PUPPET SHOW

Children are naturally drawn to toys and puppets, and the joy they experience while watching puppets come to life is truly magical. This joy came alive for the students of IES Orion Kindergarten during the Puppet Show held on Monday, 30^th June 2025.
Each section had a puppet performance based on a unique theme:

• Nursery: Welcome to School
• Jr.KG: My Family
• Sr.KG: My School

The lively and colourful puppets captured the attention and imagination of the children, making them dance, sing, and jump in excitement throughout the show. While the performances were filled with fun and laughter, they also carried important life lessons.
Through engaging storytelling, the puppet shows helped children learn values such as:

• Caring for and showing affection towards family members
• Respecting teachers and classmates
• Following school rules
• Practicing punctuality and honesty

The students were spellbound by the puppet show, turning the entire experience into a visual delight.
It was truly an enriching and entertaining experience that left a lasting impression on our young learners.

STD I – V ENGLISH RECITATION COMPETITION

A lively poem recitation competition was held at IES Orion School for the Primary Section (Std I -V) on the themes of kindness, nature, friendship, patriotism and humour. The children beautifully conveyed messages about caring for others, protecting the environment, value of friendship in their lives, patriotic feelings, and humorous poetry brought smiles and laughter to the hall. It encouraged young students to develop their confidence and appreciation for important value.

INVESTITURE DAY CEREMONY

The Investiture Ceremony at Orion School was held in the auditorium with great enthusiasm. The elected student council members' results were declared, and they were honoured with badges and sashes by the Chief Guest and school dignitaries. Each leader took the oath of office, pledging to carry out their duties with dedication and integrity. The occasion was a proud and inspiring moment for the entire school.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21^st June to promote the importance of yoga in achieving harmony between the body and mind. It highlights the numerous benefits of incorporating yoga into our daily routines for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

At IES Orion Kindergarten, the occasion was celebrated with great enthusiasm on Friday, 20^th June 2025. A special yoga session was organised in the stilt area, led by the Physical Education (PE) team. The students, along with their teachers, actively participated in the session, performing various yoga asanas such as Parvatasana (Mountain Pose), Vrikshasana (Tree Pose), Tadasana (Palm Tree Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), and the complete Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) sequence.

Through this event, the students were made aware of the countless physical and mental benefits of yoga. They learned the value of staying fit, calm, and focused through regular practice. The session was not only informative but also enjoyable, leaving the little yogis feeling refreshed and energized.

Productivity begins in Kindergarten!

World Productivity Day, celebrated every year on 20^th June, serves as a reminder of the importance of being efficient and organized in our daily lives. Though not widely recognized, it encourages people of all ages to adopt productive habits that help manage time and tasks more effectively—whether at home, school, or work.
To introduce these valuable habits early on, IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated World Productivity Day on Friday, 20^th June 2025 with a range of engaging, age-appropriate activities for Nursery, Jr.KG, and Sr.KG students.
Teachers began the day with a simple and informative talk, helping students understand the importance of using their time wisely, staying focused, and completing tasks with care.

• Nursery students participated in hands-on activities like stacking rings and sorting objects by colour and size. These exercises supported the development of concentration, fine motor skills, and early cognitive thinking, laying a strong foundation for productive habits.

• Jr.KG students took part in puzzle-based fine motor games such as buttoning, lacing, zipping, and unzipping, all within a set time frame. These activities helped reinforce concepts of task completion and time management in a playful manner.

• Sr.KG students practiced meditation techniques and engaged in academic tasks like story sequencing and number value identification. These exercises promoted focus, emotional regulation, and logical reasoning—key traits of a productive learner.

The celebration was both fun and meaningful, offering students valuable tools to become more focused, independent, and efficient in their daily routines.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21^st to raise awareness about the many benefits of practicing yoga. It is a gift from ancient India to the world, promoting harmony between the mind and body. Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at IES Orion School on Friday 20^th June 2025. A class-wise Yoga Competition was held. Students also performed asanas led by the PE teachers.The event showcased the students' enthusiasm and talent, ending on a positive note with participants feeling refreshed and inspired to make yoga a part of their daily routine

NATIONAL READING DAY

The spirit of Reading Day echoes the legacy of P.N. Panicker, the visionary educationist from Kerala who championed literacy with the motto, “Read and Grow.” To celebrate the joy and power of reading, IES Orion School’s Primary Section observed National Reading Day with enthusiasm. The day was thoughtfully designed to instil a love for books and an appreciation for the lifelong impact of reading. All students were given 30 minutes of uninterrupted reading time, allowing them to dive into a book of their choice.

Reading is a powerful tool that sharpens our thinking, teaches valuable life lessons, and shapes our personality. It plays a vital role in the development of language skills and nurtures imagination, curiosity, and empathy.

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated National Reading Day on Tuesday, 19^th June 2025, with great enthusiasm. The day began with an introductory PowerPoint presentation designed especially for our Kindergarteners to learn about Late Shri P. N. Panicker, the Father of the Library Movement in Kerala. His death anniversary, observed on 19^th June, is commemorated across India as National Reading Day. The theme of the day “Read More, Grow More”—resonated deeply with the spirit of our celebration.

