INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

IES Orion Celebrated 6th International Day of Yoga under the theme "Yoga at Home & Yoga with Family'' on Tuesday, 21st June, 2020. Through Pre-recorded sessions virtually. The Yoga Sessions were conducted for Pre-primary, Primary and for Secondary sections. The Yoga Sessions were started with prayer and chanting of Omkar, various standing, sitting and sleeping asanas & Surya Namaskar were taught to bring about a holistic approach to health and wellbeing among the students. The importance of each asanas was shared with the students so that they could understand the benefit of these asanas.

International Yoga Day

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. 21st June is celebrated globally as International Yoga Day to raise awareness regarding its significance of health benefits and aims to educate people about its physical, mental and spiritual welfare one can derive from yoga’s various practices.
We took this opportunity to address the importance of yoga for children and adults’ alike, and the significance of this day amidst a global crisis.
Keeping in mind that yoga promotes self-healing, removes negative blocks from the mind and body, enhances personal power, reduces stress and tension; special links were made for our students and parents as per their age criteria. Videos and clippings were sent to the parents.
Pre Primary students enjoyed simple yoga exercises along with their parents.

National Reading Day

“It is books that are the key to the wide world; if you can’t do anything else, read all that you can.”
IES Orion, Dadar celebrated the 25th National Reading day under their online study program.
This day was celebrated to honor the father of the library movement in Kerala, the late P. N Panicker, whose death anniversary falls on 19th June. So, 19th June is celebrated as the day of reading.
Reading plays a significant role in the development of a country's socio-economic progress. Progress of a person, community and country depends on its rich knowledge base.
Rich knowledge base depends on reading. 'Read and Grow' is the slogan of the P.N. Foundation.
Teachers of Primary and Secondary Sections conducted a special assembly by showing PPT depicting P.N. Panicker’s contribution towards the society and the nation. A video on ‘Importance of reading’ was also shown to the students to motivate them to develop their reading skills.
Various activities were conducted such as reading competition, poem recitation Competition, paragraph writing and slogan writing on the importance of reading.
National reading day was celebrated by the students with great enthusiasm.

Online Celebration of Pu La Deshpande Death Anniversary

Pu La Deshpande (पु. ल. देशपांडे) (alternatively written Purushottam Laxman Deshpande; popularly known by his initials ("Pu. La.") or as P. L. Deshpande, was a Marathi writer and humorist from Maharashtra, India. He was also an accomplished film and stage actor, script writer, author, composer, musician (he played the harmonium), singer and orator. He is often referred to as "Maharashtra's beloved personality". Information about his plays and great deeds of this famous personality was shared among children. Children recalled their memories and admitted that they had also watched his plays. They also shared their experiences with their teachers.

WALK AROUND THE SCHOOL: Virtual Walk:

Students were taken around the campus virtually and introduced to the different working areas of the school like Administration office, Principal Madam’s cabin, Sick Bay, Game rooms, Free Activity room, Computer room, Art room, Library, Stilt area, School ground and Canteen to make them familiar with school environment and the people who work at school.
Students were excited to watch the huge ‘Orion Building’ and specially their well-equipped ‘Play Area” on screen.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

“World Environment Day” was celebrated virtually. Beautiful songs on the ‘Planet Earth’ and informative videos were sent along with the worksheets for colouring.
Students coloured beautiful pictures with the message like ‘Save Earth’, Plant more trees ‘Go Green’ and ‘Save Environment’. Parents s explained their children that this day is observed every year on 5 June’ to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect “Mother Earth

Let Us Preserve It Forever!Keeping this inspiring thought in mind IES Orion, Dadar students celebrated World Environment Day under their online study programme. The theme for this year is ‘TIME IS NATURE’ ‘CELEBRATE BIODIVERSITY’.
The theme invited every citizen to ponder on the fact how we are a part of nature and that we share a special relationship with it. Teachers conducted a special assembly by showing a video and PowerPoint Presentation to help the students understand the origin of Environment Day and the role that nature plays in our lives. Students enthusiastically celebrated World Environment Day from their homes through message-based activities. The various activities wereEnvironment Word Search, making a wreath of hand cutouts with Save Environment messages written on it, drawing a plant, writing a slogan to spread awareness of the importance of conserving nature. The activities helped children hone their creative skills. The celebration was a great success!!

ONLINE CLASSES: LEARNING THROUGH ‘DIGITAL’ MEDIA

We at IES Orion believe in the overall development of the children. To keep small kids engaged and occupied is very essential. So we made efforts to develop positive approach in accepting new challenges, gaining cooperation and spending quality time with our children through “Online Classes”. These new doors lead us to new paths of progress.
We planned constructively to conduct online classes for our little ones with lots of hope and new objectives. We were able to inculcate values and impart knowledge through interactive sessions. Parents have taken utmost care to ensure that their child is on time for the online classes and have been extremely disciplined. Assignments and activities were enjoyed by our little ones.
Virtual classes made it possible for us to connect with our students to strengthen the bond between students and the teachers.
