PUPPET SHOW ON HEALTHY FOOD

Student’s joy of watching puppets dancing and performing before them is enigmatic. The students of IES Orion Kindergarten experienced the same joy while watching the Puppet Show which was organized on Monday, 30th September 2024. The theme of the Puppet Show was “Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy.” The puppet show was planned to enable the kids to learn to converse and formulate their thoughts and words to the best. It was conducted for Nursery, Jr. KG and Sr. KG students. The importance of eating healthy food was shared with the Kindergarteners through a story and was narrated to the students with the help of puppets. The dynamic teachers engrossed the students with voice modulations, hand gestures and effective use of creative puppets thereby encouraging them to be a part of the story. The show of Puppets changed the entire classroom, developing more possibilities for creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and curiosity. The puppet shows not only entertained the little hearts but also motivated them to eat healthy food. The whole show was undoubtedly, a visual treat for all Kindergarten students.

KALAVIKAS INTERSCHOOL COMPETITIONS

Students participated in the Kala Vikas interschool competitions held on 28th September 2024. in Raja Shivaji Vidyasankul. All the students who had registered were present for the competitions. Teachers present at the venue guided the students and escorted them to their respective class. After the competition the students were safely handed over to their parents.

GRANDPARENTS’ TLENT CONTEST

To bring the hidden talent and their childhood years back, IES Orion Kindergarten organized Grandparents’ Talent Contest on Saturday, 28th September 2024. The contest started with Lord Ganesh’s prayer. Our grandparents enthusiastically participated in a huge number for the Bottle Decoration Contest. We experienced all the hidden talents and creativity of the grandparents on that day. It was thoroughly motivational for us to see the huge number of participations from the grandparents. A small take away was given in return to the grandparents. It was indeed a highly motivational and satisfying morning.

STD IV EDUCATIONAL TOUR

IES Orion organized an educational tour for Standard IV with a proper planning by Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu along with the tour operator Mr. Kini.
From 27th Sep. to 29th Sep. students of Orion School Std IV embarked on an enriching 3 day and 2 night educational trip to Vadodara. The itinerary included visits to several significant sites, fostering learning and cultural appreciation. The trip began with a visit to the Amul Dairy, where the group toured the, gaining insights into dairy production and the importance of hygiene. At the Nutrition Park, students engaged in interactive exhibits that highlighted healthy eating habits and sustainable agriculture. At the Statue of Unity, Students explored India’s tallest statue, learning about its historical significance and the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The trip concluded with a visit to Laxmi Vilas Palace, where students admired its architecture learned about the royal heritage of Vadodara.
This trip not only provided educational value but also strengthened friendships and created lasting memories among students.

HEALTHY FOOD FIESTA WEEK

“A HEALTHY OUTSIDE STARTS FROM A HEALTHY INSIDE”
It is important to inculcate healthy eating habits in students from the beginning to lead a healthy lifestyle. IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated “Healthy Food Fiesta Week” from Monday, 23rd September 2024 to Friday, 27th September 2024 to make students aware about the fact that eating right is a key to healthy living and good eating habits go a long way in improving our health and nourishing the body. A fit and active lifestyle demands the right nutrition for the body to function. Students were given an insight into healthy food and good eating habits through various activities in a fun filled way. To know the importance of Vitamins students brought slices of fruits on Monday, 23rd September 2024. Vegetables play a very important role in our diet and to understand these better students brought Vegetable Salad on Tuesday, 24th September 2024. Leafy vegetables should be a part of our diet so students got food prepared from leafy vegetables on Wednesday, 25th September 2024. Jr.KG and Sr.KG students shared their views and thoughts on Healthy Food and Junk Food using charts and flash cards on Tuesday, 24th September 2024. Our little Green Grocers of Nursery set up their vegetable market to explore, learn and observe real vegetables. They dressed up as Vegetable Vendors (Green Grocers) and performed role play on Wednesday, 25th September 2024. For Science and Sensorial, activities were conducted on Friday, 27th September 2024. Sr.KG students brought a piece of boiled corn cob for the activity. They removed the corn kernels and prepared “Corn Bhel”. Jr.KG students brought one boiled potato for “Aaloo Chat” activity. They peeled the potato and made “Aaloo Chat”. Nursery students brought one unpeeled banana and few slices of other fruits to make the fruit salad. They peeled the banana with teacher’s assistance and cut them into small pieces. Thus, the Healthy Food Fiesta Week was a great learning experience for the students of Kindergarten.

