Beach Cleaning Activity

Students of Grade IX participated in BEACH CLEANING ACTIVITY as part of SUPW Curriculum.
The students visited the Dadar Chowpatty beach, where the cleaning activity was conducted.
Volunteers from BEACH PLEASE, an NGO, assisted the students. They provided the students with gloves.
The students and staff put in all their efforts to clean the beach as much as possible. Loads and loads of garbage such as plastic bags, bottles, rags, footwear, gunny bags, deeply lodged in the sand, all littered on the beach was picked by the students, filled in baskets and collected at a point from where it would be collected by the agencies for clean up.
It was indeed a fulfilling event for one and all who participated in the event, working towards a significant social cause, to clean the beaches, thereby assisting in conservation of the environment.

Educational Tour to Lonavala for Grade X students

A trip was organized by the school for Grade X to Lonavala. A group of 52 students from the first batch of grade 10 and 6 teachers visited Lonavala under the leadership of the Principal, Mrs. Prabhu. After enjoying the delicious buffet lunch on reaching Lonavala, the students set for some thrilling “adventure activities”. Every student got a chance to perform each of these activities which they enjoyed thoroughly. At around 6:00 p.m. the team paid a visit to the Narayni Dhammandir. In the evening the students enjoyed the bonfire night. The students were divided into groups and they prepared a cultural programme to be presented which helped to unleash their hidden talents.
Next day the students went for trekking to Ekvira mandir. The students enjoyed viewing the ancient structure of this koli temple, cut out from rocks. After the breakfast the students visited the Maganlal chikki factory where they witnessed how the chikkis were prepared. Post lunch the students proceeded to the wax museum. The students enjoyed clicking photographs with the wax potrayals. This visit was followed by a very enjoyable DJ night.
On day 3, after having breakfast, Dhruv Shah’s birthday was celebrated under the guidance of our principal. This turned out to be a very emotional and happy moment for the birthday boy. The last place visited by the students before they embarked to their journey back home was a visit to NAB- a home for elderly blind people. This visit left a very deep mark on them. They interacted with residents and observed how they weaved clothes. This visit was an eye opener for the students.
The visit was a very enriching experience for the students.

Colour Week

Nursery students celebrated ‘Colour Week’ for the better understanding of the concept of ‘Colours’. They wore clothes of different colours as per the given sequence of colours and also bought objects of the same colour. It helped them to comprehend the ‘Colour Concept’ easily. Craft activity was conducted for each colour. Students enjoyed the colour week.

Wild Wisdom Quiz – City Level Round

The Wild Wisdom Quiz – City Level Round was held at Nehru Science Centre. This year 240 students from 60 schools all over Maharashtra had participated in the Quiz.
Our students got an opportunity to exhibit their talents and confidence by participating in this Wild Wisdom Quiz. It helped them to widen their knowledge about wild life.
Atreya Yatin Vichare was awarded with a poster for giving the correct answer wherein the other schools were unable to answer a question during the quiz round.

Ganesh Festival

The students welcomed Ganapati Bappa, their favourite deity to the school amidst cheers of “Ganapati Bappa Moraya” as they lined up the corridors to clap and sing in HIS honour. Students performed the aarti and took the blessings of their beloved Bappa.

‘Lord of Wisdom’ arrives at ‘Orion’
Students visited Ganesh temple on Monday 10th September 2018 as a part of Ganesh Festival and offered their prayers to the Lord of Wisdom and sought his blessings. On Tuesday 11th September 2018, Ganesha arrived with great fervour. Beautiful project was displayed. Students sang devotional songs and performed ‘Aarti’. Prasad was distributed. Beautiful clay ‘Ganesha’ idols were made by students.

Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.
Matrudin was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Students made beautiful ‘Mothers’ Day’ cards. They expressed their feelings about their mother and her importance in their life through speech and songs. Power point presentation on “My Mother” was shown to the students.

Junior KG. Students dressed up as “Green Grocers” as a part of their EVS topic ‘Vegetables’. Students could see and handle variety of vegetables. They were shown different kinds of weighing scales. Some of the students and Principal Madam along with teachers enacted as ‘Vegetable Buyers’.

Science and Sensorial Activities

Using hands-on activities in early childhood is a great way to link new concepts to ideas that children already understand.
Sr.KG. students brought a piece of boiled corn cob for the activity. They removed corn kernels and prepared ‘Corn Bhel’.
Jr.KG. students brought one boiled potato for ‘Aaloo Chat’ activity. They peeled the potato and made ‘aaloo chat’.

Health Food Fiesta

‘Health Is Wealth’
Health Food Fiesta Week was organised to make children aware about the fact that ‘nutrition’ is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Eating a balanced diet is vital for good health and wellbeing.Students were given an insight into healthy food and eating habits through various activities in a fun filled way using charts, flash cards etc. Few students shared their views on the topic along with their Projects.
