- Mahatma GandhiMartyrs’ day is celebrated to pay reverent homage to the patriots who fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom, welfare and progress of India. It is celebrated on 30th of January every year, as on the same day, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.
Mahatma Gandhi was a great freedom fighter and is counted as one of the fond freedom fighters among lakhs and lakhs of martyrs.
To pay tribute to our great leader, a power point presentation was prepared that conveyed the message of the ‘Mahatma’ who gave the message of selfless love, sacrifice and humanity which is the guiding light for generations to come. His contribution in various agitations led Independence to India.
And it ended with the quote :-
“ For the mother earth they fought with exemplary heroism.
They sowed the seeds deep, In veins of youth for the freedom.
Patriotism was their true love, I bow down to their martyrdom.
They will always rule our hearts with the slogan ‘Long Live Revolution’.” -
LALA LAJPAT RAI’S BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Lala Lajpat Rai’s birth anniversary was celebrated in online classes by showing video to the children on Microsoft Teams on 28th January, 2021 to mark tribute to his works.
The objective behind showing the video was to address his contribution made during the time of Indian Independence Movement. He was a writer, leader, politician and activist. He was a part of Indian National Congress and was elected president in the Calcutta Special Session of 1920. He also protested against the Simon Commission and chanted ‘Simon go back.’ He was the founder of many organisations and also established trust in his mother’s (Gulab Devi) memory. His patriotism towards the country earned him the title ‘Punjab Kesari’ and he will always be remembered as one of the greatest Indian freedom fighter.

Republic Day

“There is something unique in this soil, which despite many obstacles has always remained the abode of great souls.”
These lines were quoted by the fierce freedom fighter ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’. Keeping this vision in mind, IES Orion witnessed the first ever virtual celebration of the 72nd Republic Day. This day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the length and breadth of the country.
With similar enthusiasm the celebration started with the hoisting of the National Flag, singing of the National anthem followed by ‘Jhanda geet’. Reading of the Preamble highlighted the importance of the Constitution and its unique features such as Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic India.
Introduction of the Chief Guest, Master Parijat Mudras, followed by his Inspiring and motivational words of wisdom made every Orionite feel proud of him. The choir group presented few patriotic songs and poem that filled everyone’s heart with pride. The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for motherland through an informative skit, patriotic songs and mesmerizing dance performances.
The event ended on a positive note to face the pandemic, keeping in mind the saying ‘Precaution is better than cure’.
Last but not the least the whole school celebrated Republic Day with a lot of joy and filled everyone’s heart with patriotic fervor and pride. Truly, it was a successful event!!

VIRTUAL REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

Parakram Divas

On 23rd January 2021, India celebrated Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti. The government of India has decided this day to be officially called as Parakram Divas from 2021.
A recorded video was prepared which consisted of information about Parakram Divas and the role of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the Indian freedom struggle. His main contribution to form the “Azad Hind Fauj” or the Indian National Army was explained.
Netaji is an inspiration to the youths in the present times as well, as he was a man of high ideologies and a loyal servant of the country.
The video was displayed in the live lecture on Monday,25th January 2021.
Values likerespecting the national flag and valuing the sacrifices of the leaders were imparted through this video.

Makar Sankranti Celebration

Makar Sankranti was celebrated in our school in an online mode. Our students from all three sections of Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary participated with great fervor and enthusiasm.
Students really showed great efforts in taking the video recordings for their individual part of the program as per the instructions given by the teacher in charge. We are really thankful to our parents for motivating and helping the students for being a part of this celebration.
The students presented the show in the given sequence: - Introduction about the festival, Information about how ‘Sankranti’ is celebrated in a different state of India as well as beautiful dances related to the celebration and lastly the conclusion, with very prominent message to the society about saving the birds.
Individual videos given by students were collated in a single video and the link for the entire program was shared with the students. A video on attractive Kite Making Activity by creative ways was also shared with the students.
So indeed, it was a great event.

As the chill in the weather has started vanishing with the arrival of spring, Makar Sankranti was celebrated in our school in an online mode on 14th January 2021. Our students from all three sections of Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary participated with great fervor and enthusiasm.

Vishwa Hindi Divas

Our school IES Orion celebrated Vishwa Hindi Divas on 10th January 2021 virtually. A short video was mailed to children. Despite the widespread of pandemic, the students were enthused to take part through virtual medium.
The difference between Hindi Divas and Vishwa Hindi Divas, its history and importance were the focal points of the students' exposition through ppt and video.
The Hindi department of the school expresses its gratitude to Principal Ma'am for giving this opportunity for the celebration.

Nursery Fruit Week
04/01/2021 to 08/01/2021
Importance of eating fruits was imbibed through activities, videos and presentations.
Nursery students and teachers brought different fruits throughout the week to facilitate learning.
Fruits were washed, peeled and cut to provide hands on experience. Students enjoyed eating slices of various fruits. They also shared their knowledge about the fruits. Teachers explained the nutritional value of the fruits and our little ones promised to eat at least one fruit a day.
Creative activities were conducted during this week.

Virtual Annual Sports Day

The much-awaited Virtual Annual Sports Day was held on Sunday 3rd January 2021, with great zeal and excitement.
The program began with the hoisting of school flag by Asst. Head Smt. IndraniBanerjee followed by school Anthem.
Torch run was by all four respective House teachers.
Virtual Releasing of Balloons was done.
The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports Captain Advika Nagool.
An energizing equestrian display set the tone for the rest of the event. The students displayed Gymnastics and Mallkhamb, mesmerizing the audience with their energetic performances.
After that, winners of Virtual Sports Day activities were announced. E-certificates were distributed to the winning students, parents and grandparents.
Fit India advertisement that was prepared by our Orionites was shown. The motto was “Hum Fit Toh India Fit” with the message that“Fitness is important in our lives.”Activities were also displayed which can help us to keep ourselves fit. Conclusion of the program was done with vote of thanks.
All together it was an unique way of celebrating the Annual Sports Day virtually.