ORION BAZAAR

Orion Bazaar set up is a great way to develop money management skills and financial literacy among students. It is a wonderful opportunity wherein students learn basic concepts like money, price, change, as well as activities like buying, shopping, budgeting and saving. Orion Bazaar set up was held by IES Orion Kindergarten on Saturday, 21st September 2024. Students from Jr.KG and Sr.KG participated in this event with great enthusiasm. Jr.KG students were dressed up as Green Grocers and sold a variety of fruits and vegetables. Sr.KG students sold different kinds of grocery items with their parents/grandparents assistance. The remaining students of Nursery, Jr.KG and Sr.KG classes visited the Orion Bazaar as buyers. They went to different stalls to buy fruits, vegetables and grocery items along with their parents. This hands-on experience gave them practical knowledge of buying and selling goods.

FIELD TRIP TO SIDDHIVINAYAK TEMPLE

The Shri Siddhivinayak Mandir is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai. It was originally built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on 19th November 1801. It is one of the most popular temples in Mumbai. The popular belief is that Siddhivinayak Ganpati fulfils the wishes of anyone who prays at this temple with a true heart. To seek the blessings of Lord Shree Siddhivinayak, IES Orion Kindergarten had planned a field trip to Siddhivinayak Temple. On Monday, 16th September 2024 we visited the temple. Students and teachers gathered early morning, boarded buses, and embarked on a journey to the renowned temple. It was a joyful day where everyone experienced spiritual ambiance of the temple. Teachers and students participated in rituals and offered prayers to Lord Ganesha. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with chants and the aroma of incense. The trip concluded with a sense of unity, spirituality, and joyful memories. A day full of blessings of the almighty for the little Orionites.

HINDI DIVAS

दिनांक 16 से 19 सितंबर 2024 तक बड़े ही उत्साह के साथ आई. ई. एस. ओरायन में हिंदी दिवस का कार्यक्रम मनाया गया। हर वर्ष की भाँति इस वर्ष भी प्राथमिक व माध्यमिक विभाग के छात्रों ने इस कार्यक्रम में अपना योगदान दिया। दिनांक 16 से 19 सितंबर 2024 तक मनाए गए कार्यक्रम की रूपरेखा इस प्रकार है - दिन की शुरुआत सुविचार के साथ, आज की ताज़ा खबर, हिंदी दिवस का महत्त्व, कविता, कहानी और कव्वाली उपरोक्त कार्यक्रम सार्वजनिक संबोधन प्रणाली (PSA) के माध्यम से प्रस्तुत की गई। संपूर्ण विद्यालय में कार्यक्रम की प्रतिक्रिया सकारात्मक रही। इसके साथ ही हिंदी दिवस कार्यक्रम का आयोजन और मार्गदर्शन हेतु हिंदी विभाग आदरणीय प्रधानाचार्या जी का सदैव हार्दिक आभारी है।

On 6th September IES Orion School joyfully celebrated Ganapati Festival, embracing the spirit of unity, devotion, and cultural heritage. The festivities were a wonderful opportunity for students and teachers to come together in reverence to Lord Ganesha. The celebration commenced with a lively procession that began on the first floor and moved up to the fifth floor. Orion staff participated enthusiastically, dancing and playing lezim, creating an infectious energy throughout the school.
Principal Mrs. Pratibha Prabhu led the arti followed by the staff. Students were taken for darshan. Prasad was distributed The Ganapati celebration at Orion School was a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.

