With this vision, we joyfully celebrated Befriend Plants Week from 14th July 2025 to 18th July 2025 - a week devoted to inspiring curiosity, responsibility, and reverence for the green world around us.
The celebration commenced with an engaging and sensory-rich introduction to the fascinating world of plants. Through interactive discussions and demonstrations, students learned about the fundamental parts of a plant and the basic conditions required for their growth - sunlight, water, air, and soil. Teachers further enriched the experience with storytelling sessions focused on the importance of plants and environmental care, while joyful songs about nature created a vibrant and memorable atmosphere.
The most anticipated event took place on Wednesday, 16th July 2025, with a hands-on planting activity organized for the Jr.KG and Sr. KG students. Each child enthusiastically brought seeds, soil, and a pot or container from home. Guided step-by-step by their teachers, the children sowed the seeds, watered them with care, and placed their pots near the windows to receive sunlight and fresh air. This activity not only introduced them to the life cycle of a plant but also instilled a sense of ownership and responsibility. Every day, during their lunch break, students eagerly tended to their plants, watching for tiny sprouts to appear.
On the fourth day, students explored the process of germination through a creative art session. Beginning with chalk and slate, and later transitioning to art sheets, they illustrated each stage of germination - from seed to sprout, seedling, and young plant. This visual representation allowed them to internalize the stages of plant growth while expressing their understanding artistically.
The week-long celebration was a beautiful blend of education, engagement, and environmental awareness. Our students were not only entertained but also empowered with knowledge and a deep appreciation for nature. It was heartening to witness their excitement as they watched life unfold from the seeds they had planted with their own hands.
The grand finale of the week took place on Friday, 18th July 2025, with Sprouts Day. Teachers served nutritious sprout-based usal to the children, which they savored with joy and enthusiasm. It was a perfect culmination to a week of learning, growth, and celebration of life.
