Puppet Show

An entertaining and informative puppet show was shown. The topic was ‘Healthy food ‘fruits and vegetables’. The significance of eating ‘Vegetables’ and ‘fruits’ was imparted through the puppet show. It was a pleasurable experience for the KG students.

REPORT ON INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2018-19

Investiture means a formal investing of a person with authority, power, right, office and dignity. The official ceremony of conferring titles and investing powers to the members of the school council was conducted at B.N Vaidya Hall on 30th July, 2018. The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a Welcome Song. The students of the outgoing council marched forward for the one last time with a lot of pride.
“Passion, Purpose and Progress takes you towards the path of development. ”IES Orion adopted the E-Voting system for the election of the student council this year. E-Voting which is electronic voting involved the casting of votes online using the computer. The voting process had taken place in the school premises under the scrutiny of the teachers to ensure just and fair process of election. The students from Grade 7 to Grade 10 voted for their favourite candidate by the click on the mouse instead of using the old system of the ballot paper.
The excitement that had culminated in the students from several weeks reached its destiny when the Principal, Ms PratibhaPrabhu announced the results of the elected Student Council Members of 2018-19.

The elected Head girl, Ms. Siddhi Bhosle and Head boy Master Dhruv Pithadia spoke about their goals and aspirations to be accomplished during their tenure which would add to the glory of the school.
The school choir sang the School Anthem with great vigor and voice laced with pride and confidence. The function concluded with the National Anthem. In this way, the Investiture Ceremony was celebrated with great pomp and joy.

Guru Purnima

‘Worshiping My Guru’
Students enjoyed assembly period with story session and teachers spoke on importance of Guru. Students recited Shlokas and received blessings from their teachers. The story session on Guru Purnima was conducted in assembly period and power point presentation was shown. A beautiful project depicting “Gurukul” was displayed and was shown to the students.

CISCE PE Cell Meeting

CISCE PE cell meeting was held in on 25th July 2018 in IES Orion premises for the first time in the history of the school. About 150 faculty members participated from 100 different ICSE school of MAHARASHTRA, which was a good turn out. The resource person was Mr. Digamber Palwe. Principal of the school, Mrs. Prabhu welcomed the speaker.
The meeting started with a detailed discussion of the syllabus of grade 9 followed by grade 10 for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20. The modified syllabus of grade 10 was discussed. The facilitators were informed about the new board.
This was followed by an interactive session. The facilitators put forth their doubts which were duly answered satisfactorily by the resource person.

Ashadhi Ekadashi

Students were informed about the festival of procession, ‘Ashadhi Ekadash'.
It is the day of fasting and on this day ‘Varkaris’ (devotees of Lord Vitthal) go walking in huge processions to Pandhurpur singing the Abhangas (chanting hymns) of Saint Tukaram and Saint Dnyaneshwar to see their ‘Lord Vitthal’.
Ashadhi Ekadashi was celebrated with great solemnity in ‘Orion’. Students were dressed in traditional attire for Mock Dindi celebration. ‘Prasad’ was distributed. Few students dressed up as Lord Vitthal, Goddess Rakhumai, Varkaris and few as saints of Maharashtra.
The values like determination, dedication and truthfulness were inculcated through the story of ‘Pundalik’ a great devotee of Lord Vitthal.
Students also shared information related to the festival.

G. K. QUIZ COMPETITION

“Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is a key to it”
Human curiosity is perhaps the best secret weapon of all in the struggle to unravel the workings of the natural world. In order to settle the curiosity of the students and expose them to new facets of the general awareness, a quiz was organized for the students of grades VI-IX. The students exuberated confidence as they answered the questions posed to them.
There were four interesting rounds in the quiz namely Stage Round, Rapid Fire Round, Visual Round and Audio Round.
The quiz Masters were Ms. Manasi and Ms. Deepa who announced the rules and regulations before the start of the competition.
The questions were related to History, Geography, Politics, Science, Current Affairs, Sports and Music. The participants took part in the competition with great enthusiasm and zeal.
Blue house bagged 1st position, while Red house 2nd andYellow house 3rd positions respectively.

Cleanliness Drive

‘One who maintains Cleanliness, Keeps away diseases’.
To create awareness about “Cleanliness and Hygiene” the ‘Cleanliness Drive’ was carried out. Teachers explained about ‘SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN’ and the activities that students can carry out easily to contribute positively towards this drive, such as throwing waste material in the dust-bins, using paper bags etc. Topics like ‘cleanliness of surroundings, clean eating habits, proper sanitation ’were discussed.
Students promised to take time and efforts to keep their school, home and surrounding clean. This was followed by cleaning play material, toys and even slates. Students happily participated in this cleanliness drive and were proud to share it with their parents.

INTER-HOUSE G.K. QUIZ COMPETITION

The Inter-House G.K. Quiz competition for Grade 3, 4 and 5 was conducted on 17th July 2018 in the Examination Hall. The honourable guests were Mrs. Anuradha Kolhatkar, Pre-Primary Co-ordinator and Mrs. Madhulika Nigam, Secondary Section In-charge.
The Quiz began with the introduction of the quizmasters and contestants from each house-team.
The Quiz was conducted in a very interactive way by Ms. Vaishali Tawde and Ms. Priti Shetty .The teams participated with great enthusiasm.The supporting Co- teachers were as follows:
a) Timer/Buzzer- Mr. Sunny Darade
b) Score-Keeper- Ms.Taranjitb Pawar
The teacher-in-charge explained the basic rules of the Quiz competition to the wonderful audience that is grade 3, 4 and 5 students. The competition was conducted in 4 Rounds.Round 1 –Multiple Choice Questions
Round 2- Guess the Picture
Round 3- Audio Round
Round 4- Rapid Fire Round
Though some of the questions were very tricky, the teams tried to answer them with confidence. Excellent team-work was displayed by the participants. They skillfully answered the questions asked by range of emotions were felt in the Examination Hall – happiness, sadness, regret and excitement. The questions put forth to the teams were intriguing, exciting and made the audiences go ‘Aah!’ and clap when the teams answered correctly. The audience also got a chance to participate every time the teams answered incorrectly.
Every round was a mixed bag with questions from history, sports and science.Everyone waited with baited breath for the announcement of the final scores.After all the trials and tribulations, the winning team emerged. Our honourable guests announced the winning team. Everyone clapped and cheered for the ecstatic winning teams. The winners were as follows:

Sprouts Day

Eat Right, Be Bright.
Sprouts Day was conducted with great enthusiasm. Children were made aware of the fact that the ‘sprouting’ process increases nutrient levels, making ‘sprouts’ richer in protein and vitamins C and K. Students were served tasty ‘Usal’ of ‘Sprouted Pulses’. Fitness Day was observed on the same day. Simple physical exercises were performed.
Principal madam advised students to stay healthy and they promised that they will play outdoor games, do daily exercises and maintain healhty eating habits. Students relished lip-smacking ‘Usal’ and thanked madam for the same.

BEFRIEND PLANTS WEEK

It is rightly said that ‘The Earth stays in joy, when we plant a tree’.
During ‘Befriend Plants Week’ the planting activity was conducted on Wednesday 11th July. Students bought small pots filled with mud and a small packet of seeds. They planted those seeds and watered them. They were thrilled to see their plants growing day by day. Informative talk was conducted to make children aware of importance of plants like “Plants provide us with many benefits necessary for survival, including clean air, filtered water, shade, and food”. Various activities were conducted during this special week like Nature study, Drawing - Stages of Germination, Stenciling of vegetables and fruits, Dye painting etc.