To mark the occasion, our little learners were taken to the school library, where they had the opportunity to explore, browse, and read age-appropriate books. The experience helped them develop a positive connection with books and fostered a love for reading.

It was a joyful and enriching day that left our students inspired and eager to read more.

WALK AROUND THE SCHOOL

To help our young learners become familiar with their school environment, IES Orion Kindergarten organized “A Walk Around the School” for Kindergarten students on Tuesday, 17^th June 2025.

Accompanied by their teachers, the curious and excited children explored various important areas within the school. Their tour included the School Playground, Canteen, Principal Madam’s Cabin, Admin Office, Co-ordinator Madam’s Cabin, Stilt Area, Library, Sick Bay, Staff Room, and the Visitor’s Lounge.

They also visited various activity-based rooms like the Ball Pool Room, Puppet Room, Games Room, Music Room, Art Room, and the Computer Lab. Additionally, the students were given a peek into the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Laboratories, which sparked their curiosity and gave them an early exposure to the world of science.

The walk provided an opportunity for the students to interact with school staff and gain a better understanding of their surroundings. The primary objective of the event was to build familiarity and comfort with the school setting, helping children feel more confident and connected in their learning journey.

It was an enriching and enjoyable experience for all!

ORIENTATION MEETING

An orientation meeting for the Primary Section of IES School was successfully conducted to familiarize parents and guardians with the academic framework, school policies, and overall functioning of the institution for the upcoming academic year which outlined the daily routine, curriculum, teaching methods, assessments, and co-curricular plans. Head Madam covered essential rules on attendance, discipline, and communication.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - SAY NO TO PLASTIC

Primary grade classes observed the World Environment Day with an interactive and informative PowerPoint presentation, centered around the urgent theme: “Say No to Plastic”. The aim of the presentation was to teach the history and significance of Environment Day, the alarming impact of plastic pollution on land, oceans, and wildlife and Government initiatives and global efforts against plastic pollution.

IES Orion Kindergarten celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm on Wednesday, 5^th June 2025. The celebration aimed to instill in young minds the importance of protecting our environment and adopting sustainable habits for a better future.

To mark the occasion, age-appropriate activities were thoughtfully planned for each grade:

• Nursery students enjoyed a creative sponge dabbing activity on a water droplet shape, highlighting the importance of saving water.

• Jr.KG students engaged in colouring an earth-shaped cut-out and proudly crafted a wrist band as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.

• Sr.KG students also coloured the earth cut-out and confidently wrote “World Environment Day” on it, reinforcing their understanding of the day’s significance.

The core themes of the celebration — "Saving Water" and "Going Green" — were emphasized through engaging discussions and hands-on activities. Children were encouraged to adopt small, meaningful actions that can lead to a healthier environment and a brighter tomorrow.

The celebration was a wonderful blend of learning and fun, creating awareness among the young learners while sowing the seeds of environmental responsibility early on.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

The school reopened for the new academic session on Wednesday, 4^th June 2025. To gently ease Kindergarten students into their school environment, the first day was kept short — just an hour-long session filled with warmth and excitement.

The day began with a sense of unity and reverence as students participated in the Morning Prayer, followed by the Pledge, National Anthem, and School Anthem. With bright smiles and open arms, the teachers greeted their young learners, setting a cheerful tone for the year ahead.

Nursery students, accompanied by their parents, attended their first class in the Examination Hall, where they were welcomed into the world of schooling. Teachers introduced themselves and took time to explain some basic classroom rules and daily routines, helping children feel safe and secure in their new space.

To add a touch of joy, each Kindergarten student received a welcome puppet along with a chocolate biscuit takeaway — small tokens to mark a big beginning.

The first day of school was truly a memorable and heartfelt experience — filled with curiosity, nervous giggles, and proud smiles. It was an emotional milestone for both parents and children as they stepped into a new chapter of learning and growth.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2025–2026

The beginning of a new academic year is a gateway to fresh opportunities, unexplored paths, and meaningful learning experiences. To build a strong foundation for this journey, an Orientation Programme was organized for the parents of Kindergarten students, with the goal of encouraging their active participation in their child’s growth and development.

On Monday, 2^nd June 2025, the Examination Hall at IES Orion was abuzz with enthusiasm as parents gathered for the session. This was followed by the Kindergarten Coordinator’s presentation, which outlined the school’s policies, procedures, and expectations. Parents gained a clear understanding of how the school environment is structured to support the overall well-being and academic progress of the students.

Next, the teaching faculty of Kindergarten was introduced — a vibrant team of committed educators, ready to guide and support the children throughout the year. The teachers offered a brief overview of the various learning activities, enrichment programmes, and co-scholastic opportunities designed to foster creativity, curiosity, and comprehensive development.

The event also allowed parents to interact informally with the staff and become familiar with the curriculum, routines, and the school’s approach to early education. This face-to-face interaction helped dispel any uncertainties and established a sense of trust and transparency.

The Orientation Programme proved to be a valuable starting point for the academic year, setting the tone for collaboration and shared commitment between the school and families.
