved recognition is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and excellence in her field of teaching.

DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR PUNYATITHI

Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was a great personality. He was a politician, an economist, a social reformer, a thinker, an educationist and a freedom fighter. He is popularly known as the "Father of the Indian Constitution". He received "Bharat Ratna" award in 1990 for his contribution in making the constitution and serving the Indian society. This year 2024, was observed as 69^th Mahaparinirvan Divas (Punyatithi) of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar all over India. IES Orion Kindergarten also paid homage to the great social reformer Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Thursday, 5^th December 2024. Teachers shared an informative PowerPoint Presentation about his great work for the upliftment of the society. Our little Orionites also shared a few sentences on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on this day. Babasaheb always talked and dreamt of such an Indian society in which all people will be considered equal.

WATER PLAY

Water Play activity was conducted for IES Orion Kindergarten students from Monday, 2^nd December 2024 to Thursday, 5^th December 2024. Jr. KG and Sr. KG Golden Sun students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Monday, 2^nd December 2024. Jr. KG and Sr. KG Silver Moon students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Tuesday, 3^rd December 2024. Jr. KG and Sr. KG Bright Star students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Wednesday, 4^th December 2024. And Nursery Golden Sun and Silver Moon students enjoyed the Water Play activity on Thursday, 5^th December 2024. Water Play is an inevitable part of pre-school curriculum as it helps in gross motor development, eye hand co-ordination and also helps in vocabulary development. Little angels of Orion attired in colourful swimming costumes and goggles, enjoyed their pool activity. Bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm, the students had great fun while jumping in the water, splashing water at their friends and playing with floating toys. Some of them even tried to swim in their own sweet way. It also taught them the basic safety measures they need to follow in the pool. It was a fun-n-frolic activity and the little ones enjoyed it to the fullest.
