PUPPET SHOW

Children love to play with toys and puppets. Their joy of watching puppets dancing and performing before them is enigmatic. The students of kindergarten experienced the same joy while watching the Puppet show which was organised on Friday, 28^th June 2024. All the three sections had a different theme which was as follows:

Nursery : “Welcome to School”,
Jr. KG : “My Family”,
Sr. KG : “My School”

Fascinating puppets made the kids dance, sing and jump in excitement during all the three shows. The puppet shows not only entertained the little hearts but also taught them good values about care and affection towards family members, obeying the school rules, giving respect to teachers and classmates, being punctual, honest and many more values. Students were wonderstruck to see the intricate skill of coordination and balancing of the puppetry artists. The whole show was undoubtedly a visual treat for all the learners.

INTER HOUSE ENGLISH RECITATION COMPETITION

The beauty of everything around us comes through phrases and words. Keeping this in mind, under the direction of Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu, IES Orion organized an Interhouse English Recitation Competition for Std I & II on 24^th June, 2024 and for Std III to V on 26^th June, 2024. This is was good platform for our students to showcase their talent and development. Children astonished everyone with their voice modulation and amazing memorizing skills. Children recited poems on different themes like Mother Earth, Rain, Friendship, etc.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

IES Orion celebrated the 10^th International Yoga Day under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. The theme for this year was ‘Yoga for Women Empowerment’. The 2024 Yoga Day celebration at the school was a refreshing and engaging event. Held in the school’s stilt area, the day began with a mass yoga session conducted on Friday, 21^st June 2024 by the PE teachers for Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary sections. General instructions were given by the Yoga teachers regarding the importance and benefits of yoga before the session. Inter-house yoga competitions were conducted during which students showcased their yoga skills by performing different Asanas. This event aimed to motivate students to include yoga as a part of their daily routine.

International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21^st to recognize the benefits of yoga and encourage its practice worldwide. The day aims to promote yoga's potential to improve health and balance lifestyles, and to foster a more mindful and harmonious global community.

International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 every year. This day celebrates the ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice of yoga. IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated International Yoga Day on Friday, 21^st June 2024 with great enthusiasm. A special session of yoga was conducted by our PE team for the students of Kindergarten. The PE team demonstrated some simple and beginners - standing and sitting asanas which were performed by the little Orionites. The benefits of the postures were narrated by the teachers’ side by side as students performed. All the students participated eagerly by following the instructions.

The celebration concluded with some breathing techniques and they were encouraged to practice regular yoga to remain fit as they showcased a very energetic performance. Overall International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

WORLD PRODUCTIVITY DAY

On Thursday, 20^th June 2024, IES ORION Kindergarten celebrated World Productivity Day by engaging in various activities that promote productivity, teamwork, and creativity. Teachers explained valuable skills such as time utilization, communication, and problem-solving. Jr. KG students celebrated this day by engaging themselves in solving various puzzles games like buttoning, lacing, zipping and stacking the rings. Sr. KG students performed various activities like sequencing the story, fishing with the magnetic rod, arranging the alphabets and numbers in order, threading the pictures etc. These activities aimed to instill good habits, a strong learning ethic, and a positive attitude towards learning. It also to helped the students to be productive, responsible, and successful individuals.

WALK AROUND THE SCHOOL

“A walk around the school” was organised for the kindergarten students on Tuesday, 18^th June 2024. Students along with their teachers got an opportunity to move around the school. They explored different school areas such as Principal Madam’s Cabin, the Admin Office, Head Madam’s Cabin, Co-ordinator Madam’s Cabin, stilt area, school playground, canteen, library, sick bay, staff room, visitor’s lounge and various activity rooms like ball pool room, puppet room, games room, music room, speech and drama room, art room and computer lab. Students were able to interact with the school staff. The main objective behind this event was to make students familiar with the school environment.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

The main purpose of the celebration was to create awareness about the need to protect the environment and the ways to do it. Nursery students did an activity of sponge dabbing on the water droplet. Jr.KG students coloured the earth cut-out and prepared a headgear. Sr.KG students made a card with a message ‘SAVE EARTH’.

More emphasis was given on‘SAVING WATER’ and ‘GOING GREEN’ for ‘BETTER ENVIRONMENT AND BETTER TOMORROW’.

INTER HOUSE HINDI RECITATION COMPETITION

Hindi Recitation Competition was organized for the students of Std I and II on Monday, 12^th August, 2024 and for the students of Std II, IV and V on Wednesday, 14^th August, 2024 in the premises of our school IES Orion. This program was conducted under the direction of Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. This programme provided our students an opportunity to showcase their talent and amazing memorizing skills. Children recited poems on different topics like Colours, Moon, Rain Friendship and Humour. The preparation and enthusiasm of the students was commendable.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

05/06/2024

School reopened on Wednesday, 5^th June 2024. School was held only for an hour for Kindergarten students on the first day. The day started with Morning Prayer, Pledge, National Anthem and School Anthem. All the teachers welcomed their students. Nursery students were accompanied by their parents and attended their first class in the Examination Hall. Teachers introduced themselves and also explained some of the classroom rules and routines.

5^th June being World Environment day, all the teachers explained the importance of nature to their respective classes. They also conducted activities based on World Environment day such as greeting card making, colouring the earth cut-out, colouring the water droplet. Welcome puppets and a small take away chocolate biscuits were distributed to all the Kindergarten students.

First day of school was an exciting and emotional experience for both children and parents.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2024-2025

School is “A Gateway to Life-long Learning”. Orientation is a conscious effort to make the parents understand how Kindergarten lays the foundation of learning for the kids on the onset of a wonderful school journey.

An Orientation programme for the parents of Nursery, Jr.KG and Sr.KG was organized in the Examination Hall of IES Orion on Saturday, 1st June 2024. The programme commenced with the welcome address by the school Principal, Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu. Our beloved Principal Madam highlighted the role of the parents in shaping their children especially in the crucial years of their growth. She shared few tips about good parenting and emphasized on spending quality time with their children to unfold the potential and support them to reach their highest calibre. The Kindergarten Coordinator introduced the class teachers of the respective classes. The Coordinator along with the class teachers gave a presentation to apprise the parents of the objectives and the philosophy of the school.

Orientation Programme familiarise parents with the school policies, procedures, expectations and to get them acquainted with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school. This includes information about attendance, van/bus service, special days’/festival celebrations, practice work, discipline, grading systems, extracurricular activities, school toppers, and many more.

Later, the parents were given an opportunity to ask their queries which were answered by the Coordinator. The orientation programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school in educating the parents to look after and guide their children in a proper manner.