HINDI DIVAS

Language is the road map of a culture. Hindi was adopted as the official language of our nation, India, on 14th September 1949. To pay tribute and to mark the importance of country’s most widely spoken language; IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Hindi Divas on Friday, 6th September 2024. Informative PowerPoint Presentation on Hindi Divas was shown by the class teachers in their respective classes. The presentation included information about when do we celebrate Hindi Divas, why do we celebrate Hindi Divas and how it is celebrated in schools and colleges in India. After the presentation, an animated story video in Hindi was shown in each class. A Sr. KG student, Ayaansh Singh, said a muhavara in Hindi with great confidence during the school assembly. The effort of our tiny tots to converse in Hindi throughout the day was appreciated.

TEACHER’S DAY

Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September every year. It is the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was the first Vice-President and second President of Independent India. He was a wonderful teacher who taught in various colleges of University of Mysore and Calcutta. He was awarded Bharat Ratna for his great contribution to our country. IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated Teachers’ Day on Thursday, 5th September 2024. It's a day to remember and acknowledge the positive influence, teachers have on the students. The respective class teachers of kindergarten showed an informative PowerPoint Presentation on Teachers Day. It was followed by an animated video on “Why do we celebrate Teachers Day.” Students understood the importance of a teacher or a guru in their life. On Teachers’ Day, students appreciate and express gratitude towards teachers who hold a significant place in our lives.

TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION

On 5th September Orion School celebrated Teachers' Day with great enthusiasm and heartfelt appreciation for our dedicated teachers. The event was a vibrant display of creativity, respect, and gratitude from the students towards their teachers. A PowerPoint presentation was shown, highlighting the life and achievements of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The presentation focused on his contributions to education and philosophy, inspiring students to appreciate the value of knowledge and teaching. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their talents by singing songs, dancing, reciting poems, playing musical instruments, etc for their respective teachers. As a special gesture, students brought personalized handmade cards for their teachers, expressing their thanks and admiration. These cards were a beautiful representation of the affection and respect students hold for their educators.

GANPATI CELEBRATION

Festivals build group cohesiveness, bring people together, break the monotony of routine, and energise the body, mind and spirit. Echoing the festive spirit, the students of IES Orion Kindergarten enjoyed Ganpati Celebration with much zeal and zest in school on Wednesday, 4th September 2024. Lord Ganesha is the first to be worshipped among all the Gods in Hindu mythology. He is known as the God of prosperity and wisdom who removes all obstacles, bestows happiness and spreads peace. We commenced Ganpati celebration clay moulding activity. Nursery, Jr. KG and Sr. KG students made Ganesha with clay and decorated it with sequences and other decorative materials. They made beautiful clay Modaks, Mushak Raj, Ladoos etc. Kindergarten students came dressed in colourful traditional wear. Teachers narrated the story of Lord Ganesha’s birth through PowerPoint Presentation and animated videos. Our school Ganpati Bappa procession was joined by our tiny tots by chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya” and also through shlokas. Later in the school examination hall Kindergarten students sang devotional songs and recited various mantras in Lord Ganesha’s praise. They performed Aarti and seeked Lord Ganesha’s blessings. Overall, the students of kindergarten celebrated the festival with full enthusiasm and zeal.

SWACHATA PAKHVADA

From September 2nd to 6th, 2024, IES Orion School celebrated Swachhata Pakvada, focusing on environmental conservation. The week-long event aimed to educate students about the importance of keeping their surroundings clean and the significance of waste management. Various activities engaged students, including essay writing and drawing activity, centered on the theme of "Save Earth."
Students were educated with informative PowerPoint presentations on waste management, highlighting the differences between dry and wet waste. A significant highlight was the pledge taken by all students to commit in keeping their environment clean.
Teachers facilitated discussions on practical ways to conserve resources and reduce waste. The event fostered a sense of responsibility and awareness among students, encouraging them to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. Overall, Swachhata Pakvada was a successful initiative that empowered students to contribute positively to their community and the environment.
